@dianablanton1984, that's right! gotta love it. just to add, i did find a few more stations. it was rare, but KODS in reno, Nevada used it for once on a 70's show, another station in the huntsville al area used it, and i think one in the delmarva area used it too.
that's actually drake series 1. lot of stations used that opener. of course, we did here in la, KFRC did, (with a little slight change), CKLW did of course. a lot of stations still use it, a station in Los Malinos used it for a 70's show. we still got that, "oldies sound" going, a lot still do it, but out of that, few stream. one recently added to my online presets was WGRQ in frederick, MD.
why does this sig remind me of WRKO's jingle from back in their top 40 days? I do remember in '02 WRKO had a station ID with almost the same jingle, with their "anniversary" they had of their talk format. I don't know if I recorded that ID off the air or not, but it does sound alike.
I remember by one recording I have left from our stuff from the '69-'73 era that back then they did have similar jingles. This was before the '75 'You' series. The one I have left is an hourly ID with singers: "WRKO-- Bostonnnnnn".
maybe its the same publisher of the "jingle"? a JAM produced jingle/sounder, perhaps? The WRKO Boossstoon was used on their memorable IDs back (I have to say) more than 5 years ago, along with the jingle. That would be the only time I would hear such thing on the radio in my time.

PAMS of Dallas might have been the producer. They've been around since '51, and they are still at it now. See: pams dot - com..
