@quyenthenghiem what do u mean Samsonov shouldn't have lost? Ri Chol Guk obviously played to a higher level than Samsonov. Just because some player is not ranked does not mean he's not top class. If you pay attention to the details of how Ri handled some balls, you should see that he is at least as good as Ryu Seung Min. There are too many seriously good players that do not participate in ITTF matches due to various reasons.

@quyenthenghiem When Ryu Seung Min, Lee Jung Woo, Samsonov, Boll, Oh Sun Eun, and Michael Maze played in the Chinese Super Circuit, many of them frequently lost to many unknown Chinese players. Those Chinese players were not even on the Chinese National team, and no ITTF ranking. They were Chinese provincial players who represented the many provinces and cities of China. There are thousands of seriously great players who don't have ITTF ranking because of finances and national team limits.

But man, this Ri is amazing... he did very well in the Beijing olympics as well!
yeah, wow. you can tell how pumped up that guy was to begin with. and after samsonov lost a set his energy just went way down as he could see the huge boost of confidence in the other player. great example of the psychological aspect to a match.
