  • Who chooses a tele standard to play metal?

  • @steve1287 hahahahahaha damn right :P

  • @steve1287 The Slipknot guitarist.

  • @Justeatmytoast I said tele standard, the slipknot guitarist has emg pickups which is not a tele standard.

  • @steve1287 Oh, hey, I didn't notice that, you're right

  • I like the effect as I cant afford a 60s strat I am going to try this on my cheap guitar thamks for sharing take no notice of the people who dont like custom guitars

  • How about you actually use a guitar till it gets like that!

  • WTF is with the razor blade marks on there? It looks like shit

  • Drunk Falling down drunk Guitarist ... Geez Really i had a buddy who never used a case just tossed his guitar in the back of his car ... Looks like he used it

  • just throw it out of a building onto concrete a few times

  • Does anyone really like rust?

I assumed that it was one of those things like rotting flesh that just automatically link to bad in your mind.

  • I kinda like reliced guitars if done right (that one isn't). There's nothing worse than putting a ding in something perfect. Hate fake checking on poly guitars though and fretboard wear always looks fake. The rust is overdone too.

  • Yea too much hating. Personally myself, I cant stand really shiny new guitars. Ones like taylor 914's or a PRS custom 22. Guitars are instruments, tools and I like them to have the feeling of a worn pair of jeans. Doesnt mean I would go and do that ^ but I like worn, reliced, real antique or just plain ole used. I would hate to buy a wonderful 4k custom PRS or something and then be scared to take it out of the house.

  • The first guy has the same shirt as in "Two and a half man" !

  • fail

  • I'll never understand this fad, but man is it good for a laugh. :P

  • I have a 76 Les Paul copy with one big ding on the body, and some fretboard damage, and the logo inlay was partially damaged. And the pickups were rusted out so i replaced them. Thats all that happened in 35 years. He faked all of it in all of a week... shame.

  • 3:02 .... Did his drummer have blades on the side of his cymbals or something?? What kind of cymbals would do that much damage? None. This guy obviously can't think correctly.. He ruined a nice tele ):

  • It doesn't look old, it just looks like a piece of junk that's been beat to crap.

  • this would happen if the guitar had legs and jump in front of a train

  • I'm not one to trash a video but that guitar looks more beat the fuck up then like it's been worn naturally like a relic guitar should.. If you really wanna relic a guitar then maybe you should get an older guitar and just play it a lot so it comes naturally >.>

  • i can imagine a headbanging teenager doing this but not a grown man ffs.

  • @boleynali Im a headbanging teenager and this is fuckin stupid... i age my guitars by a long slow process of playing them, and havent been alive long enough to witness it before my own eyes...

  • And I thought mine was f*cked up badly, and I got it second hand too...No but really, it needs time so that you can truly call it your own, and it can reflect who you are. Otherwise it's just a guitar that was ignorantly trashed...

  • what a load of absolute bollocks.if you you cant age your guitar thru time and playing you shouldnt have one.talk about the i want it now age.

  • My dad has been playing guitar for over thirty years and has played a Fender Tele for at least 25 of those thirty. Long story short his Tele or any of his guitars for that matter do not look thrashed or "WORN" by any means.

  • I seriously do not understand the worn out guitar craze or if its even a craze. I guess this is part of the instant gratification culture we live in these days.

  • Just play the guitar and be careful with it, don't waste your time and ruin it.

  • 3:31 what is that on your finger?

  • @sounst bogey

  • When I was young everybody wanted a guitar that was knew and looked new. Today everybody wants an old guitar that looks used. Everyone here to barter my old used wife for a fresh girl? I have done all relicying already done to my wife. Andy

  • @OlafArisson you'd need to be 1.pissed (as in drunk) 2.pissed off (very annoyed) 3.stupid ( I run my finger across the hole if the lighting is not good before shoving it in ,and I don't mean anything sexual there before you start ,4.a crazy idiot who jabs and stabs and jabs without thinking,(a Psycho)

  • how to relic a guitar-

    1-buy it

    2- play it 40 years.

I have guitars older than 40 years and none of them have rust ,the odd knock or dings and dongs here and there but nothing like that poor old thing

  • Why are people against relic-ed guitars watching this video in the first place?

  • This is really disturbing to me. Fashionable guitar wear? This is awful imo. How about pre-worn skateboard decks, "relic'd" quarterpanels on cars from the dealer. Rust is really stylish I hear.

I care way less about appearance than I do about tone. The idea that this is what a 50+ year old guitar would look like is ridiculous. A 50+ year old guitar would be handled with respect and care.

Also, relic is a noun, not a verb. This is antiquing. Personally one of the worst mods possible.

  • that looks terrible and unnatural, it's like the person who had it threw it into a lake and left it there.

  • wow a video on how to scratch your guitar why dont you just throw it in the ocean its much more time efficient and you can do all your guitars in one day

  • "Now I've spent 3700 hours painting, sanding and buffing this guitar, I'm going to show you how to make it look like a gang of monkeys abused this guitar for 20 years. Good times!"

  • What a concept! Can't wait until it get to cars!

  • Comment removed

  • Respond to this video... Google "rat rod"

  • @Grvthang google search for rat look cars

  • how to relic...

    1. grab guitar.

2.smash it in to this guys head.

    3. bask in the glory for the fact you just hit this guy in the head with your guitar.

  • I'm really not sure I understand all the hating here... I'm not the biggest fan of a relic but maybe that's just someones style... maybe instead of liking your fav color which is "i'm a guitar snob yellow" they like something different, like a beat up look, and want that look of an older guitar, but don't want to pay the $4,000 price tag for a 76 strat you know? if we as a guitar family could spend more time helping and less hating... who knows what might happen...

  • I would NEVER in a million years possess a guitar that was in such a "beat-up" condition.

  • It doesnt look natural. I did a chinese les paul relic that looks natural but it took me months to perfect.

  • Usually relics look good, the back of that guitar looks dumb.

  • Are you fucking serious? This better be a fucking Satirical video because if isn't and people actually pay for this shit then your a great CON.

  • Sorry, you made it look like a piece of crap (my opinion). Unless it was well worn by a famous guitarist like Stevie Ray Vaughn it's worth has been diminished! I bought a used '77 Les Paul Standard back in '82 for $500 and was a bit disappointed that it had a blem on the front from getting bumping into something, minor belt rash, and some surface scrathes from picking, but I would never threat it carelessly to have it end up looking abused!

  • Holy crap, its Ron Jeremy at the start of the video...lol.

  • Isn't it odd that violins sell for £X00,000 and yet you don't see videos on relicing other stringed instruments, oh I know why, because its called 'fraud' and you can go to prison for it. :o)

  • Cool - Now Nitromors it, a few coats of paint a twelve coats of lacquer and it'll look great!

  • yeah thats such a bull shit thing to do.. im ruining my guitar by playing the shit out of it.. actually.. na this is actually quite a good video.. it looks really cool

  • yeah thats such a bull shit thing to do.. im ruining my guitar by playing the shit out of it..

  • Here's an idea, want a guitar that looks like it's been played for thirty years?. Buy one and play it for thirty years. None of your relic techniques look authentic!

  • This is fuckin' insane !!!!!! Like GOLDMINER63 said Play the damn thing and write your own story for each ding and wear mark based on truth, not like this total lie of a guitar. I guess it just goes along with todays mentality and inability to write your own story.....just steal one, make one up and live a lie.....nobody wants to work for anything, just gimme gimme now now........what a joke !!!!!!!!!!

  • Has nothing to do with "relic" this is ridiculous.

  • That's absolutely awful...You could have spent that time practicing, and making your guitar look seasoned for real... What an odd fad- pass

  • @panzarmetal just play with your heart and all your energy and then everything comes second :)

  • I'll take a new guitar every day over this rusted guitar.... Who pays fit this crap!!!

the brand should be called mad max guitars !!!

  • What guitar was it before rellicking?

  • how about give me the guitar and i'll give it back to you in 40 years. then you can sell it for ridiculous amounts of money.

  • Comment removed

  • OMG, why would you do that to a new guitar. Buy a new guitar, play it for 20 years at gigs etc. Then you'll have a story to tell for each of those dings, dents and scratches that you "naturally" put on your guitar.

  • that looks shit

  • wow the neck looks like someone used yellow marker on it

  • this looks like shit

  • There is something wrong with this name.

It should be called How to damage your guitar to look cool ¬___¬

  • none of you guys would relic his own face, so don't relic something much more important

  • Relicing is truly for idiots, produced my idiots. The same people who need a reliced guitar also need tattoos to look tough and need to cheat to get ahead with most everything else in life....

  • This is the dumbest fad I've ever witnessed.

  • @dorielementary You can thank Keith Richards for this, Fender were working with Richards on a signiture series of Guitars . Rang him up said its ready Keef . Richards saw what they had produced and said "my guitar dont look like that couldnt ya bash it up a bit !!" a new fad was born

  • There is nothing more beautiful than naturally aged guitar and nothing more ugly than faked relic-ed one.

  • How long i have to play my guitar to relic it, and what to wear, like a watch or a belt with a huge as buckle ?

  • Great.. a video about how to lie.

  • Here's a way to relic a guitar, just playing the guitar and rocking hard.

  • i personally dont like relics much, but it would have looked better if the two he worked on didn't have red and blue finishes imho.

im interested in removing some a little paint on my les paul jr that has a thin satin finish, hope this helps me out.

  • @jordandavis82

No, mate.. yer much entitled to your own opinion, your earlier remark was just uncalled for. Rock star, no - but I do play in a house band and a jam band, and yes- as a matter of fact I am a Reverend; ordained and everything. Nothing in the rulebook about not playing music.

  • @jordandavis82

lol...You actually thought that was an insult when you though it up, didn't you? You can go back to guitar hero and pretend to be a rock star and the rest of us will play the real thing.

  • WHY TO DO ALL THIS SHIT WHEN WE CAN SCRATCH THE GUITAR BY OUR SELVES ALONG THE TIME AND HAVE OUR OWN STORIES WITH IT, HUH???

    YOU ARE JUST STUPID FAGS!!!

  • I only have minor but noticeable damage on my Strat after 3 years but that's because I'm shitty at taking care of my stuff but it's not like I literally took a screwdriver or hammer and went to town on to make it look old. If you want your guitar to look old without actually taking the time, you're just a douche! You can tell from what he said at 3:02 that he has NEVER been in a band!

  • Comment removed

  • Also, who would want to do this to a guitar on purpose? Using tools and such to DESTROY your guitar isn't right... Now if you drop it on stage, that's fine. But this... This is wrong..

  • @DisgaeaDelinquint como on that`s fashionable. I thinking do it to my bass

  • So, I dropped my guitar a couple times, plays better for some reason, does this mean I made it a relic? I think so, and MY RELIC IS REAL.

  • I love aged guitars, but i dunno that I agree with this. Kinda like cheating; something a douchbag would hang on a wall to con some chick into his bed.. I love mt tele model, and all of its nicks and bangs are the real thing.

  • @jordandavis82 compared to what?

  • i can see doing it to a mexican strat or something, however on an lp, that would be nuts...pass on that shit...

  • How to "Piece of Krap" a guitar

  • how does a cigarette get any near a headstock??

  • @classsclownnn /watch?v=Cqh54rSzheg check the headstock of the bass guitar

  • @terceranoche ohh ok, thanks for that!

  • Animals. This guitar looks like somone tryed to drown it in the closet. Better show us how to relic its wood so it would produce celestial sound

  • first video i ever disliked.

  • Ron ?

  • Fake looking

  • getting too close to the drummer and the cymbals cut into the thing? how the hell would anyone manage that?!

  • way over done, i for one like to make my own dings with use

  • This relic is not realist !!! It's too much and we can see that is the hand of a man who has do that....

  • Normally I love relic guitars with a passion, but this relic job looks INSANELY cheesy. You can tell this guy doesn't know what he's doing, the fingerboard wear is the dead giveaway. Look at a Fender relic guitar's fretboard, then look at this, plus all the metal parts are too rusted, plus the tint on the neck is way too yellow, as opposed to an amber patina, plus, he used a freakin' MARKER on the bridge pickup. Come on, this is like a 99 cent store relic job

  • Why the hell would anyone do this to their guitar...

  • easy way to do it.... throw it out your window

  • i like relics but this is just UGLY D:

  • Guys, maybe people who do this don't want to cheat, maybe they just like the way it looks?

  • oh my god wear it in for yourself and you'll love it more and don't cheat like that. like for real? why do that?

  • how to relic a guitar for real.....play the shit out of it for 20 years or more...don't cheat...thats gay

  • @wsaussy1 not if you use circular picking....will never get "elbow wear".

  • With polyureathane, your finish can las FOREVER!!!

  • how to relic a guitar - drop it, dont take care of it, dont clean the neck ever - and there you'll soon get a relic :)

  • is that a guitar?????

  • to be honest its a work of art if you take your time on it :3

  • Nice job not only making a guitar look like shit, but absolutely ruining it. You'd need a tetanus shot after gigging with that 6- saddle rusted out, shit pile of a bridge... fail dude.

  • The body looks alright but the metallic hardware doesnt look reliced as much as it was just left out in the rain for a month.

  • just use it a everyday for 10 years to get fucked up wood and rust

  • how the fuck do u get to close to drummer symbols???

  • It looks like shit....

  • it's nice but a bit overdone.

  • has this guy ever seen an old guitar? a relic with a six saddle bridge..total crap job

  • has this guy ever seen an old guitar? total crap job

  • how to turn a 2000 dollar guitar into a novelty

  • Gayest thing u can ever do with your guitar is making it relic by yourself.

  • @PunkRockCovers How is that gay? Or are you just doing the immature "gay = stupid" thing.

  • I bet you it sounds like complete shit

  • this is not a how to video shame on you!!!!! its jsut showing what you do!!!! damit

  • just beat the shit out of your guitar when you play it. That or throw it down a flight of stairs a few times, put it on a bench and fire some flatheads at the body

  • Looks like shit. Nice ruin job. Want a relic? Either buy one or USE the guitar you have. There is nothing 'artistic' about fucking up an instrument.

  • That buckle rash looks more like buckle buckshot...

  • should have show the original guitar before all the work ! just too much done on one guitar, the process and outcome is nice but way too much done on 1 guitar. all that stuff could have gone a long way on 10 guitars :)

  • This guy must have been extremely clumsy !!

  • i love relic guitars. but this one was just RAPED by you idiots. razorblades on the fretboard? what the heck did you smoke?

this is definitly NO relic guitar. -.-'

  • The "man" in this video is actually a 13 year old boy. He relic-ed himself with some drugs and alcohol.

  • @thepricekingsdotcom His wife is a prostitute. You should see how she is relic-ing herself.

  • Fluf...? Sideswipe...? Oh come on -that's just silly!

  • FYI for those who want to relic a guitar try picking it up and playing the shit out of it. A relic guitar is earned from hours of dedication and passion for the instrument.

  • loooks like SHIT

  • I have an idea. Instead of relicing a guitar, go play the damn thing and put natural wear on it

  • How to relic a guitar in 3 easy steps! Step 1 dip in acid step 2 watch guitar boil in acid step 3 dunk your stupid head in acid

  • SQUIER IS TRUTH?

  • why would u want to do something like that to your guitar

  • after playing for 20 years, i can honestly say i have NEVER taken the jack and came at my jack plate with such force as to leave gouges in the body all the way down to the wood....even in my drunkest of days....

  • cmon that sucks man!

  • this old dude once gave me his brand new tele to play at an open mic night, as I was walking onto the stage I drove the headstock into a lighting rack... it wasn't the best moment. But now with this video I was actually doing him a favour.

  • in the first month of my new guitar. i got to close to cymbals and took a chunk out of it.............

  • I just do not understand why someone would want their guitar to look like it has been abused and beat to crap.

  • even a clumsy guitar player couldn't make their gutar look that bad after 50 years

  • wtf would you take a brand new guitar and fuck it up???????????????

  • Looks like it was owned by a spastic with an IQ of 25. Something a Jonas bro might do.

  • This is not really "how to". This is more of a presentnation of your result... Fine job though.

  • For over twenty years I've played Warmoth necks with no finish.

The neck to me, is the part that I'd consider ageing if needed.

That said, I've played some Bill Nash and MVG (Miami Vintage Guitars) that are outrageously good playing guitars.

I had (and still do) reservations about relicing a guitar. If you played it enough it would get there. But you know what, that dude with the reliced guitar will give himself away as soon as he starts to play if he doesn't practice.

I bust my ass do you?

  • Shut the fuck up and just play the damn thing. It's like paying $200 for a pair of designer jeans that have the wear marks and holes in them.

  • How to make the most realistic reliced guitar... play the crap out of the guitar

  • "Getting to close to the drummer and the cymbols cut into the thing" ha ha ha, you can tell this guy has never played in a band.

  • @lilicantdrive hahahahaha, ikr, this guy is retarded.

  • i have toys, as a kid, when i was 3, that were still in damn near mint condition.

you want to make your guitar look old and aged, do this. scratch the pick guard, and possibly ware some of the fretboard, that way it will look used, and not look like someone beat the shit out of it, but actually cared for it.

  • Natural my ass

  • Premeditated imitation battle scars = Pretentious Posing for douches !

  • @FrAnKiViTy douches HATE guitars

  • ugly.

  • ohh my ppl... this is for if you want to lets say make a SRV or David Gilmour or OLD remake of the guitar. Seriously... SRV beat the shit outta his guitar which would mean you would relic that guitar.. its not that hard to figure out. David gilmour bends his his notes alot... which wouldmean wear down on the neck..jeez get real guys ppl usually just dont do this for fun they do it for a REPLICA guitar.

  • this is for old men who only just started playing and want to tell their friends that they played with stones and shit back in the day.

  • @gokolink lol yes this video should be called how to fuck up a guitar

  • @gokolink lol you mad eme laugh

  • @gokolink lol you mad me laugh

  • @gokolink lmfao true

  • I would agree with most people here. You would have to be stupid to destroy a perfectly good guitar like that. Even if you weren't being carful and you played that guitar for 50 years, there is no way it would look like that.

  • The best way to relic a guitar is to lend it to your friend for a year.

  • Why would anyone do this? I just don't see the upside.

  • that thing was extreamly OVER reliced. why would you want rust on the chrome? the scratches look good but everything else makes it look like shit

  • What person in the right mind would purposely mangle his guitar? Sure, beat up guitars are cool, but I would rather a mint condition 54 Strat.

  • how to relic a house

  • he's just showing us how he beat the crap out of this guitar

  • Watching this makes me proud to actually own a Fender Mustang '64. At least the marks on mine actually tell a story...
