  • sucks for all you digital watch people

  • FUKIN STUPID YANK CUNT DIE NOW

  • "To find north, take the hour hand and point it north" lolwat?

  • what if it is 12 0 clock?????????

  • at 30 secs he says " to find north you take the hour hand and point it towards north???" Good one. If I knew were north is so that i can point my hour hand towards it, then why do i need to use this method when I already know where north is???

  • E+ for effort =)

  • i have a digital watch. can i use my gps instead?

  • Its useless until you dont create a new and correct one.

  • id rather buy a compass

  • i wonder if this guy can find Bin Laden with his watch?

  • can you show us how to make a beer out of a bottle of water and a match book next?

  • or you can just ask at a gas station

  • "to find north you take your hour hand and point it north". ......

  • I've seen many videos on this, 1 part is confusing me. I seen someone do 8am went Clockwise toward 12 and in between was South, ok. Someone else does 6am he goes Counter-clockwise toward 12 and that is South.. How do you determine to either go Clockwise or Counter toward 12? Could you give an example of doing this at 8am and 5pm, thank you :)

  • Between means half way between . I wonder how you do it after 6 on a summer night

  • Now I am ready to conquer the world.

  • MAIDEN!!!

  • Wouldn't it be easier to just point the 12 to the west in the afternoon and call 3 north? In the morning point 12 east and call 9 north?

  • @hack2makelivesbetter that kinda depends on the time of day.... this method can allways roughly tell you where north is, as long as the sun is visible.

  • wouldn't it be easier to just point the 12 to the east or west and then call 3 or 9 north?

  • Nice fart at 0:57. You can almost smell it.

  • Why do you need a watch?

My penis is always pointing north

  • @Gasoilne dumb ass

  • lol 00:50 - 1:00

  • Thumbs up for the intro music ;)

  • I mean Hallowed be thy name - my bad

  • Iron Maiden Rules (ending) Wrathchild

  • It sounds like he farted at 0:57 haha

  • @Danyboy87 LOL TOTALLY

  • awesome sound track

  • @ryder4601 Iron Maiden

  • what does hallowed be thy name have anything to do with finding north using a watch again? is it some kind of epic mission? lol.

  • @Hatekrew1987 Maybe it was better background Two minutes to midnight...:-)

  • only applies if and only if ur wathc is right on time...heheh

  • Hallowed be thy name :]

  • @b44styreraug

    jesus freak

  • @kenmabie

    Nope, Iron Maiden freak!

Listen to the backing music of this video...

  • @b44styreraug

no thanks i dont like shitty 80's hair metal

  • Cool...

  • thanks for the information

  • This method works as long as you can assertain the time. Example...hold your hand in front of you...palm up. The thumb will be 12, the long finger will be three, the wrist will be 9, and you can guess where 6 is. Place the heel of your hand against your chest , now orient yourself in relation to the sun using the number positions given above. Split the difference and there you have south(Northern Hemisphere) .

  • @Ikefis funny i noticed you took away your digital watch remark... and then called me an idiot ... even tho you said that digital watches have hands (incorrect) and tried to argue on my page that you can use a digitial watch to find north (even tho a digital watch has no hands) , you sir are the idiot , and you are a rage fill butthurt little pathtic loser that tried to act internet tought guy, thanks for the laugh there spankie, next time just come say it to my face and watch what happens

  • iron maiden rullez xD

  • cool song!!

  • How does this work at night then?

  • @britfin007 Easy. just point the hour hand towards the moon and read it the same as you would the sun. I just tried it (with a clock cause I don't have a watch, lol) and it worked perfectly. I even use a compass to verify it. It makes sense cause both the sun and moon rise in the east and set in the west (which is a good thing to remember)

  • Comment removed

  • @kenmabie "the moon revolvs around teh earth about faster than the earth rotates" - Wrong. It takes the moon 27.322 days to go around the Earth once. Earth spins faster than the moon can orbit us and thats why we sometimes see the moon in early mornings and late evenings within those 27 days. It's also how we get half moons, full moons, etc.. As for finding north with it, you may be right. Polaris would be better. As for where it is? I've known that ever since I could look up and ask questions.

  • Comment removed

  • @GuyPyro87 if it takes 27.322(28 arguments sake) to revolve around the earth and it only takes the earth 24 hours to rotate that means the earth rotates faster than the moon revolves, also i tried it tonight at about 9-9:30 pm it wont work moon was at the horizon placed the hour hand at the moon and 12 faced north not the same results as the sun and so you knew since you could look up and ask questions.. so what last teusday.. that about right?

  • @kenmabie .. thats exactly what I said dude.. I was pointing out how your quote was wrong. And like I said, using the moon may not be as accurate as I once thought. It worked for me that one and only night that I tried it. So try giving it a rest. As for your attempts at being a smart ass ("so what last teusday.. that about right?"), Fail..

  • Not sure if serious...

  • what if you are wearing a electronic calculator watch???now answer me come on.

  • see where the sun is. if it's 12:00 then the sun will be above and to the south.

  • imagine a virtual analog watch. figure out 3,6,9,12 and go inbetween. or watch the sun for where it rises and sets

  • stop being a retard its pretty clear that it can only be done with a analog watch

  • @THEEGUY89 Wrong!

  • @Ikefis

so youre saying you can do this with a digital watch? i dont think so, since a digital watch has no hands you wont be able to use it as a compass, way to be a dipshit, i think you need to leard what analog watch means... (protip: its the one with the hands and not just numbers on it)... shit you are stupid

  • @ikefis yo thes anrgy internet tuff guy posted a comment on my page, check it out , he says you can use a digital watch to find north, even tho a digital watch has no hands... wow this guy is a loser, come see his fail and aids for yourself

  • If you are wearing a digital watch, you imagine/draw an analog watch and do it that way

  • The graphic is backwards...

  • only for south hem

  • no other way round because sun goes over equator which means just stop at finding "south" in south hemispher and you have north.

  • thanks

  • wen the hour hand is on 6 n the minute hand is on 12 which way is north and souhth on the 7,8,9 side or the 2,3,4, side? thats wa confuses me

  • 1. minute hand does not matter

    2. you got to the clostest 12.

  • This does work, but it is a rough estimate. Bear in mind that this works based on a 12 hour day so as the sun progresses across the sky from east to west, it is at it's southernmost point at mid day. Longer days in the summer and shorter days in the winter will throw this off by a bit. You may have to draw a circle with 14 hours instead of 12 for example to compensate. In a survival situation, even if it's off, it will keep from going in circles which is the main thing.

  • @khatib215 I have used this technique. You are right it only works during daylight hours. During darkness, rely on Polaris. I am amazed how many arm chair encyclopedia's we have commenting on topics of of which they know nothing. Guess sitting behind a computer makes people like kenmabie very brave.

  • @khatib215 thanx i hope i use this one day or mabey not lol

  • is this also for southern hemisphere?

  • When your watch is pointing to the sun on the equator its already facing north if your in the southern hemisphere. so you only need to look halfway between the hour and noon to find north. in the northern hemisphere we look south to the sun so we have to flip.

  • you don't need a watch to figure this out lol

  • raises in the east....sets in the west...(facing the sun) when it rises north will be on your right and west will behind you.....when it sets north is on your right and south is on your left and east....is behind you...

  • Does it works on the night? - LOL

  • At the end, you labeled your directions opposite where they should be. ;)

  • i messed up but if you can find due south then you should be able to know which way is north, there are tons of quick references to tell you if you found north or south

  • @KiLanRay depends what hemisphere you are in also

  • honestly sounds like a load of bull, but if it does work, pre sweet :p

  • It works for me and everyone I know that has tried it, give it a try, It'll work

  • i steel not undrestand

  • point the hour hand at the sun, then you find the area directly in between 12 o'clock and the hour hand. that area between 12 and the hour hand is south. say it is 5 o'clock, I would point the hour hand at the sun (so the 5 is closest to the sun)and then find the area between the hour hand and the 12, in this case it would be around 2:30, so 2:30 would be pointing south, and 8:30 would be pointing north. sorry if this explication confuses you further, this concept is hard for me to explain

  • that is so easy thanks!!! I will try that thanks again!!!

  • you should mention that it's the point exactly halfway between the hour hand and the 12 (if it's standard time; the 1 if it's daylight savings time). it would make your explanation clearer.

  • @ekaj8 : if u r in northern heisphere, point the hour hand towards the sun, bisect the area between hour hand and figure 12, direction of North will be away from the sun.... if u r in southern hemisphere, point the figure 12 towards the sun and bisect, North will be closer to the direction in which the sun is......

  • Do you have to Adjust for DST?

  • that is a good question and I don't know, I don't think it will make that much of a difference. I do adjust for DST and I can always find north

  • aha i shouldve watched the rest before commenting

  • how to find north, u take the hour hand and point it north, wtf

  • u should make a video on the gear u carry that would be good to show so people could see what uv got and give ideas to people ....tnx

  • I will make one but I am waiting until it warms up where I live, It will be out by the end of May, sorry about the delay

  • there are plenty of other gear videos on youtube
