I just made a compost tumbler and noticed that all it really did was roll it into a ball. So, I had some threaded 6" rods around and with 3 nuts and 4 washers each, I installed them dryer style as to make the compost "tumble". It worked very well!
I would like to know if anyone who has a joraform composter (or similar rotating composter) uses used coffee grounds instead of sawdust for the carbon addition? The coffee grounds I can get in Taipei from the cafes are dry and I really want to use this waste product as it is free and much easier to get than sawdust...
my septic lines out 10 feet from my garden..and i put all the kitchen waste in the bin...you should see my veggies..they get fed well lol dont ever need to water because of the septic haha...it works and its down hill so the 10 feet between the garden and lines filters the waste
I wish they would have had the Joraform 125/270 in the test program. IMO that's the best tumbler on the market right now, but it would have been nice to see how it stacks up against the others.
stymye, did you even watch this video before you made you comment. I don't hear any claims made other than these home compost units are going to be tested to see if they work. What the heck are you talking about?

well, this is the worst test I've ever seen . also the liquid runoff draining from the compost is not "compost tea". if you were to use that runoff as a foiliar spray it could under certain conditions kill your plants. for further info there are many sites online that explain compost teas and extracts in depth

I really learned alot from these videos.
I have a compost tumbler, but I won a geobin. :-) I'm looking forward to results in both.
I think however I'll get better temps out of the geobin.

Those are some nice looking compost tumblers. What are they made of?
