I really like end of this song with the choral like vocalizations at the end....I have sung in choirs for the better part of 15 years now in school on scholarship and now out of school for pleasure and I really enjoy choral harmonies. So whenever a metal band can combine those with metal, it's always a plus :P. I do enjoy Nightwish with Tarja more than Annette, I believe it is because I enjoy the operatic range she brought far more than Annette's traditional singing.

ok people: so Tarja is long gone. I don't think that the problem was the fact that they changed lead singers but the fact that they chose a non-operatic singer to replace Tarja. Annette is great, but what was so distinct about Nightwish was the metal-opera combo they had going. They got rid of the "opera" part and kind of lost their "Nightwish signature", if you must.

The music matters more than the vocals. The music is still the same. The lyrics are still the same. It doesn't matter who is singing them. Tarja most certainly has a beautiful voice, and Nightwish's work with her was beautiful, but she doesn't define Nightwish. She wasn't what was important.

@mintulle I dont completly agree....we have for example opeth, a proggresive death metal band, where the singer growls like the demon, but you can actually understand what he said (and english is not my first lenguage), and also have great guitars and incredible skills to create some kind of "dark atmoshere" in their songs :)

Granted not ALL metal bands were completely secular, but it is one of the most common traits. Evil comes from the biblical definition in most people's eyes. Its up to the metal artists to change that view and make people question what they always took for granted. (:

The darkness symbolizes cultural isolation, which comes from any of the following: a left-wing lifestyle, secularism, or openness to things commonly unaccepted. I could go on further, but the main point is, its style is unique and a lot of it comes from its social roots, which include those claims that its 'evil'. This misconception comes directly from conservative ideals.
