The late June Christy was one of the fine gems of the Big Band Era, which included some great singers such as Kitty Kallen, Jo Stafford and even Doris Day. She was American and no relation to Julie Christie, the Oscar-winning British actress. As well, there were only sixteen years between them.
WHHHHHHHAT?!?!?!!?!?!?! The camera isn't changing angles every 1.3 seconds and isn't shaking to death to satisfy the ADHD computer hyper-on-ritalin "viewer"?!?!?!?!?!? How professionally produced to suit an AUDIENCE!!!!!!
Oooh! June Chirsty - What a soft, dreamy voice! Don't even care that this recording's speed is slightly off in a couple of spots. It just hits the spot - my heart spot! I also love Kitty Kallen and Harry James' version too. Don't know which one I like more, so I play them both back-to-back! Oooh, I love June Christy's voice though!
Kenton could hardly believe he stumbled on her after losing Anita O'Day. She was just little Shirley Luster trying to break through in Chicago, having come from Decatur, Illinois. She could not even read music (never did learn) but he knew immediately he'd found gold. She was always treated with the greatest respect, even at the very beginning when she was a nobody, and boy did she deliver the hits.
Yeah, she really does sound a bit like Rosemary Clooney here. She's quite young here and hasn't fully explored her own stylings. But still a world-class performance.
I love this song. I heard it on a documentary last year and downloaded it on my Ipod. It has become one of my favorite songs and singers. Went to amazon and but a couple of her CDs love her.
This is perhaps the finest performance of this song by one of the greatest female vocalists ever. She made many more recordings after this one.Superb singer.

I wish there was some video of later June. Does anyone think ANYTHING was ever video recorded during her 'Cool School' years?
