I remember hearing this song when I was in primary school and it giving me goosebumps and tingly feelings, and to this day, it is one of my favourite songs and I still get tingles. Fuck I love this song.

I am not particularly a H&C fan, but They put on one of the best live performances I have ever seen In a little pub in Tauranga New Zealand. They were astoundingly good. Very loud, but perfect sound. One of my favourite concerts ever.

I don't know if Neil ever said that. He did do a cover version of it, which I think added more a touch more sensitivity than any version Mark Seymour has ever done. Don't get me wrong, I like Mark's works, but H&C never gave the song the justice it deserves.  Mark should sit back and be proud to be the composer of the tune - not the performer of it.

I'm inclined to agree... I blame the producer, really... it was the 80s :/

but the song is definitely a classic. in my little corner of Finland love this song when I sing it (they've not heard the H&C or DAAS or NF versions...

Fab and great quality. I first saw this with Neil Finn (and possibly Tim?) on an MTV US thing with a guy with curly hair. Mid 80s. Had it on vhs and wish I hadn't binned it. Can't remember the MTV guy's name but it was a solid version.

It was Neil Finn with Eddie Vedder of Pearl Jam - MTV unplugged. Crowded House covered this regularly on their live tours and of course Nick Seymour is Mark's brother. No Finns were ever in Hunnas though.

"Throw Your Arms Around Me" is my all time favourite.  Best played raw like this version.

Thank you for finding this and putting it online. I played this song over and over at a college station in St. Louis MO USA and have been missing it for at least a decade or so...haven't had the extra money to buy a copy of "Human Frailty" - so at least I can watch it and hear it here!

Knew it.. There _was_ an earlier version than this, on the Way to Go Out album. It's gruntier, and only has the first verse repeated. The second verse is far more sentimental and always felt tacked on for commercial benefit. Did they ever do a vid for it though?

this version which was on "human frailty" in 1986

the later re-recorded version on "collected works" 1991
