with the MIDI IN port, does it merge the incoming signal with the kx25's midi? for example could i connect my keyboard to the kx25, control cutoff and resonance etc, then output all of that to my sonic cell sound module? thanks
For people having trouble: Well, for anyone with a KX series keyboard there is a setting in Utilities that specifies if MIDI is transmitted via USB or traditional MIDI outs. The manual says the default factory settings are for USB but I just checked mine and it was set for traditional MIDI.
i hate that yamaha stop selling these i had one just to controlmy sounds in my mv8800 but i took it back cause someone gave me a keyboard for free , now i want it back , i need to find someone with one for sale
why do some of the drum patterns have weird timing. There are micro gaps when the beat turns around on the 1. weird. is that your computer having issues?
The Axiom is only a "controller" e.g. it has no sounds built into it. You would need either a sound module or a computer to make your sounds. essentially, the controller only sends commands or signals to an external sound device, you would then hook up that device to an amp.
I'm plannig to buy a midi controller keyboard to work with reason or other. I play in an acoustic instrument band, so the point is to create environment sounds, eventually some percursion simple loops, recording and performing live. But not doing pure electronic music.
I'm deciding between Yamaha KX-61 and M-Audio Axiom 49...
What would be your choice, concerning also to device and keyboard quality? :P
I'd have to go with the Axiom. but honestly, there really isn't much difference IMO with controllers. theres no different sounds or anything, it just depends on the quality.
The KX-61, by far. The Axiom is not even in the same class as far as I'm concerned. Not to mention that extra octave will come in much handier than you think. 61 versus 76 or 88 is less of a difference than 49 versus 61.
This is a terrible demo by the way. This is a *controller* ... you can pair it with any software... you can make it sound like a Steinway Model D if you want.
Is this MIDI Keyboard any good with Garageband? Cause Garageband doesn't have that many preset sounds. How does it correspond? Will I need to switch to Cubase to have the full range of sounds? It's really a pitty that Garageband hasn't got a huge variety on presets.. =(
Hahaha i just bought one of these today! i'm a noobie when it comes to these things but i hope i can get better! i can already play the guitar but i like making electro house music
well, that's more of a problem with some of the phrases. they are seamless, but a lot of them are intended to offer pauses at the end for funk or guitar riff emulation. It's the same ARP engine as the Motif, so if you like the motif arps, you will most likely like this.

I don't see much value on this keyboard's arpeggiator as many software even virtual synth have it nowadays.

please reply, can you plug a usb keyboard such as the "M-Audio Axiom 25 USB MIDI Controller Keyboard" into an amp?????

Thanks :) I've bought the KX-61. I'm happy with it, concerning the goals I wanted to achieve with it.

no unless you hook it to a computer/laptop then hook the computer/laptop to a mixer then hook it up to amplifiers

Another good review, Bill. You redeem Gearwire of any past suckiness as far as I'm concerned.
