  • Felicidades hermano fue un excelente cover, mis respetos!!! Yo estoy aprendiendo a tocar bajo electrico, ojala algun dia llegue a sacar algo asi!!!

  • You said strings make a huge difference. I'm buying new strings this weekend and was recommended to buy Marcus Miller Fat-Beams. What is your opinion on that?

  • awesome!!

  • This is probably one of the best covers of such a classic teaching song! But it's easier to play this on a 5 string than a 4 string.

  • @yaktur Not really he doesn't even use that string.

  • I don't know much about bass (but I play guitar), but that sounded great, there was one noticeable mistake that I saw

  • @TheaterDiego what did u tune ur strings to in this song?

  • Another good cover, but may I just point out, the song can be played freely, it doesn't have to match the artist's tempo, quaver for quaver

  • awsome dude

  • Man this was awesome, I learned to play this song just by watching you play ! great job

  • Lovely job, nice tone - just great!

  • good cover men

  • @markartur6 man*

  • I got the same bass too but I can't get my tapping to sound like that LOL!! Great job man!!

  • nice man ur real talented, u learn that by ear?

  • r u 4 real u really think that a rogue could produce that type of sound u r insane! for the record its a ibanez sr505

  • he IS running it straight through his computer... and probably using anything from Reason to Cubase to Logic to mix it. After that the tone of the bass is made reduntant

  • cool........! is that a rouge bass?

  • Its an Ibanez SR505? I know its an SR series. I have the SR500.

  • excellent

  • Muy bueno

I play guitar but want to buy a bass to record. How do you like that bass?I love the tone. Great Playing!!!

  • i have the same bass and it is great but dude it gets scratched so easily. i scratched it just by playing it. my fucking fingernails dented it

  • nice cover, its a beautiful song.

  • El sonido es magnifico.Me encanta el Ibanez sr 505 y en tus manos es impresionante, no me canso de escucharla.Estupendo en definitiva.

  • it's real and very very good, just out of sync

  • nah its real. he covered it really well but u can tell. just listen closely

  • ??sure??

    i don't think so...

  • Better pack those bags and while you're in the asylum, learn to notice the nuances.

  • muito bom brother, parabéns!

    congratulations!

  • *cough*perfection*cough*

  • I read in the video info that you were using Guitar Rig. Im looking to try to get guitar/bass software but im kinda new to what you need! Could you tell me what you plug the bass into and what software you were using and etc.?

Very good cover! I recently bought this bass and its beautiful on my Ampeg 100watt

  • it's SR505

  • WooooW! Best "The Vision"-Cover if ever seen! You did it like Victa!

    Peace from Austria! ;)

  • amazing.

  • beatifull song! great cover!

  • Beautiful job my brother. Very tasty playing. You have a great tone & skills. I've owned Spectors,Conklins,Warwicks,Prestige Ibanezs,& other high basses but I have say the Ibanez SR 505 is one of the best bass values out there, I've got one in my arsenal. It sounds & plays great for a fraction of the cost of the others. Thanks for the music man, much success.Peace

  • very well done in my opinion! almost everything vic plays seems like a mountainous challenge but you made it look a little easier! im definitely gonna work on it!

  • thats so nice man well done we need more bass players like u haha

  • Hola Diego..por favor si te doy mi direcciòn puede mandar la partitura de the vision? Yo no la he encontrada por ninguna parte!

    Gracias!!!!

  • Excelente! y buenisimo el bajo! Hace poco me compre uno, asi que ya me hice socio del club de los sr505. Saludos desde Baires.

  • very, very, very good!

Good soul, good taste, in time, in tune...

Sometimes these advanced-technique songs are played in a so sterile way, only to show virtuosity. Instead, you play Music.

    Go on studing, man!

  • really good!

  • this is really good =]

are u usin any affects nd would you reccomend i get a SR505?

  • that was really good...congrats!!!!

  • Bad ass dude, one of my fav tune by Vic. Alot of time went into that Im sure.

  • Very relaxing

  • Woow ! That's beautiful...

  • Fives and Faves! Keep em coming!

  • good sound!!! well done

  • This is really great. what effects are you using? what amp?

  • it says right in the description hes plugged into guitar rig 2.

  • Congratulations, man! and "HI" from a bass-man from Romania :)Excellent job!

  • wow - awesome playing!

your harmonics on 'portrait of tracy' are also great...

    thanks for putting these up!

  • howdy, what are your eq settings? I struggle to get a reliable sound on my sr505.

  • I mostly use the Bass EQ on flat, maybe a little negative on the highs knob.

Good strings also, make a huge difference in bass sound.

    Peace.

  • wow muy bueno, buen sonido ademas

    felicitaciones

  • very inspiring. Im thinking of purchasing a Warwick 4-string standard for myself.

  • You do it justice. Excellant.

  • For those who felt that I was being unfair by my statement, I apologize, it wasn't meant to offend anyone, it was something that my instructor told me, I used to memorize and copy music, but would never make it my own. but after learning how to put my heart into the song, that's when I began to evolve as a musician and bass player. So if that was offensive, then again... I apologize.

  • No problem, you are totally free to express anything you want to.

In my case, I just love to play this kind of music. My own creations are of a totally different style, my creativity it's applied 100% to my band.

I play this mostly for fun, and because it a nice tune, isn't it? ;)

    Peace.

  • Like I said before... absolutely amazing. What style of music do you play? I am starting to apply "Fusion" and bringing it into more of a Neo-Soul era where I am. I can tell you it is an eye opener and it's a genre that is completely new to me.

  • I play Prog Metal, wich is a totally different style as you may think.

But as i said, I love this kind of music too, and just play it for fun.

    Peace!

  • I'd definitely like to hear it if you have any on here...

  • you can listen some of our tracks on our myspace:

    myspace/sacrvm

    Peace!

  • bro nice playing!! nice tone too!! what kinda bass are you playing with?? is it a 505?? cuz it sounds hella nice!! thanks for posting some entertaining skills

  • It is indeed, an Ibanez SR505.

    Peace.

  • Hi again :) I was wondering if you could check my version of playing Victor Wooten - The Vision (with lots of mistakes :P). I would use some advice from you (the one who played this song gooooooood :)). + I cant play the part you are playing on 1:48 (would use some advices how to play too). Thank you very much for atetion :)

  • Amazing man! The "mistakes" weren't noticeable. How long have you been playing? Flatwounds were used in early Elvis period rock, and gave the thump sound on fretted basses.

  • Hey since you seem to be a good bassist (obviously) can I ask your opinion on something? I'm stuck between a sr405 and the 505. Since im only a freshman in highschool I dont have a ton of cash and was wondering if spending 580 on the 505 oposed to 450 on the 405 would be worth it. thanks in advance =)

  • Thanks for your coment!

It depends on how well you play bass :P

If you are just starting, I would recommend the 405. The 505 can get a little frustrating at first because of it's ghost harmonics. You can't stop all the strings all the time.

But it gives you more tonal range if you are experienced. You can use a Low B or even a High C.

Bassically depends on your experience, and what music you play.

    I? I'm just a noob with a 5-stringer :P

  • Haha thanks for the reply man. Really nice of you. Well not to brag or anything, I'd say I'm a pretty decent bassist for only playing about 2 years. Right now I have a pretty crappy GSR 100. I went to Sam Ash (a music store if you might not know)&played both the 405 and the 505. 405 has this weird double knob;1 on top of the other but really nice tone&easy to manage knobs. the 505 had more space between the fretboard&first pickup which appealed to me. How much was the bass when you bought it?

  • Well, I do not live in the USA, but that's the price. For 600 dlls you have an out-of-average bass.

Also when you compare the 2 versions of it, check out the string spacing. The spacing in the 505 is a bit smaller, and if you do lots of slaping, it can be a huge drawback.

  • Heh, well thanks to some input from you and others as well, we now have the same bass. One problem that I'm having is with my action on the bass, did you get it setup so that it was lowered? And about how high is yours?

  • Yeah, totally. I set up my basses myself. You only need a couple of tools, patience, and some good tutorials.

My G string is about 2mm high from the 24th fret, and the B string about 3mm.

You may also want to set up the intonation aswell, you do that from the bridge.

Just look some tutorials on google, and with time, you'll get the bass of your dreams.

  • absolutely amazing. that's all I can say. less knowledge, more heart in it next time. we know your good let's see you in the song is what I am trying to say

  • Don't be an ass.

  • I have a quick question. What type of strings do you use? I've been considering changing my roundwounds to flatwounds or halfwounds, but I'm not sure which brands are good or bad. I just need a light push in the right direction; just some general types and names.

    Thanks!

  • Those on the video are D'addario .45 roundwounds, with Low B. Or maybe Ernie Balls.... can't remember :/

Don't know about the Halfwounds, but the flats are normally used in fretless basses, i've never heard a fretted bass with flats, maybe it's an interesting combination.

  • I frequently share a Fender P with another bass player at gigs and he uses flats on his fretted. It sounds quite nice, and I'm used to that arrangement. I've been looking into changing the strings to halfwounds (grounded roundwounds), and it's good to hear that those might be D'Addario. The only halfwounds I've seen are D'Addario!

    Thanks.

  • Beautiful. Excellent. Superb.

Love the bass too. I just bought one for myself for Christmas. Magnificent instrument. Your video helped me decide on a favorite tone. Thanks, and keep up the good work! =)

  • Congrats on your new bass!!

I'm glad you decided looking at my video, it is truly a great instrument.

And thanks everyone else for watching, rating, and making comments!

  • really good diego... i really liked it

  • really great, my only suggestion is to play with a metronome and really get the timing down

  • dude, u nailed it basically

  • so good

  • your fingers look like spiders

  • Well played! Beautifully done!

  • Really Pretty!! Nice Touch!!

  • It's awesome, but you stopped right before my favourite part of the song!

    Still, really solid feel bud.

  • Hey man great feeling,I like too much your version of this Vic's tune.I think all the details are so important, the technique its just the sacred tool(like an artistic workshop).I'll be expecting for more.Hope you can visit my channel.Light and blessings

  • Awesome this is amazing!

  • I'm so so sorry !!! Are you using guitar rig 2? But i got a prob with titles, i can't read the whole of it even though i click more info :( so its not my fault!! haha

  • son of a b*tch that was almost flawless. Rockin man!

  • So beautiful!!!!!

    you're COOL!!!

  • Very nice playing, accurate cover. Also excellent bass you have. I am gonna buy it one of these day. Also I noticed you are using some light effects?

  • Just some reverb and compression.

Looks like noone ever reads the description :P

  • Simply beautiful, you are really talented.

  • Hey, I'm going to get a Sr 505 ibanez bass tommorow (:, i'm wondering if you could tell me what tuning you are in when u play that song ? , and also can I find tabs for this song ? or else i'll do it by ear, anyways, I love your playing, you are close to victor wooden boy

  • Congrats on getting the bass! I'm sure you wont regret it.

As for the tunning, i use standard with Low B (BEADG). I think the are heavy gauge, but i'm not sure...

And I'm FAR from Vic. There's a lot of people imitating him and playing his songs, but he is the one who created them! So there's no match at all!! :P

  • sweet sound!!!

    very good job!

  • good job

  • Thanks for your response!PS nice playing

  • Could you please tell me if the head of the SR505 is colored Brown Mahogany, too?(Not only black like the EDB's)

  • The head has the same color of the body in the SR series. You can take a closer look at them at Ibanez website.

  • BEAUTIFUL MUSIC

  • Very good...

  • hey are you using any effects?

  • Excelente hombre, sigue asi

  • Excellent. Very well done. You even got the reverb in there, too.

  • Very good performance, not very interesting music sadly. But still, credit for the nice playing.

  • good!! will make me cry!!! very beautiful , and good technique

  • hey did you learn this by ear or did u get the music for it? it was great by the way ... keep it up.

  • I got it mostly by ear.

I know that Vic has a book with many transcriptions, and this piece is in there.

As soon as I get that book, I'm going to complete the song :)

    Peace.
