I live in the United States as well, and so I speak Lithuanian with an accent. On my visits to Lithuania, I was told my accent was sexy. I was often asked where I picked it up. Among the guesses were the USA, South Africa, England, and sadly, Siberia.

In the United States, English spoken with an accent is also generally regarded as sexy.

Wow, unless I were immersed in this language I'd never pick it up! The structure seems so different from English. But it's still a beautiful language, just like the music! I guess you have to learn this best as a young child.

My father and grandparents were Latvian. I am currently teaching myself but I am having trouble knowing when to have the v sound like a v (example : Vai tev ir berni?) and when to have the v sound like a u (example: Ne, man nav bernu). I'm sorry I don't have the diacritical marks my computer does not have them. If any native speakers could give me a tip on when to pronounce the v either way, that would be great. Paldies!

I notice there is an accent under some of the "n", how would you pronounce them differently than the regular n? My audio on my computer isn't too great

Dunno if someone already told you, but the n with the mark underneath you pronounce like spanish "ñ". I hope it helps!
