Babbitt writes wonderfully for the piano and this is one of my favourites. The score looks so unenticing nut springs to life when played with expertise, as is the case here.
I'm not his biggest fan - but this is a great piece - fresh, simple and direct, unpretentious. It belies his austere - distancing - position on the relationship between composer of "contemporary" music and the listening public. Thanks for posting!
