There's Matt Freeman from Rancid, and he's beast, unlike Mike Dirnt, he hasn't stopped showing his bass skills even on their latest albums. All the most memorable lyrics/melodies are the simpler ones, and (like it or not) a simple/catchy/well-thought-out rhythm is eons more memorable than a jumbled up distortion of minor scales and barre chords. Takes just as much time (if not more time) to be creative than to get a bunch of scales and mash em together.

While Billie* does not create major legendary licks on the guitar, he does create a sound which suits the style he is trying to incorporate. If you are saying he is a poor lyricist, then you strike me as someone who has never taken the time to listen to the band prior to the albums you don't like. I too hate the modern Green Day fans but I can at least recognise their musical talent. Your arguments are all weak..I also struggle to think of a single e.g where Mike simply plays roots on the bass..

Oh yeah, and fuck. Mike Dirnt, the bassist, has fucking God fingers on the bass. I'm not suggest any songs. Basically, all of their 90s stuff has crazy drumming and hard-to-nail basslines on them. Again, I'm not gonna suggest any songs. If you were old enough to listen to them in the 80s and 90s, you'd know their musical talent which they don't use much nowadays. Mike Dirnt can play well. If the only 'bass solo' this metalhead ever listened to was that fucking 'Holiday' bass solo, that's just lame. Bassists from Gilman's are great. There's Matt Freeman from Rancid, and he's beast, unlike Mike Dirnt, he hasn't stopped showing his bass skills even on their latest albums. For some reason, Green Day's bassist went from really talented to the basic zero skill. It's not the most complicated instrument in the world, but Mike is good at it.

I'm not even a Green Day fan and I still say your shit's way off. All the most memorable lyrics/melodies are the simpler ones, and (like it or not) a simple/catchy/well-thought-out rhythm is eons more memorable than a jumbled up distortion of minor scales and barre chords. A lot of metal bands overdo that shit and become what is (in my oppinion) one of the worst cliches in music history. Takes just as much time (if not more time) to be creative than to get a bunch of scales and mash em together.

Metallica are music gods, unbelievable talent, they revoltionized the music industry. Every single green day fan that insults Metallica does not know anything but maybe Enter Sandman or a couple other songs, so they ignorantly bash probably the most influential band on any band in the music industry today.

Why would any human purposely go through all of this effort in an attempt to punish Green Day with meaningless insults, and bagging on them for just doing music, which is not all the same? Okay, now out of all the comments I've seen that's where I gotta respond. Your style of music is not law, you do not say what sucks and what does not. You can, but your opinion is none the less only your opinion. I like absolutely ALL genres. And SOME Greenday songs, alot of Metal songs, Rap, Hip-Hop, and some country. Like only 3, or 4. But 'sertaneja' and 'forro' is like the country of MY country. Which is at least better in my opinion, to the United States' country music.
