There was a time that Limbaugh defended himself by saying he was an "entertainer," now he's offended by that comment? (who's got thin skin now?) And isn't this incident proof that he is incendiary?

I personally believe, what Steele did not "get" from being elected GOP leader, is that the level-headed republicans want less ditto head, and more traditional conservative movement in the party. From my perspective the infighting, especially instigated by Rush, is funl to watch!

Rush is not bullying anybody. He is doing what he has always done, talking about conservatism. If Republicans seek to be more conservative, then they will listen what Rush says.

Rush is not a "hate-machine". Liberals want to characterizes Rush this way because they cannot respond to the content of what he says.

RNC chairman's apology was a way to keep the GOP from further division. I don't think that he needed to. I think Mr. Limbaugh needs to reach out also and not just bully those with whom he disagrees.

Many people are afraid of bullies so they keep quiet with Mr. Limbaugh's comments and the rest of them want to appear to be politically correct, and are afraid to critisize the democrats. Stuck between a bully and the political correctedness.

If Republicans were smart, they would realize that Rush is not a politician, but a radio comedian and a good business man, whose business is making money ($400 million new contract) for Rush Limbaugh and not the Rep party, but rather at the expense of the Republican party.

Lawrytr and eksdem are referring to different Pew Surveys. The most recent ('08) is the one Lawrytr cites. But the more important point is that lots of equally well informed people disagree on policy issues. This whole premise-- i.e. that the more information you have, the more "right" you are on issues-- is unsound. What's key is the ability to support positions not only with facts but logical and compelling arguments. I think Limbaugh does not succeed in that department. Mainly ad hominem.

According to the same PEW Research, readers of The New Republic (decidedly Liberal) are even better informed than Rush's listeners. What does any of this prove about being "right" on the issues? Political information is not the same as political wisdom. Look at the trouble this country is in thanks to some very "well informed" pols and financial big-wigs. If Rush's audience is well informed, that does not make them-- or him-- "right" about "our country" as you put it.
