  • Love both

  • He's got a fantastic voice lol

  • finally a better word then "gay" thank you george.

  • GEORGE TAKEI IS GOD.

  • I miss Cenk Uygur on MSNBC :(

luckily hes back on TYT so i can get my daily dose of progressive views :L LOVE THIS INTERVIEW

  • I loved him in Heroes :)

  • lock up dem teacher!

  • LEGEND!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • His voice is awesome!

  • Cenk is soo happy when he interviews people from Star Trek.

  • His appearances on Stern are awesome.

"omg, you have such a beautiful cock!"

  • @Somai82 Musculature.

  • As a straight man, I can honestly say I'd go Takei for George/

  • I enjoy listening to the editorial comments from Cenk, and am against the bill as I understand it. But, give us a break with comments like The Bill would "punish the teachers with up to 30 days in jail -- which is absurd." What is absurd about including some means with which to enforce a law? Maybe a case could be made for 45 days incarceration. While we may agree that matching punishment should be 'None,' at least we should also agree that any law should have enforcement.

  • @mreynold1000

    you stupid dawg?

  • @erjoalgo Huh? "You stupid dawg?" Is that a question? Is it an insult? Is it a compliment? Is it English? Be clear about what you are writing if you are going to reply. I hope you are not trying to intone that I am stupid, for if you did, it was in a very illiterate manner. Please speak with clarity, dawg.

  • @mreynold1000

hahaha I am losing patience for retards like yourself whose opinions are damaging to society.

Yes, idiot, it is absurd to put someone in jail for using a government "censored" word. If your ignorant ass ever learns anything about history, you will find that it is in fact much worse than just absurd.

Jail itself is a primitive means of dealing with crime. It does not improve people, in fact it compromises the mental health of those entrapped in that barbaric justice system.

  • @erjoalgo

If you think jail is the way to go, you...

you are just a dumbass, I don't have time to convince you of how stupid you are.

The final note is that, Yes, it is patently absurd. And regarding your point about law enforcement, no, not all laws have to be enforced.

Especially if the law in question is heavily controversial, such as this one, it is enough of a victory for those republican clowns to get their law passed because that sends the message that "gay is wrong".

  • @erjoalgo

THAT IS ENOUGH OF A VICTORY FOR THOSE CLOWNS. THE LAST THING WE NEED IS TO PUT TEACHERS IN JAIL FOR SAYING SOMETHING THAT THOSE CLOWNS DON'T LIKE.

And, as George mentioned, it is these clowns' own insecurity about their sexuality/marriage/morality (or their retarded dogmas) that motivates their hate/intolerance. Now what do teachers have to do with this?

So yes. YES IT IS ABSURD to put anyone in JAIL over this.

I hope you get something out of this, otherwise go fuck yourself.

  • @erjoalgo You are truly without a clue, and have signs of schitzophrenia. You say "hahaha I am losing patience." You say "I just feel in my heart that marriage should be between a man and a woman," but then you add "I am not homophobic" -- I'm not saying you are, but to end it with 'at all' shows your motivation. Do you just vent whenever you can, even when inappropriate, with a gibberish that can't be understood? Now that that has been addressed... reread my original post.

  • @erjoalgo I didn't argue for jail-terms. I clearly stated that I AM AGAINST THE LEGISLATION. Wake up man! If you want to argue against what I did say, you would argue that Cink should continue to also give an inappropriately emotionally worded statement without any factual basis. As long as you are preaching the history tone, consider the similar words of GW Bush, for that doesn't even have to be mulled over too long, or did you forget even that too? Only reply with support for namecalling.

  • I wonder if the reason they want to ban the word gay in school is do to bulling, because I remember in school a lot of kids were called gay when they weren't.

  • @GoogleVideoMan I wish that were the reason, but sadly, it isn't.

  • Tekei? LOL I love this

  • @mistara31415 No problem, to be brutally honest the only reason I knew that was because I Wikipedia-ed (?) the name and got this info. :)

  • Capt Sulu is awesome. I'm Takei and proud

  • He is SO Takei!

  • YO! REPUBLICANS ARE SOME TAKEI ASS CORPORATE BITCHES! xD

  • Oh Takei, you've made my life so much better! X3 <3

  • I consider myself to be very liberal but for some reason I have a problem with gay marriage. It just doesn't sit well with me. Who knows, maybe I'm a dinosaur...

  • @NewYorkCityUSA7 But do you have a problem with Takei marriage? I would imagine not.

  • @NewYorkCityUSA7

What is your problem with it?

  • @erjoalgo I just feel in my heart that marriage should be between a man and a woman. I'm not homophobic at all and I'm all for some form of civil unions for gay people that gives them all the rights of married people, but I can't get past what may be "old fashioned" thinking, but that's just how I feel.

  • @NewYorkCityUSA7

Fair enough. Yeah, if there is a sort of legal status that gives gays ALL the rights of married couples, I don't see the big fuss about gay marriage. Gays should just wait until society is more open minded, meanwhile reap all the legal benefits of marriage.

To push for gay marriage just for the "title" seems like just too much right now.

  • @erjoalgo I don't think they should have to wait, no group of people who isn't being given something that the majority of people has isn't right, and telling them to just wait is kind of rude, would you tell an interracial couple that they should have just waited? no, if everyone just waited around, stuff wouldn't get done. You're looking at it as just a title, but it means so much more than that to the gay community.

  • @erjoalgo Also, this is the age of the internet, nothing is too much right now, change is constant, due to the easy access of information now adays it's easier to get people to accept/tolerate certain things.

  • Lol! <3 Takei!

  • When will the first explicitly Takei Pride Parade happen? I'd go!

  • Awesome interview Cenk!

  • George is simply outstanding,

  • lol

i think gay people r taking it too far call me crazy but aren't we suppose to bean open society for instnce in highschools they r these assemblies with gya people talking no offense i don;t give 2 shits about your gayness yet its wrong to not accept it they way i c it givethem the rightd but don;t tlk shit or force be to attend shit like thAT WHEN I CUD GIVE 2 FUKS ABOUT IT

  • @dojOdRiFTeR You were forced to a attend a gay pride parade?? What else have they forced you to do? Well anyway... I'm with you, any gay that forces his gayness on me is bang out of order. Just last week, I was minding my own business stroking this guy's leg, being straight, getting naked, and then BAM!!!... cock up my arse! It was almost like he thought I was GAY?!?! Fucking gays... bang out of order. Best bet is to ravage them before they can ravage you, give em a taste of their own medicine!

  • @dojOdRiFTeR I agree with you. I don't think you should be forced to go to any assemblies. You clearly need to spend all the time you can in the classroom learning English. Nothing should prevent you from focusing solely on trying to write a single correct sentence.

  • @dojOdRiFTeR Yet i bet you'd have no problem attending an assembly regarding the rights of black people or asians, lolz, also, learn how to speak English =D The point of any assembly like that are to try to teach students that people are who they are so don't discriminate them, like racism or sexism or discrimination against the disabled, it's the same thing (and a gay assembly? really? this sounds like cock and bull)

  • Mr. Sulu, I salute you!

  • @mistara31415 "The Naked Now" is from TNG, the origional with Takei was called "The Naked Time" :)

  • sulu FTW!!!

  • Oh myyy!!!

My love and respect for George Takei grow more and more each minute! *-*

  • Why is the volume so low?

  • Wonderful interview.

  • Takei should do voice-overs, he sounds like he could sell me a Pepsi

  • @mangaas he's done voice-overs for some animated shows

  • This feels like Takeiing the system to me.

  • @aaronsande Fuck. I meant "Takeiming" the system. Damnit, no points for me.

  • This law is straight out from Orwell's 1984.

Next law on the list: you can't say "freedom of speech" outside of designated areas.

  • Cenk must have been dying, wanting to talk about Star Trek.

  • 8 republicans are still in the closet.

  • This guys voice is awesome, he should have his voice be in an alarm clock to wake people up.

  • Not only would the bill have done all that but it would have been disastrous to the curriculum

Try teaching a high school english class without encountering some form of homosexuality

A Rose for Emily, Canturbury Tales, Frankenstein, etc. what are you going to take all those away?

  • ooohh mmyyyy!

  • Banning Speech under the threat of Imprisonment. Another example of the "Small Government" Party.

  • This is illogical.

  • I am sooooo Takei!

  • Thumbs up for the gays!

  • gay

  • His voice reminds me of Tay Zonday.

  • If I have to deal with this crazy chick of a wife....why cant they be just as miserable. Equal Rights for everyone! EpicBear for President ya'll....Peace!

  • george takei is awesome

  • Fucking christ... what is this the 1800's? Getting sick of all the hate. Mind your own fucking business and stop telling other people what they can and can't do. Its not your life, so your opinion doesn't matter.

  • I'm not gay,but I'm all for being Takei.

  • Thanks to that bill, every English teacher and professor who teaches Huck Finn will go to jail.

  • Cool, Cenk Speaking with Mr. Sulu!! Scotty, 2 to beam up!! Aye Captain!!

  • Comment removed

  • Lol... there is a takei (gay) ad next to the video.

  • Hellooooooooooooooo!

  • what a fucking homo

  • @zpythonz You hate gay people?

  • @GeneralHoohah How is anywhere in my post me bashing gays? Never did I say i hate them

  • @zpythonz How can "what a fucking homo" NOT be translated to "I'm a gay basher"?!?

    Oo

  • @GeneralHoohah maybe he meant "Homo sapiens" Which in latin means "wise or knowing man" according to wikithingy lol !!!

  • MSNBC is gay.

  • Love the voice.

  • this guy is tikay!!!!!

  • I grew up in Virginia... living in Tennessee right now for college. I am so working on getting the hell out of this state because of things like this. Where I live and work, Johnson City, being gay is fairly well accepted. I hope people don't think most people in TN are stupid because some decide to do shit like this. :)

  • There's actually a legal battler over whether teachers can say gay?

    Are we regressing societally?

  • @JCLeSinge Unfortunately yes we are... its due to the fact we elect republicans into office who want their agenda passed, nothing more nothing less. They aren't "christian" any more than an atheist (for the most part), they just use that to sucker citizens into voting for them.

  • As soon as people start minding their own fucking buisness the world will be a better place.

  • @groovyengineer Got that shit right!

  • 30 days in jail? That is so gay.

  • 30 days jail for saying a "gay"...

    ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME?!

  • Takei Secrets on Conan was the bomb. I never knew this nigga was gay until I saw a video on YouTube about him speaking out about it.

  • gay japanese man.

  • @dna1987 thanks, tourettes guy.

  • Tennessee must be SOOOOOO fuckn gay! They should secede from the USA and call themselves Tennessuck, with the slogan "Where gays come to fuck each other in the asshole"

Please - only hate e-mails from actual gays please. I'll hook you up with my gay friends, okay.

  • just met George at phx comicon nicest guy in the world!!! :)

  • He's 74?! Wow.. Takei FTW

  • @MrBorisbadanoff Says who? where does it even say that? That was you just pulling something out of your ass?

  • I love this man...and I cant believe he is 74!!!!!

    =)

  • Yes, cuz we all know that if you don't say "gay" then there will be no homosexuals.

  • what a bunch of Takeis!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • homophobes are people who aren't comfortable with their own sexuality.

  • I'll never understand homophobia. I've seen a few people I knew since kids who realized/came out later in life. Looking back, it became obvious that that's how they were born, it just didn't seem obvious when we were kids.

what do I care who they fool around with, date or marry? should we give gay people the right to tell straight people how to live?

Takei makes a LOT of good points here about the "family values" crowd.

  • George Takei, the greatest troll in histroy.

  • Takei was awesome as Sulu. My gaydar never registered a blip.

  • Takei? Cenk? IN ONE ROOM?!

  • There's a expression called, "If you love it, put a ring on it". How doesn't this apply to gays?

  • George's smooth voice makes me want to go Takei for him.

  • @TheCelticNinja that is sooo takei.

  • @TheCelticNinja 2 funny :)

  • Yeah , Star Trek was truly a progressive concept. First interracial kiss on TV and now this ... I am PROUD to be a trekkie.

  • Tennessee is a pile of shit.

  • I am old enough (40) to remember when being gay was still instinctively looked at as being wrong and I admit that I was one that used to think like it. I am happy to admit that since the 80's / 90's people like George have totally changed this outlook. Nowadays I honestly have no opinion on gays, no approval, no disapproval, just like I see everyone that is straight, I just do not see it as worth giving any attention to. I have George as a friend on FB and twitter and think he is a super star.

  • @dj2038 Thank you. I wish more people would ignore sexuality like that. Unless someone wants to date me or I want to date them it's not really their business.

  • Phazer's set to pwn

  • win

  • I love this so much. I've been watching this grow on Twitter and facebook... He's a wonderful person. I did notice that this video's description says "Mr. Zulu" but the character's name is Sulu with an S not a Z... Perhaps the poster will change that and the "MrZulu" tag as well. Thanks for posting though!

  • frictionRx9 is actually a liberal and is just playing devil's advocate to further strengthen the position that sexuality is irrelevant and opposers are bigots. He satirizes republican insecurities for our amusement. Slightly amusing trolling but not intelligent enough to pass as real. 6/10.

  • @WigglyMalmsteam I'm liberal, but everyone is insecure. This isn't a bi-partisan issue. In fact nothing is a a bi-partisan issue. Democrats have spoken against gay marriage too. I'm a little confused as how the person you're speaking of is "actually a liberal" just because they are trying to troll. I don't think trolling is effective activism...

  • George Takei rocks. You don't have to be a Trekkie to be a fan of Takei rights!

  • homophobia is so takei

  • Does anybody know what the tension between George Takei and William Shatner is about? I heard they don't get along very well. George seems to be so friendly, how could you not like him?

  • @RottenRroses I haven't heard about it, but honestly their relationship is no one's business but theirs. Which is similar to this interview, really... Mind your own relationships type of deal. That's not an attack, just a thought...

  • @NyanBoi If they have their differences in the public it is of course open for the public to discuss. No one is getting through their private mail or tapping their phones.

  • @RottenRroses Uh... I disagree, unless it's a safety issue, let them work it out. The only reason it would be "public" is because they are both famous and they worked together (drama). You're asking what it's about, but if they made that part public you would know. If they don't tell us, it's not public. This isn't a video about gossip anyways.

  • @NyanBoi What do you think I want to know? I don't want any "secret" information obtained by wiretapping. Of course I want to know if there is public information about the issue because they vocalized their disagreements publically. They are both public figures, what they make public is open for the public to discuss.

I was asking if somebody else knows more about this topic than I do. Do you know everything that was ever made public? Certainly not.

  • @RottenRroses Settle down... I already said I don't care to know. Try Google instead an off-topic comment. I'm sure tabloid sites are eating it up...

  • @NyanBoi And you certainly don't have to know. You see, my question was if anybody knows more about this topic not who does not care to know. If the media wasn't able to discuss celebrities and their personal matters a large part of it would already be out of business.

They are celebrities and role models to many with a strong influence on the general population and therefore their lives are naturally much more interesting to a lot more people than the lives of ordinary people.

  • @RottenRroses They are ordinary people. Don't put them on a pedestal like that! I know that's what society thinks that doesn't mean you have to agree. So don't say these things like they are "facts" they just the opinions the general public. If you disagree with me, fine. This is the Internet so if you don't want a response that you don't like, you probably shouldn't ask here.

  • @NyanBoi But they aren't ordinary people like everybody else, they are famous. They are public persons, their job is interacting with the public through the media. They interact with the society and the society talks about them. That is how they earn their money. You contradict yourself. They are not ordinary people, precisely because society holds them to a higher standard. If they speak publically their words carry a lot of weight. Their opinion matters a lot more than yours or mine.

  • @RottenRroses That depends on who we are talking about it matter to. I value people whom I love and trust's opinions WAY over some "famous" person. They are the same, only known more. I'm sad that you think otherwise. What a sad way to live...

  • @NyanBoi No it does not depend on what you or me as individuals think of their opinions, it depends on what society as a whole thinks about them, how many people they can reach with their words. You may deny it as long as you like, famous people are heared and they have a lot of influence. Whether it's Snooki or Hitchens, people listen.

It's "sad" that you don't get it through your thick skull, that fame leads to a position of influence. And it is "sad" that you must resort to ad hominems.

  • @RottenRroses Influence is not what you said. You said their opinions are more important. Influence just means more people hear them, so (yes) more people listen. That does not make them more important. I would never value some famous person over someone who care about me. Even if "society" tells me I should. That's shallow and (-le gasp!-) very sad if people would. It's also SAD that you're resorting to insults. "Thick skull"? I suppose that could mean I am more protected against brain damage.

  • @NyanBoi To the insult, I just reply likewise. I don't have to take your abuse with smiling grace.

But of course are opinions more important if they are more important to more people. You can have the best opinion, the best arguments and the best concepts but none of that matters if nobody cares, if nobody takes you seriously.

On the other hand if a lot of people take you seriously even though what you say is largely rubbish, your opinion is still more important to the society, e.g. Palin.

  • @RottenRroses I didn't insult you, I felt badly that you think this way. Perhaps we are defining "important" differently. I will leave it at that because you are still saying the same thing. You also must define "nobody" differently. Well, I can't change the way you use words. I will cease commenting even if you reply because you seem to feel that I am abusing you. I am sorry if I hurt you somehow...

  • @NyanBoi importance:

    1. significance

    2. social status; standing; esteem

How sad you feel that way, you obviously just can't grasp what I say. I feel bad for you.

I gladly repeat myself to help you understand. Someone who has a lot of influence is important, someone who doesn't have influence is unimportant. No matter how you judge his actions, if he has a lot of influence he is an important person.

I really pity you that you can't understand these simple concepts, I honestly feel for you.

  • @RottenRroses Sadly the person who you posted this for is probably too much of a troll to take it to heart :( but valliant said good sir! or maddam

  • god its hard to dislike takei

  • fake and Takei

  • Now I really want to watch the original Star Trek series again.

  • @RottenRroses Star Trek is so takei.

  • OHHH MYYYY

  • this guy is awesome

  • Anyway straight is the new gay these days, like my little nephew said this about about marriage recently, "Ugh, Marrige, thats like, sooo gay".

  • @TomEire1 You need to correct him..........Marriage is soooooooooooooooo Takei!

  • The american theocracy is in full momentum. Christian (i.e. sharia) law will soon be throughout the states.

  • Takei's voice = the bomb. He should be a narrator or some for movies :)

  • Didn't know that Star Trek guy was gay, could have guessed it though, XD

  • I think their heart is in the right place, but it's not actually going to help anything. You don't prevent kids from becoming prostitutes or drug addicts by just pretending sex and drugs don't exist. We need to teach kids about the dangers of stuff like prostitution and drug addiction, not just shove it under the rug, and the same goes for homosexuality.

  • @ZKoftherebellion Dangers?

  • Still has that signature Sulu voice.

    Takei FTW.

  • you can't legislate morality

there is no commandment against homosexuality

  • Okay, that settles it. He is *officially* "The Gay".

  • Anyone that doesn't like this interview is so Takei.

  • 3 people are afraid of "The Gay".

  • Cenk, don't interrupt your guest. Pay attention to what they're saying.

  • @PrairiePie23 I always cringe when Cenk doesn't let his guests talk. Sometimes I wonder why he even has guests on....Cenk wants to talk too much.

  • lolz ima find me 1 of these gays and ima call him names and bully him and beat him up

    set phasers on gay

    OHHHH MYYYYYY!

  • @frictionRx9. "lolz ima find me 1 of these gays and ima call him names and bully him and beat him up." When you do this why don't you take a friend of yours with you so they can tape it and post it on youtube so you can show the rest of us dummies and whimps how much of a genius and man you are?

  • I never knew HOW gay Takei was... I love it :)

  • He's great. Now it's time to see if those creative people in Nashville have anything to say about this.

  • Everyone's Takei for Takei.

  • homophobia is gay

  • Oh my god. Cenk spoke to Mr. Sulu.

  • George is such a GREAT guy! That is such a witty idea.

  • It's OK to be Takei!!!!! Yes!!!!

  • Focus on the Family should stop worrying about Gay marriage and start worrying about heterosexual marriage!

  • The man is a national treasure.
