  • @truthseeker0183

If they didn't disinter, the graves would be under 130 feet of water and families wouldn't be able to visit.

  • So did you just dive it at night? And maybe use a light with a wider beam next time.

  • @gillettecrackers

That was a day time dive. Used standard underwater dive lights.

  • that hand dont look real at all dude a hundred year old hand would been thin bones only that looked like full on fresh meat or something that was not right. maybe divers put the torso on top of grave marker, maybe, but the hand was fake as hell hands down. i have footage of a haunted infant only grave yard near my home i have crazy videos of it but dont know how to upload vidz yet. maybe soon ill play with it but i have footage of creepeiest infant only grave yard ever people attacked there

  • a body on top of the stone and a hand popped out of the ground ewwwww.....

  • thats amazing

  • I live about a mile or so from the lake. I remember my grandpa telling me stories about jocassee before and after it turned into a lake. There's been alot a history in those waters. I wish I could have seen it before it was a lake. Oh yea, that cemetery is bad ass. Hope you enjoyed your stay in our neck of the woods lol.

  • What happen? that was scary..but intereasting..thank u

  • so fucking sad

  • @Greenhornet270

    Sad? Weird reaction.

  • I have been to lake joecasse really its 150kms deep i think and 300ft deep it used to be a town but they needed electiricy (i dont care how you spell it) but now you can enjoy the beautiful lake now

  • ha ha the hand..thats funny, you had me there for a minute

  • bull shit lol

  • this is so weird

  • I wasn't going to touch it to find out...

  • at 0:53 is that a real skeleton

  • One of the reasons I'm deathly afraid of water.

Okay, this sounds really stupid, but have any of you guys ever been scared of something yet totally intrigued by it? o.O

  • @JessieeBessiee

When you learn to SCUBA dive, you learn about all the things that can go wrong, and what to do should that happen. You learn how to interact with the marine life so you don't threaten each other. You start diving in baby steps and build upon the experiences so that as long as you aren't stupid underwater, nothing bad should happen.

Only a couple of times have I had an "Ohh ohhh" moment. Nothing bad every came from these moments, just cool stories!

    You should try it!

  • @JessieeBessiee YES! i am the same way with water. i hate being in it because i dont know what is under me... like when i went to this lake... i was so scared because i knew there was a town at the bottom. but i LOVE thinking about it. its SOOOO awesome.

  • @JessieeBessiee yeah o_o

  • I've been to some freaky dark places underwater, but that would really make the little hairs stand on end.

  • if that was a hand it was well preserved ,, or maybe a fresh kill

  • I live on Keowee and know the history. This is a Joke cousteau video.

  • @Stretchmancando

What's your problem? Where's the joke, other than you?

  • Comment removed

  • @Stretchmancando

Why did you remove this comment: "I live on this lake and this video is CRAP. This water is clear at any depth." Is it because it proves you haven't a clue?

  • @kellyrus408 The water is clear, but when you dive down to 115 feet, there is a lot of silt on the floor. It takes only a slight swish of the water to stir it all up. Then, instant black out. So, actually, I think they did a great job of showing the graves without completely stirring up the silt. When you learn to dive, do this dive and video record it. Let me see if you do as good or better. I'm looking forward to seeing your submission. Oh, and let us know how long you were at depth.

  • @slynnish

Are you directing your comment towards me? I did the video. Can't be bothered to look up how long the dive was, but it wasn't long. Water temp was low 50's to boot!

  • @slynnish Well, by the time you get certified for 100+ feet, I'd expect that you would be somewhat proficient in non-silting finning techniques (e.g., frog kick, helicopter turn, reverse kick).

  • mama mia !

  • mama mia !

  • Incredibly excellent choice of tunage!

  • Are we to believe they moved the bodies, but left their headstones behind ? Bet the bodies are still there. Wouldn't be the first time bodies were claimed to be moved, but weren't to save money.

  • @CreepysFan

Some believe Jimmy Hoffa was buried there during the excavation.

  • holy crap... is that a HAND at 1:31 mark that is on top of the sand that the diver reaches for?

  • @CarolinaBearKub

Yep! I guess there were one or two bodies they forgot about!

  • @CarolinaBearKub i think its a glove....

  • That lake is amazing ive been there before but neeed to see the underwater town

  • cool video kellyrus looks like a real adventure. thanks for the posting

  • lol your partner must be a retard he touched the freaking hand i would have slowly went to the top so i ddint get the bends lol taht would be cool and scary

  • This is both chilling and sad at the same time. Huh, what a strange feeling . . .

  • Why are they underwater?

  • They built a dam across a river.

  • read the description

  • thats so messed up i dont think they even moved the bodies first ASSHOLES!!!!!!!

  • They flooded the town of Shaw, WV like this when they built Jennings Randolph Lake, but they went in, dug up the graves and carefully moved the coffins, bones & tombstones to higher ground. Its not right to just flood people's loved ones' resting place like that. Its a wonder none of the old coffins, (that can contain air pockets),

didn't float up out the mud. It happens, and its a stinky MESS!

  • i live near lake jocassee. lake greenwood used to have a ww2 bomber plane sunk in it but the pulled it up.

  • Pretty scary....I thought that was actually a glove right at the end.

  • Now im freaked out..I think I just heard Ned Beatty squealing...

  • You have nothing to worry about....unless you have a purdy mouth.

  • Every time i think of Ned Beatty,I think of the Jerky Boys,Sol's warts..It's tearin the ass outta me!

  • It doesn't look as if they removed the bodies at all before flooding it. I would be pissed if my family member was one of the ones buried there.

  • what the hell is that at 0:51

  • Someone who got left behind?

  • oh shit what was that REALLY??????

  • Just joking. It's a plastic skeleton some divers put there as a joke.

  • tomstone

  • i bet it was hard to drag the caskets underwanter and bury them like that.. maybe the graveplots are a lot cheaper underwater...

  • It's harder to get the backhoes underwater to dig the graves.

  • thats true, i didnt think ab that.. what a hassle that would be.. but at least a dog couldn't pee on ya..

  • I hope the moved the dead before they flooded the town.

  • why r they there? how did they get there WTF HAPPENED

  • the tombstones? cuz it was once a cemetery. once the bodies stopped floating up it became a dive site. pull the plug on the dam it it'll be a cemetery again.

  • The city/or state probably needed to make a dam so what they would do is either remove the bodies and put them in a another cemetery and flood the area afterwards

  • Are you saying that this is the cemetery from the movie? This lake was there before there was a movie.

  • That's what I'm saying. The movie was made in 1972 and the lake was finished in 1973.

  • why is it there!!!!!!

  • I believe there once was a church there, so it was originally a church cemetery.

  • that was a hand!!!!

  • looked like it t o me

  • I am nearby up in NC.They moved them to one of the new cemeteries where they have to have the flat markers so it's easier to mow.

  • Is that a hand at 1:39? And if they moved the bodies why not move the headstones?

  • Yup, that's a hand. Divers have places parts of plastic skeletons all over the cemetery as a joke.

Some grave stones were left behind because some of the bodies were reburied in memorial parks that don't allow stone memorials.

  • it really looked like a hand, but the lakes been there so long, would that be possible.Creepy as hell,i wouldnt dive there.

  • How did this cemetery end up so deep underwater?

  • ....or, how did the lake level get so high? Probably has something to do with the height of the dam.

  • Jocassee used to be a town with a creek running through it until Duke power evacuated the city, dammed the creek and flooded it and made Lake Jocassee so it's not just a graveyard it's an entire town.

  • Glad the bodies were moved. At least this is one Cemetery that isn't being vandalized. Still creepy. Great video.

  • I would never dive in Lake Moultrie! I'd be so scared a giant catfish or alligator would eat me! lol I live really close to the lake, and you couldn't pay me enough to go diving in there.

You are very, very brave for diving into a cemetery, in a lake! lol

  • Oh man, the temp was 50 degrees, my teeth were rattling, the visibility sucked and you want to know the dates on the stones????? Don't know.

  • what are the dates on those headstones?

  • Alot of them I have seen are like 1818 or 1851 or 1926.

  • wow

  • OH DEAR GOD THAT IS CREEPY!!!!!! I'M NEVER GOING WITHIN A FIVE MILE RANGE OF THAT LAKE! Bodies rotting in graves that have been eroded into nothing by the water........(Shudders) uhuhuhuhuhuhuhu.

  • hands and heads still wash up along the shoreline!

  • Is that what that person picked up at the end of the video!? aw hell that's desgusting!

  • That was a joke. All bodies had been removed and reburied in "dry" cemeteries in the area. What remains are a few tombstones.

The hand is a plastic hand planted in a grave space by another diver.

  • ........That's not funny. If I'd been the guy who discovered that, I'd of soiled my diving gear. But you didn't need to know that did you. Sorry.

  • Where is this lake?

  • Jocassee South Carolina. there is also a flooded cemetary in Hill, N.H.

  • It's in the northwest corner of SC in Devils Fork State Park. If you dive it's a fun day of diving...lot's to see.

  • This is spookier then any movie I've ever seen.

How could they flood a grave yard? Wouldn't the living relatives want their loved ones in a place where they could visit the graves?

  • All the bodies were removed in re-interred in other cemeteries. Some of those cemeteries didn't allow above ground memorials so those memorials stayed in the cemetery and are the ones you can still see.

  • Okay, thank you. I don't know if it's a crime but to purposely flood a grave yard didn't seem right.

  • I just saw this on "news to me" TV

so this is a cemetery where the later built a dam and flooded the area?

  • hhaaha! i would do that too to freak someone out! thats a good one!!!

  • DUDE!!!! IF I SAW A HAND!!!! I WOULD BE SWIMMING FAST!!!! becasue that thing STILL has flesh on it!!! that probably means that they died recently! maybe they died because something killed them under water while they were looking at the cemetery!!! and thats one of the reasons why i would be swimming to the surface FAST!!!

  • They'd call you the human dolphin as you shot out of the water :D

  • at 1:26,was that a hand?freaky.

  • Yes, a real plastic hand! Scuba divers are a sick bunch.

  • RIP Hamburger Helper

    1940 - 2008

  • damned old tva lol squeel like a piggy

  • that's f'n scary good video

  • ok diffenitly freaky, didnt know it got flooded like that, how long ago did this happen?

  • 1973

  • WOW really that long ago, thought it was something recent. nothings floated to the top in all those years?

  • All bodies were removed and buried in other cemeteries and the remaining tombstones don't float. Well, there was this hand......

  • Is it me or was that a skeleton on that tombstone?

  • It's not you. Crazies placed a couple of plastic skeletons on tombstones and in graves.

  • Is that a frickin hand sticking out of the sand!!! freaky I live in this area and thats some cazy shit I dive too what lake are u in i dove Jocassee and keowee but never dove the graveyards it's really cool looking but scary if that was a hand lol.

  • Call Upstate Scuba in Clemson SC 864-654-DIVE and see when the next charter to dive the graveyard is. I dive with them all the time there. It is a great dive and now its only in 105 feet of water since the lake is so down.

  • Good job with the James Gang's "Ashes, Rain, And I". Great song and very fitting!!

  • dude! this is sooooooooo tight! 5 stars!
