Teacher "X" teaches 5 classes. He teaches 3 Algebra classes, 1 Advanced Algebra class, and 1 remedial class. His first four classes are okay, but his last class is utter chaos!
Why?
Is it because the class has 43 students instead of 35?
Or maybe because the majority of the students don't speak English?
Could it be that it's late in the day and the kids are tired?
Or maybe, just maybe, the kids are DOWN-RIGHT LAZY?
Stop blaming the hard-working, dedicated teachers!
The kids that talk loud and laugh during the movie! The ones that throw popcorn at the screen! The ones that run up and down the movie aisles. The ones that keep getting up to go to the bathroom! Those kids!
Do you think those kids could sit down for a 45 minute Math Lesson?
They can't sit still during a movie! You think they are going to pay attention to their math teacher?
So, who do we blame? The teacher? The administrators? The parents? Or the kids?
@MsJanetWood You should really learn to cherish diversity more. Of course it is not the parents or students fault, they are victims. Why, if the teacher was good enough that spoiled brat student would learn via osmosis. Parents do not need to instill in their kids a love of learning....or a sense of discipline, manners...etc, etc, it is all the teachers duty and fault.
@MsJanetWood No, I am serious. This country has a syndrome.....a phonyness syndrome. I bet that the majority of teachers do an adequate job, lots do really good work. But the trend now is to palce blame on the teachers for the shortcomings of lazy students and parents. No wonder this country is getting nowhere. More and more dumb students to come.
I would like to inform you of a job opening at McGavock High School in Nashville Tennessee.
An Algebra teacher, Mr.Donald Wood recently was let go . . . Perhaps, this is your opportunity to prove that you are just not an arm-chair quarterback. I want to see you do it! 3 months! That is all!
Hey, if you think you're qualified to evaluate teachers, then, you should be able to teach, right?
She runs the schools like a business. Not a bad idea, mind you, but unfortunately when dealing with a urban area where for many of the residents government employment is their only salvation, that sort of governance may prove contentious.
I don't knock teachers, they have their hands full, but like many government workers who feel that their jobs are relatively secure, some do not make any extra effort to go above & beyond the call of duty & will only put in the most basic effort.
I bet all of those Urban Americans are mad, they had to bring in a Korean to fix the mess they have made. Maybe, just maybe the schools will see some improvement......NAH, not any real improvement.
Teachers need to start working for money. Its funny how these union members dont have to live in the shitty underclass that their lazy public school systems create. Teachers need to be held accountable for the students success in school. Lazy Pricks!
Teachers don't start out effective. Its a learning process. It cant be addressed by a scorched earth clean out. Adults like children achieve when they are part of a learning community, one not based on fear or greed. Parker and Rhee have so little to do with what goes on in the classroom. Teachers need to step up and partner with their colleagues and principles and parents to show the mayor and the media that we don't need these bullies and bosses riding us to do the right thing.
Even the medical establishment realizes that new doctors need to do a residency as part of their education. I'm not saying to not use research validated best practices but isn't it common sense that you learn with experience? I've never met any one out of college or trade school that knows and the tips and trick -- its the apprenticeship model . Scores seem to be going up in DC, I hope that translates into something meaningful.
Hell No! A child does well according to their parents and according to what the child is rigged for. No one can make a child learn and if the child does well only the child get the credit.
eliminate the fat lazy cunts in the DC school system and everything will improve

Seniority... tenure.... is the base to maintain teachers? Or should it be quality.... being senior does not imply good quality.

So you're arguing for on the job trainging? You think our children should be learning tools for teacher's who aren't qualified or competent?
