  • Picked up a bran new one today, minus the Titanium lightening. This beast is a iron rod of a peace to lug around. But the way I carry the revolvers I can easily handle it. Can't wait till Thursday when I can get out to the range and put a couple boxes down range to make sure it functions proper before I can replace my 5 shot .38 with it as my main carry gun. Thanks for the good review Sootch00

  • @tnafguy Smith and Wesson makes the model 627 Performance Center which holds 8 rounds of .357 Mag and boasts a barrel length of 2 and 5/8ths inches. MSRP is $1049.00. They also make the model 327 which again holds 8 rounds of .357 Mag and boasts a 2" barrel and a MSRP OF $1269.00

  • Can you buy moon clips for it w/o have to modify the cylinder?

  • I got the normal blue color not t and she's assam I carry mine 24/7 I bobbed mine and love it

  • Great video!

  • I love the Magna Porting on this revolver.I'm sure it cuts down on the recoil quite a bit.

  • I am in the market for a revolver what do u think would b a good one for a back up peace ???

  • Sweet gun!! Great vid

  • For the guy asking wish one is better is like compering mecedes to a honda so if u have the xtra money go s&w if not go for the tourus i got 617 the got used dnt know if was used or not but i have put over 2000 round no problem wht so ever plus taurus was at one time partners with s&w

  • I want one :(

  • guys help.. i will buy one revolver but i dont know witch? .357 magnum with 8 shoot or .44 magnum with 6 shoot.. the both revolvers are from s&w ..please help

  • I used to have one in chrome. Excellent little .357 snub !

  • wow thats a great gun i need one of those and then some sort of handgun

  • I will buy one revolver, but i dont know, smith and wesson 627 with 8 rounds .357 magnum or a taurus 617 with 7 rounds. I know the taurus is cheaper than the smith and wesson, but dont know is the s&w or taurus better? Can you help me please?

  • Mr. 291229, Smith and Wesson did a test on their early titanium revolver cylinders and placed a solid steel block in front of the bullet when they fired off heavy loads (so the bullet was totally immobile). The titanium cylinder was totally unaffected. The steel cylinders produced shrapnel. So, yeah...This revolver can handle the heaviest load of .357 Magnum! Added to that, titanium flexes differently when exposed to the pressures of firing cartidges. It flexes, then returns as it was.

  • can i buy this gun in india??and how much do i have to pay for it?

  • Now THATS compact!

  • Re-do this with better quality pretty please ^^

  • just bought mine today :D

  • what do you think is a good price for one of these? I am looking at a used blue one for $360. Think thats a good price or can I get something better for that kind of money?

  • Sootch, you always do great reviews, and this is no different, your reviews are professional and really enjoyable. I'm glad your head is ok, I hope you didn't get a concussion. I was wondering how long does a magnum revolver barrell have to be to burn all the powder before the bullet comes out and it's not wasted as muzzel flash? Thank you.

  • way to control that muzzle flip sootch! when i've fired 357 magnum, i'm never that good. and i've never fired a titanium one, only blued steel. and i swear, it wants to jump outta my hand.

  • What is the song on this video?

  • Looks like the ported ones are discontinued on Taurus Website, but they still have the basic version for sale. the local gun shop has them listed on their website for ONLY $349.26!?! For a 357 HOLY CRAP! Nice review.

  • @ 45oneshotstop and OUTSHYNE if you dont like the way he makes his video, don't even waste your time posting stuff like that just don't watch the videos. Those of us who do like his videos don't want to hear that.

  • I have to comment. The first thing you did wrong is the loading at the beginning of the video. Learn how to load a revolver. The second thing is a question. Why are you shooting the double action revolver single action. If you like a single action ...get one. Any good shooter can shoot that gun double action and hit the target. Good info but I'm not sure you know as much as you think you do,

  • @45oneshotstop I have a Model 85 5 shot .38 and will be getting this to replace it. First off he loaded it probably with the gun in his chin from the angle, so shut up it was for showing the capacity. Second, that's the nice thing about a sa/da revolver, you can do either. My 85 I can shoot equally well both ways, I prefer Single though, it's easier to shoot accurately and pulling the hammer back is just old school fun. I think his vid's are funny and informative both.

  • obviously shooting 38 special... pss

  • wow that looks really light, i mean, if it was then you should hold on tight cause somethin that light exspecially being a 357 wow

  • What a pussy. FUCKIN just shoot it nigga!! Fuck that pulling the hammer back.

  • @OUTSHYNE this is not a drive by, hes not shooting at a 7 eleven clerk, hes not hanging with his home boys holding down them streetz, shut the fuck up you stupid faggot, videos like this are not for you, go holla at ya boys you waste of life

  • Attention all gun owners there is a bill called HR308 that will ban all magazines exceeding the compactly of 10 rounds. We cannot let the government infringe on our rights. Call your Governor and tell him to repeal this bill!

Copy and paste this to all the videos you watch.

  • godfather

  • Hey Sootch, nice review of the 617T. I can't wait to finish college in a few months and move to the States so I can finally take up shooting. More importantly, I love the music that you put here but like you said, it was done by some friends of yours? Would you know where I could purchase their CD? Amazing music man, simply amazing. Cheers from Singapore.

  • Hello everybody.. i have a question.. Is ths revolver better then .357 magnum smith and wesson model 686? with 7 shoots? thank youuuu..

  • @xXxNORALADYxXx Smith & Wesson revolvers generally have somewhat better fit and finish than Taurus revolvers. Nevertheless, many Tauruses are excellent guns. The S&W 686 Plus 7-shot, the gun you asked about, has an all steel frame, while the Taurus 617T Sootch is reviewing here has a titanium alloy frame. The Taurus is lighter in weight. That makes it better for lawful concealed carry, depending on your local laws. If you just want a gun for target shooting or home defense, buy the S&W.

  • whats the music?

  • Titanium is almost 2x stronger then steal I whant one I've been looking for a solid titanium gun for a long time.... They need to make all guns from the stuff I hate cheap fire arms the worst ever made is glock they have had thousands explod and actuly kill the shoter becase the plastic shaters and can actuly go threw your head I only buy steel becase or that resson. But I would love titanium

  • @JOHNNYSschool You'll never see the difference in buying a titantium gun over a steel gun, other then your wallet will be lighter. A steel gun will outlast you. Glocks don't blow anymore then any other firearm will. It's a tall tale.I have never heard of anybody dying from a Glock blowing up.

  • A thought accurred to me about the security key.I looks awefully like an allen hex key and I was wondering how close they are, because if a teenager can bypass the safety mech. with a allen wrench or slightly modified wrench, this key is alomst useless. I have 4 Taurus guns and all have this same security feature.I could look for myself but I keep my guns buried in a closet and I'm not going through the trouble when someone out there can tell me.I'm not so sure it would be good giving it over Utbe

  • Damn I had no clue to what I was missing when I got the stainless steel version with only 5 round and in only 38 special :(

  • theres one used at gander in grandville mi for 249.99

  • The woman's voice in the opening song is haunting! What is this song?!

  • My dad had one of these in 45.

  • thats the gun i had when i was a prostitute

  • @Trippze LOL

  • dont let a blonde touch that gun they might grab it by barrel because the handle is longer o.O

  • @Mr291229

There's a user's manual in the official Taurus website that states you should use at least 125 grain loadings for the titanium models cause lighter loadings may exceed the gun standards for pressure.

  • what is the song called

  • Could you recommend me something sorta like this gun for the under 500 price range? or a few so I can look around :) thanks

  • My girlfriend has this gun. She said she used to use it when she was a hooker.

  • @MIGHTYTHOR72 What seriously?

  • i think this looks fake with that matte finish

  • The Matte finish looks great!!!

  • I want one of these for the bush. Someone please bring me one here to Canada.

  • Man you have one!! lucky you. Trying to find one over here in europe but very hard to find. Nice vid.

  • tenho um taurus 5 tiros snuby excelente para portar.

  • I remember when those came out. I wanted one of those. The .357 ones were IMPOSSIBLE to get, so I ordered one in .45 COLT (which was later stolen.). The .357 ones you STILL can't find. Good luck finding any Titanium ones in anything but .38, in fact. I have the Blued Steel model 617. And it's a good gun.

  • my dad has a taurus all titanium 38 special. Really good for carry, good grip, no hammer, ported, great gun.

  • verey nice

  • How much is this gun right now if I can find it or if they have them in steel as well.

  • I've got the 617SS2, chrome. I own several HIGH end guns but it's my Taurus .357 that I carry with me everywhere. I LOVE IT !!!

  • @isisncasey How do like the Taurus, too many people I know don't like them at all, but I'm thinking of buying a 357 model 66 Taurus.

  • @isisncasey

I have the blue(purple) one. It's great. I changed to Hogue rubber grips. I didn't like the feel of original.

  • The song is sooo fucking annoying...

  • Nice weapon, I've got the 617SS2 and I LOVE it !

  • 1) these models are not discontinued, they are simply not selling them in titanium anymore

    2) why are you only shooting in single action? I am thinking about getting a 617 and was wondering what the recoil in double action is like

  • woops sorry for the double post

  • @yoimawesome55 reguardless of how the hammer is actuated the recoil will be the same. recoil comes from the type of bullet load (amount of powder)

  • @yoimawesome55 The recoil is the same single or double, it makes no difference.

    So the 617T is discontinued.

  • 1) these models are not discontinued, they are simply not selling them in titanium anymore

    2) why are you only shooting in single action? I am thinking about getting a 617 and was wondering what the recoil in double action is like

  • nice gun

  • wow!! i love taurus,,, wish i had this one awsome thanks for posting!

  • whats the weight difference between that and a steel version? anyone know

  • Hi I was wondering if the end of the chamber has a circular ring or crown or is it flush with the front of the gun? I noticed on mine its like machined off, missing that groove.......it looks awkward, just wondering if yours is like that. I contacted Budsgunshop and they said Taurus Brazil ships it to Taurus USA with it and then they machine the barrel end down. I find that explanation BS and Buds sold me a piece of crap.

  • I love the 617 I wish I could of found one I just went for the 605 which is the 5 shot version.

  • this is a monster gun .... and a awesomeness of safety very nice!

  • OMG i sooo love Taurus's revolvers....i shot a 627 tracker once....and im lookin at the 605 as well as the 617

  • I hear that in gun fights with a revolver you don't have time to keep pulling back the hammer so it is good to practice double action

  • amazing gun...

  • i love my 627 tracker,,,so this one must be nice too.i will look for one at gun shows

  • Looks like he had his face to close to a scope on a rifle when he fired it.

  • @Etrain777 Thanks but no....

  • @sootch00 Can this handle the heaviest load of 357 magnum?

  • @Mr291229 It should be able to handle the heavy loads. You may want to check with Taurus before going too hot. Thanks~

  • @Etrain777 i thought the same lol

  • @Etrain777 yea you can tell running up a hill with alot of rifles isnt gonna do that face was to close and it kissed him happens to the best of us

  • when my dad was still a police officer he bought a tourus 357 crome finish as a backup... i was so mad and told him to exchange with the bluish titanium...too bad he did not listen

  • I'd love to have that gun for carry during backpacking. The lightness of that Titanium makes it practical to carry on a multi-day hike. Only about 4-5 ounces heavier than my Beretta Tomcat .32, and a lot more useful in a bear attack!

BTW, I don't buy the story about the rifles and the slippery hill. I think your wife pistol whipped you for taking her .357 out without her permission.

  • does anybody know how most revolvers are made now ? SA/DA or DAO or SAO ?? please tell me

  • According to the armor level.

  • what is the MAX. distance for this pretty revolver?

  • I'd say to accurately hit a target, 25 yds would be max unless you were really exceptional and that would be stretching it, in my opinion.

  • Taurus went from making total pieces of crap in the early 1980's to making some decent products. Kinda like Huyndia automobiles back in 1988 you couldn't buy one that lasted 2 years, now they're good cars with 100,000 mile warrenty.

  • I have the stainless 617, and it is a beauty! It stays next to my bed.

  • Thanks for the review!

I'm going to search the use market for this gun.

  • i love the gun

  • For such a light gun it has a pretty small kick

  • How much for this gun?

  • These are no longer made so you'll only be able to find them on the secondary market. The steel versions run about $350 and up. Thanks~

  • @sootch00 how do you mean secondary market ? (sorry that i ask but i dont get it)

  • Taurus stopped making the Titanium Rrevolvers so in other words the Used Market :) Thanks!

  • @sootch00

but do they still make this revolver ? do you know that

  • No, They make the same style in Steel but not Titanium.

  • @sootch00

so it is the same but only in steel now

  • Awesome music in your vids! You should make note of the artist in each video, I think many a music collection would benefit from knowing who is singing. I do have a question as to the porting - I have never shot a ported gun of any kind - I am familiar with the principle and obviously it does work - but I would love to hear how you feel about a direct comparison with a similar gun with no ports. I have shot full size, long barrel 357 and even by comparison this thig seems very manageable!

  • The porting on this gun makes an unbelievable difference in recoil. Even with full house mag loads, the pistol shot like a 38sp. I was very pleased.

The music is from a couple that are friends of mine and the recording was done in they're basement. No copyright problems :) Thanks~

  • Thanks for the reply, be sure to give my best to your musical friends, Ican't wait to hear more in your videos - great stuff, so genuine and full of feeling, talented friends for sure! I don't know when or if I will get a chance to get my hands on a ported handgun here in the People's Republic of Canada :) but at least I get to experience it through your videos! All the best to you and yours.

  • great vid! how much is this thing going for now i cant find it on google?

  • Oh, and I forgot to say, I LUV the music Sootch. Some people just have no idea of the culture of the south. Pure blues baby, pure blues.

  • Thanks Bud, I appreciate you stopping by.

  • Great video Sootch. Just thought I'd come by and see what you've been up to these past couple of weeks. Looks like I have some catching up to do.

    See ya

    Bud

  • OMG This music makes me want to rip my ears off. I like your vids, please get some new music.

  • so when you dont say the price in the vid i guess that means its alot lol jk

  • Nice video, The recoil looked slightly substantial so assume you were shooting 357 mag ammo. But you didn't take any shots in double action. How come? I have a S and W 686 Plus (7 rounds, 4 " barrel) that handles 357 mag with a lighter recoil than my Gock 9MM. But my S and W 357 Mag - 2' snubbie, 24 ounce stainless steel - recoil hurts my palm when I shoot 357 mag. Even with a hogue grip. So I only shoot 38 Special Defense Hydra Shok hollow tip which is an very easily managed recoil.

  • This gun was a dream to shoot because of the porting, but the grips are also very unique. Recoil was not a problem with full house magnum loads. Check out 5:20 for double action shooting. I had footage of the target and somehow overlooked adding it to the video. The DA sequence was as good as the single action. Take care~

  • Thanks. I must have missed the 5:20 shooting segment

  • @oldwithgold

yeah, I missed it too and had the same question. Sootch brought up double action but I missed the demo first time thru

geez, pretty obvious now, I musta been reading comments already

  • 7 shots !!! thats cheating... everyone knows that revolvers are only supose to hold 6 shots max....

Can't say I am a huge fan of locks built into guns.... but other than that it looks like a great revolver.

  • A stainless 617 is my carry weapon atm, real comfortable w/ smart carry holster, can't beat 7-shots of buffalo bore 357.

  • The transfer bar doesn't block the firing pin.

  • That is correct... I mis-spoke. It blocks the hammer. Thanks for the heads up~

  • Nice video!!!*****

Whats this nice music (end and beginning)?

  • The music is from Friends of mine that did the CD in their basement on a multi-track. They're incredible.

    Thanks~

  • I like the taurus judge it takes 410 shot shells aswell, versatility, chaper to shoot on shot?

  • watching this video makes me sad, in canada that barrel is too short. or maybe not (4.1'' or shorter is illegal). the stupid law says "if you don't have a prohibited liscence (short barrels, full auto, .50cal BMG) than you can never get one. that just makes me sad cuz i love full auto and short barrels. although with this gun i don't like single action. i couldn't buy a prohibited weapon in the USA could I?

  • Anyone no wher i can get a handgun with out a lisence, i neeeddd one let me no i got cash up front

  • texas

  • a gun show

  • I don't think you'd make it across the border or that a gunshop could sell it to a Canadian Citizen.Maybe one day you guys can change it.... it doesn't hurt to dream. The Revolver is Double Action but can be fired single action as well. Many thanks~

  • ya, watching vid again i heard it's double action too, would a gun shop sell 10rnd+ mags or 5rnd+ rifle mags? law says pistols are 10rnd clips max and rifles are 5rnds max

  • There are no U.S. Federal regulations on High cap mags now that the Assault Weapons ban has been repelled. Only a handful of states limit mag cap and that's 10 rds , either pistol or rifle. You should be able to aquire hi-cap mags without any questions. I buy them all the time with no record. That's your call. Good Luck.

  • That thing is amazing, i'd like it even more if it had some hogue's

  • Love the video. BTW, the title (just above the video reads, "Taurus Model 671T 357 Magnum Titanium Revolver". Should be 617T instead. Don't know if you can fix that, but I thought I'd let you know.

  • Thank you my friend~ I've changed it :) thanks for the heads-up!

  • Thanks Sootch, nice video. I'd loved to see the shooting results though. I'm always curious about the accuracy of these short barrel revolvers.

  • Aw man, I had accuracy results that I forgot to include. It was incredibly accurate, both single and double action.

Sorry ~ Thanks for the heads up.

  • Uh ohhh!!! Was it that clay that gets hard and slick that is so common in the Carolinas. LOL I recall taking a very fast trip down a hill in my grandparents back yard due to that stuff. It's ok though, the tree stopped me. (and people wonder why I love the desert) Hope everyone/everything is ok. Another great vid!!! Thx, Good Day !!!

  • sootch - another well thought out and presented handgun review. You do quality work my friend! Glad you weren't seriously injured in your fall . . . how did the rifles fair?

  • 5 stars but 10 if you have a video of your slip down the hill lol kidding.

Who makes a 7-8 shot 357 that is comparable ?

  • LOL! I'd be a rich man if I had that video~

S&W make a 386PD 7 shot 357mag. You can still find the Taurus on the used market. Thanks Bro~

  • and i think they still make this model in stainless

  • I saw one of those at a resent gun show.

Had I knowing that they were discountined I would have bought it

    Damm!

  • Nice gun! It doesnt have excessive recoil. A DA/SA revolver is on my wish list. I dont own a revolver yet. I think every collection needs a revolver. Thanks for the post.

  • I'm thinking this might be a great revolver for my girlfriend because 1) she loves revolvers and 2) it's compensated to reduce recoil. Are there any other good low-recoil full-size caliber options out there for less money?

  • Another awesome vid. That is a great find very interesting.5/5 as always. Thanks.

  • Dzus safety!

I busted my ass more that once in that notoriously slick red clay!

    Alright! 5*!

  • Really nice safety feature!

    Great Video

And the best part about a .357 mag is in a "pinch" you can also use .38 special ammo too.

  • i think I'll listen to that tip about carrying guns on a wet slope

  • Great review Don and I could not agree more. I bought mine in 2001 and it is one of my favorite guns. Didn't know that they discontinued it.

  • Beautiful weapon, Titanium wow!

    Great safety features

would that be considered a snub-nose?

Looks like it'all come out of the hoster "quick"

I actual stabbed the bottom of my thumb with sissors on monday, 5 stitches, tetnus shot, antibiotics, "pain"

    sissors are deadly man

    BTW I Got my

2 USGI Bandoleer ar .223 w/ 30 stripper clips 2 Clip Guides, and 8 Cardboard Silencers. for 6.22 on ebay TY Bro

  • Hey Bro~ I guess Monday was not our day! LOL! Yes, this is considered a Snubnose. It's thick , but light and small for a 357 mag.

That's great about the Repak kit! Let's me know I'm doing something right!

    Thanks!

  • nice im planning on gettin' the taurus model 617 i think its the same as that but not in titanium. what kind of holster do you use for it? thanks!

  • wow that metals in luitenit dans legs!

  • Why haven't you posted a video that was less than awesome? You get 4 stars for that accent alone.

Seriously Have you posted a vid about long term ammo storage? keeping my powder dry is a serious concern for me and id be grateful for some advise. *****

  • I must admit im not a big revolver fan, but that is a sexy lookin beast. Might have to add that to my wish list. Great vid man!

  • Hey anyone who can answer this question please do so. Its off topic but what is the differnce between a .45 and a

.40 caliber bullet other than the a slight difference in size from what I can tell their is very little difference in the amount of powder, FPS, velocity etc.

  • :- ) It's a cannon. Thanks for bringing this to my attention and contributing to my education. Do you thin an easily improved tool could be used to release the security pin?

  • Love the music too, reminds me of my late great buddy, Mr Stevie Ray Vaughan.

  • Great Video

  • i like your music Sootch!

  • Wow! I almost got the 617! I didn't know they discontinued them. I'm very happy with my 651, though.

  • Ohh, maybe they just discontinued the Titanium model.

  • you can kill a bear with that thing... great vid. ... keep the vids coming

checkout my movies in 2 minutes page

  • nothing like the feel of an old school wheel gun in your hands!

  • quite a kick for such a compact gun , nice review
