They're doing American Eagle backwards from now til Sept. 17th at Six Flags Great America. I rode the blue car backwards yesterday. (And maybe it's me, but I always think the blue one beats the red one when you race them.)

I honestly perfer Wooden Coaster over Steel Coaster. Sure with Steelies you can do loops and greater speeds, but nothing beats the bone jarring action of wodden coasters. Don't get me wrong, I ride steel coasters, but there's something about the nostaligic feeling of wooden coasters.

I remember about 4 years ago when me my mom and my aunts got on this backwards and we got stuck for like 10 min. and when we finaly got off everyone we saw my mom would yell "WE JUST GOT STUCK DONT GET ON!!!" lol it was halarious
if you havent noticed when u go to six flags and ride this ride over 5 times u will see that blue NEVER wins!!!! its always red and thats why i only go on the red train also the blue train takes longer because its track goes higher than the reds track and the reds track is faster but <3 this ride!!!!!!

I've been on everything at SFGA and I still find this the scariest. It feels like a rickety old contraption that might fall apart any second. It feels like the cars are always about to jump the tracks and you just stood in the line where you have a chance to take a good long look at the rusty nuts and bolts holding this old wooden gray mare together. I always think it will collapse from age and decay while I'm on it xD

I used to work at Six Flags and you know what, the wood on the eagle is in better shape than it looks. They put alot of money of making sure that things like wood breaking off dosen't happen. Amusement Parks are all about money, and they aint trynna lose none.
This is a rough ride. I dont know if they still do backwards on this ride. The speed is pretty good and those bumps are fun too. Too bad it takes alot of space and its wood so it wont be there for very long.

There are differences between the two coasters. The blue one is faster (Chain and all) at the beginning and the red one is faster towards the end (After the curved bank)
Yeah! I think it's like that with all roller coasters videos though...Like, I was watching a video of Vertical Velocity (and that ride is fast as HELL!!)...and on the video, it looked kind of lame. But in real life, it's the exact opposite!

Great America in Gurnee sucks! They hardly ever get new rides anymore. I heard their getting a coaster from a Six Flags that closed in Kentucky. The name of that ride is Chung. It's been sitting in storage. Why can't Great America rides like Top Thrill Dragster or Millenium Force? Instead, they keep crap coasters like The Demon, The Whizzer & Iron Wolf. The only good rides at Great america are Raging Bull, Viper, American Eagle, Batman, Vertical Velocity, Giant Drop & Fiddler's Fling!

I always went on the one on the left for some reason. Call me superstitous. Once in '99, I picked a little hard berry off a tree while I was in line and let go of it on the first drop (which looks so quick and tiny on video). It floated around in front of me for a few seconds like a scene out of Apollo 13. My friend and I didn't expect that to work at all and we pretty much laughed the entire rest of the ride.

Wood may be not as structurally as sound as steel, but that's why wooden coasters are engineered to experience less stress than steel coasters. Both are equally as safe as each other. And this one was (relatively) recently built - the early 1980's. The world's oldest coaster was built in 1902, and that's still running very safe. Oh, wooden coasters are still being built. (The newest one opened in China last August.) But they're not built as often as steel coasters.
Fright Fest sucked this year! They did not have any scary music playing in the background and there was no one that were dressed up walking around. Not to sure it was because they are hurting or what, I was just disappointed for this years Fright Fest. Maybe it will be better next year. Lets hope!

Great America in Gurnee sucks! They hardly ever get new rides anymore. I heard their getting a coaster from a Six Flags that closed in Kentucky. The name of that ride is Chung. It's been sitting in storage. Why can't Great America rides like Top Thrill Dragster or Millenium Force? Instead, they keep crap coasters like The Demon, The Whizzer & Iron Wolf. The only good rides at Great america are Raging Bull, Viper, American Eagle, Batman, Vertical Velocity, Giant Drop & Fiddler's Fling!

I always went on the one on the left for some reason. Call me superstitous. Once in '99, I picked a little hard berry off a tree while I was in line and let go of it on the first drop (which looks so quick and tiny on video). It floated around in front of me for a few seconds like a scene out of Apollo 13. My friend and I didn't expect that to work at all and we pretty much laughed the entire rest of the ride.

Wood may be not as structurally as sound as steel, but that's why wooden coasters are engineered to experience less stress than steel coasters. Both are equally as safe as each other. And this one was (relatively) recently built - the early 1980's. The world's oldest coaster was built in 1902, and that's still running very safe. Oh, wooden coasters are still being built. (The newest one opened in China last August.) But they're not built as often as steel coasters.

Fright Fest sucked this year! They did not have any scary music playing in the background and there was no one that were dressed up walking around. Not to sure it was because they are hurting or what, I was just disappointed for this years Fright Fest. Maybe it will be better next year. Lets hope!
