I have some questions about psychology:

(1) Why do we love flying?

(2) Wy do we want to imagine that ocean animals can fly in the sky, especially children?

(3) Why do we like to imagine and to image aeroplanes as ocean animals? (eg. 747= whale & 787 = dolphin)

(4) Why do we want to build an aeroplane looking like a penguin in the ocean?

(5) Why do we enjoy to image sea animals are flying at sea?

Aircraft no3 visited Derby yesterday the home of the RR Trent 1000 Engine and did a flypast over the engine plant , and I was their along with about 70-80 people who came down and virtually every single member of the RR plant was out aswell. I was very lucky to be standing virtually directly underneath it as it flew over at 1,000ft I could even see the red flashing beacon, She is beautiful , Elegant and Graceful and she is super quiet. Thanks Boeing & RR and also the weather which stayed clear.

Boeing will never make th 797 because they can not copy airbus. The dreamliner is basikly the same as the a350 but the airbus is safer and uses less fuel. Airbuses are better all together anyway they have had much less crashes and are easier to fly as I am A pilot for Aer Lingus

I know about dihedral/anhedral principle. But it's a "fixed" characteristic of the wing design (kind of angle in wing attachment to fuselage). What I'm talking about is the "strange" flexibility of wing, specially in its 1/3rd outer part, which doesn't look common to me on such an a/c... I wonder if this is a consequence of material (i.e. : composit) of the wing ? This wing looks like more a glider one...

There are two types of design concepts in mechanical engineering - stiffness design and strength design. When accuracy is important, i.e. arms of robot in assembly lines, we do stiffness design. On the other hand, when the deflection of structure is not important, we do strength design. In airplane wing, lifting force does not change much even if there's large deflection. Seems folks in Boeing have done beautiful job.

That's called dihedral. It aids in the stability of the aircraft.  If you look at an airplane where the wings are on top and "droop" that's called anhedral. Same principal all and all.

I am REALLY dissopointed in Boeing. That strike put them back 2 years! I dont really like Airbus, but you do have to admit that they work qouickly... (Maybye thats why so many air buses are crashing.) But the A380 is aleready flying for airlines, but the 787 has not even taken its first test flight! I know your probbly thinking "Better safe than sorry", but how safe can they be? Step up to the plate Boeing! But i still love Boeing! If it aint Boeing, Im not going! :-)

Beautiful video. 5 stars. The Boeing 787 was orgionally supposed to come out in 2008, but theywere having many problems with the composites. They fixed that problem but now they are having difficulties with the wing design. When it does come out though.... its going to be one beautiful effecient plane.
