Some people hate the smell and taste.sometimes they can have a numbing effect on your tounge which can suppress your appetite. thats why clove cigarettes are quite popular in indo. other than that it does not do anything else a normal cigarette will do. other than crackle when it burns.

Thanks for posting this. I don't smoke, but really enjoy a clove cigarette every now and then - they're heavenly. I just found out they were just banned and I am very miffed. Yeah yeah - don't fix the infrastructure, or stop the war, but ban clove cigarettes; what a great government I help pay for! They actually are legally classified as cigars, which is how they get around the ban (the law specifically bans flavored *cigarettes*, cigars are not mentioned).
The difference is that clove cigarettes are wrapped in paper like any other cigarette. The "filtered clove cigars" are wrapped in tobacco leaf so they can continue to be sold in the U.S. as cigars.
They taste a bit different, they're a bit thicker, they burn slower, and they come 12 to a pack.
The Blacks from Indonesia aren't poor quality though. The taste and burn is by far superior. They may be more unhealthy but they are a much higher grade product.
I guess I'll order some then. I did hear from other sources that the import was inferior, but I'll give them a try. What site do you use? They always seem cheap, but I always figured shipping would be a bitch.

Also I do not smoke marijuana (anymore) because it is illegal and because of my future career choice(main reason), but if it was legal i would definitely choose marijuana over tobacco and alcohol.

I visited my tobacco shop yesterday to buy some cigars and found out that the ban had taken affect. I learned that this included flavored rolling paper.
Some places don't really care about the ban. I just bought 6 packs of Djarums at my local smoke shop and said that they will have a carton in on Monday if I wanted :^) . And they had a cheap roller available - not as nice as yours.

granted yes cloves taste sooo much better but they are 100 times worse for you due to the cloves. thats the main reason they banned Djarum clove cigarettes.

Not quite.
The FDA banned the sale of *any* flavored cigarette (including clove) because they are seen as overly attractive to minors, and because they are thought to be "stepping stones" or "trainer cigarettes" to get children hooked on nicotine at a young age.
Menthol is the only flavoring specifically exempted.

you can still buy Djarum Blacks. They are delicious. The are now called: Filtered Clove Cigars... but they are the same exact thing.

I'm in Spokane, WA they are 8.00 a pack here! Too bad you only get 12 a pack but I don't smoke like I used to, it'll take me forever to go through a pack...I enjoy a good clove cigarette socially or when I really need one! LOL They were 5.00 a pack when I used to live in CA but those were the good old days when clove cigs were a plenty.....lol

They're not exactly the same thing.
They actually are legally classified as cigars, which is how they get around the ban (the law specifically bans flavored *cigarettes*, cigars are not mentioned).
The difference is that clove cigarettes are wrapped in paper like any other cigarette. The "filtered clove cigars" are wrapped in tobacco leaf so they can continue to be sold in the U.S. as cigars.
They taste a bit different, they're a bit thicker, they burn slower, and they come 12 to a pack.

I imported some Djarum blacks from Indonesia a few weeks ago after trying the clove cigars that are now legal.
They taste nothing alike. The cigars are bitter in comparion.

The Blacks from Indonesia aren't poor quality though. The taste and burn is by far superior. They may be more unhealthy but they are a much higher grade product.

I know u guys probably had heard about the bombings in there, but it is actually quite safe over there, not much rules, beers are obviously cheaper there probably about $2 american dollars for a big bottle, cigarettes price 1 pack of American marlboro = 1 carton of Indonesian Marlboro, kreteks are everywhere, could get that at the same price, even cheaper, and u can buy them each if u want..(less than 10c for a cig) beautiful beach, girls, waves. Hey i got a question, seriously, not to offend anyone or any of you smokers, i agree that everyone should have there own lifes and do what they want.. but what is the point of smoking, ive smoked before and i didnt like the taste, In my own opinion i think its pointless. Weed on the other hand has many purposes, I would love to see marijuana legalized and more people using marijuana than harmful ciggarettes. If you dont agree with me, its ok, to each his own.

I completely agree with you on this subject. Except the taste, i love the taste a nice cigar every once in a while. Also I do not smoke marijuana (anymore) because it is illegal and because of my future career choice(main reason), but if it was legal i would definitely choose marijuana over tobacco and alcohol.

@JayCeeTheRasta well there is a relaxing n totally different stimulation that tobacco gives you, marijuana is stronger n different in a good way(u get high) but some poeple do enjoy a good cigarette for taste n short term effects. others unfortunately do it to manage their pains from withdrawal or addiction. marijuana should definitley be legalized though

@JayCeeTheRasta Where you didn't like the taste, I do. Unfortunately, I don't enjoy the taste of regular cigarettes,just cloves. The ban on cloves has caused me to quit smoking. Of course, when I was 13 and started smoking, I smoked marlboro reds, aka "Cowboy Killers". It's not just about the taste, though. It's about the sensation of smoke hitting the back of your throat. About a slight dizziness, and the essence of euphoria. About settling my nerves. Not to mention it's a social item as well

it's not the kids. i mean seriously what kid actually likes clove cigarettes. the reason the FDA banned cloves is because the FDA and the BIG TOBBACO (ie: marlboro) are working together to amke a monopoly. FDA is getting alot of money from these companies. they're trying to do the same thing to my beloved e-cigs (which by the way is saving my life and wallet.) don't blame it on the kids, blame it on FDA.

I cook the cloves in some water, dip my cigs in them, then bake them for a clove flavor so I dont have to have the actual clove in them.
Then I dillute sucrose, and mist them to give them that sweet taste.

I bought mine at my local smoke shop. Just check yours out, they may have one.
I visited my tobacco shop yesterday to buy some cigars and found out that the ban had taken affect. I learned that this included flavored rolling paper.

Some places don't really care about the ban. I just bought 6 packs of Djarums at my local smoke shop and said that they will have a carton in on Monday if I wanted :^) . And they had a cheap roller available - not as nice as yours.
