I bought my 604 right as they were discontinuing them to make way for the 605. Why? Not only could I snag one cheap, but it came with a web browser, which costs $30 for the 605. However, that was the worst decision I ever made, because the 605 has an amazinger resolution and the $30 browser supports flash, which the 604 does not. I prefer the design of the 604 though. It seems more like a high-end product, save for the buttons.

you clearly have no idea on how to review or compare products.. as all you seem to be showing is that one does things a little quicker than the other.. And why is this?? for one the 605 is powering an 800x480 monster of a screen resolution compared with the crappy 480 x 272 of the 604 on the left.. and you were trying to say the 604 is better!! clearly the 605 kicks ass over the 604, just the screen res seals the deal.

Get the new Archos 5. Go to their site and be blown away. (If Archos 5 is too much for you, get the 605, it has a better user interface and slightly better touch capabilities).

Technically, the 605 is the better player, however having used each once, the ergonomics are better on the 604 wifi, it's much faster, and its more stylish and better made. The screen also has more contrast and richer tones. However, it isn't equipped with flash, and it doesn't have anywhere near as many pixels. I personally actually prefer the 604, though the 605 is better.

Can I use the 604 wifi as a voice recoder without attaching any external parts.. I can update firmware stuff, the 604 wifi has a microphone but does it have the ability to record voice for lectures? How much does it cost for brand new archos 604 wifi in ontario, canada??

The 605 Wifi has more functionality than the 604. And I use it for lectures too and attach my helmet cam to record the board along with the conversation.

there a browser plugin you need to purchase from archos and it connects to wifi connections much like a laptop does.

Gen 5 Archos's are better for they have the latest upgrades. I personally like the 605 because it has an HD capable screen.

I went to Circut city and they had the archos 605 on display. When I turned it off and turned it on again, that spash screen didn't come up, it just showed the hourglass. How can you turn the Archos 605 off completely?

hold it down for a longer time... if its on charging, you need to go to the settings panel, then to power, and click the complete shutdown... otherwise while charging, it won't turn off

To me it seems like the 604 has a wider screen and the 605 is not as wide, but they are both 4.3" so is it just me or are the screens different? Someone please clarify.

maybe the 605 boots a little slower because it has more software programs in it. when I just had windows only in my PC it booted up fast, But when I instaled all my other programs,games,music then my PC booted up a few seconds slower. :)

Could get a rather large performance boost by running something like regestry mechanic or some other tuneup program that gets rid of excess "fat". like regestry entries to shortcuts that dont exsist anymore
