Hey I just bought a new 3TB western digital Elements hardrive, and when I hook it up to my Asus Oplay it comes up with this message: " Device not supported" Does anyone know why this is and if this can be fixed. do you have to update my asus oplay. I bought this 1.5 years ago. Is it out of date or is western digital HD Drive not compatible?
@MrBestard Thank you for your reply. Yes, I have found several resources regarding this issue. I really hope ASUS will continue Firmware updating, since I do not see any fixed time frames between their previous releases.
By the way, I have found out that the player does not support divx/xvid with DMC (or GMC, I am not sure) compression. I have a single file only, so I do not bother much about this :)
I have heard about alternative firmwares from 3rd parties. But, I prefer to not install them :)
this is for Windows "dummies" who don't now how to use LINUX, and download all the right gstreamer "goodies/badies" -'cause if you did, you wouldn't need this linux "puppy" folks.
1./ So, uhmm, where is the "DIVX" Certifications for this !!?? mediaplayer ?
2./ -where's the small built in display, with id3/filename tags to view and "remoetly" click through all my selections be they audio or video. ----------------
One more thing, can it bookmark your video for future viewing like the MediaGate does? If I am watching a DVD, can I go to the dvd menu? I don't see that on the remote.
Would appreciate if you could review more about the video and it's wireless streaming capability. Would it be able to stream MKV over WIFI smoothly etc.?
Did anyone noticed the remote delay xDDDD, that's a review I've been reading in a lot of tech sites, I want this, but I don't know if I can stand that delay, I'll end up throwing the remote at the wall or something
@HonorKilling I'll go you one better. Apple TV blows period, irregardless of the format issues. Even Apple is calling it a failure. I love it when the fan boys come trolling in after they get Apple spooooo all over their face. Guess what boys. Steve Job's came in your ass, and you're too stupid to know you've been raped.
obviously if you already have an htpc then this serves no purpose. but this is also much cheaper than an htpc. for those that don't have one, and only need a simple media player for their tv, then this would be a decent choice. duh.
@Insanity7020 are you a nut tard? its not a computer thats the fucking point idiot. it plays everything out of the box. plug it in a go. you dont need and OS, 200 codecs, a compatible media player. Somehow everyone seems to have missed what this is. ITS NOT A PC.
the only thing that's making me consider buying the WD HD Live over this is the cleaner menus. Why doesn't ASUS revamp the layout and make it more appealing?

E.g. they implement torrent clients, or youtube video browsers. However, all I need is a file where I can add custom URLs to video using Telnet.

For those retards comparing this to Apple TV.
1. its $119.00 not $200+
2. it plays EVERY file format known to man
at this point. Apple TV blows if its not some BS apple format. This handle .mkv. avi. .iso etc etc...
3. its wireless so it can stream content from your networked drives.
4. perfect for playing anything anywhere in your home no need to create a HTPC for $500 plus only to struggle with codec for the next 5 years
5. its NOT an apple... best reason to buy it.
