My guess as to the missing cylinder? Taken off of captured or dead Russian, cylinder ditched seperate from the revolver to make it more difficult to pick up and use. Cool find though, I would love to have a relic Nagant!
@ypes123 It's a mass poduced Russian revolver lol they're everywhere and they cost about $99 dollars even now, not to mention that this doesn't even have a cylinder. Hardest thing to find for this thing is the ammo.
@ImWatchinTheTube Actually an original NKVD/KGB issued suppressor with leather wrap is the hardest thing to find for a Nagant revolver (considering that there's only 1 known example still in existence, and it's sitting in a glass case in the Tula Arsenal museum, still attached to its pistol). Second hardest thing is an original presentation model (something like 10 in existence, each inscribed to someone who also received a Hero's Star and was a very high ranking member of the Bolshevik Party).
I piece of history has been brought home. Bet your heart rate went up when you found that. Makes you wonder what whent down in that spot 60-70 years ago.
Hey I have a old metal detector and where would be the best spot to find old guns or metal war things in Cali?
Also would it be possible to restore that? maybe not getting it too work but to make it look good again?

If this was an AK-45, SKS, or Mosin Nagant, you probably would still be able to shoot it. I bet it still has some rifling....

Very cool find. If only that old gun could talk...

Either that's a really lucky find, or that's a gun a murderer tried to ditch, either way, finders keepers.
