Sangen handlar om to høvdinger på Færøy,Trond og Sigmund.Dei er ikkje akkurat venner,så Trond sender bud til hans venner og seglar mot Sigmunds gård. Det er natt,og dei prøvar å bryte seg inn. Sigmund klarar å flykte etter noen utskjelliger og litt våpengny. Han hoppar i havet, og Trond følgjer etter med båt. Trond finn han ikkje. Sigmund, som er fullstendig utmattet, reker i land, og blir plukkt opp av Sigmund sine venner. Doh!
@mort2k As a faroeman, I feel the need to explain a few things. The first one: The "song" as you call it isn't a song... it is a "kvæði" (a ballad). The second one: The conflict between Tróndur í Gøtu and Sigmund, eventhough Tróndur killed Sigmund's father and uncle, more about "the old customs" vs. "the new customs". Sigmundur was sent by the norwegian king to convert the islands to christianity. This wasn't done peacefully but by the sword. And naturally some took offence, thereamongst Tróndur

Eg syns nå eigentlig Hov(Enslaved - monumension plata) sin versjon av Sigmundskvadet er beitre. Ein litt meir dyster melodi.
