what game isn't button mashing anyway? all games are constant button pressing. i don't know of any game from atari & nes through today where you don't press buttons the entire time you play (not counting fmv's/cut scenes, or when you are taking a break and let your character sit or stand around somewhere).

Bayonetta is button mashing. If you are expert at DMC, you know that bayonetta has a worse combo system. I would say it has a better one, but only if it had different styles and jump cancel...OH and less air time, and no pre scripted moves. THEN, it would be better, but otherwise, DMC is still king of hack n slash

Nope, I always play on max difficulty. I played through several times on the highest difficulty. The harder the difficult means just more dodging and jumping. Still mash mash mash lol. You'll know what I mean. There's a specific dodge button too. You don't have jump cancel which means no skilled long combos, and instead, you have a crazy amount of air time to just mash mash mash. It takes little skill. Look up breatol's videos on dmc gameplay. THAT is pro gameplay.

@SilentPhenomed I have played DMC and I've seen Breatol's videos. I never neglected the fact that DMC is a lot harder to master, still in Bayonetta, you can just mash and see what it does. OR you can try to do it right and do something really flashy. However you look at it DMC has more of a glitchy, superfast move pattern when you do supercombos, whereas Bayonetta has extremely smooth, but still really smooth moves.

what I appreciated in DMC is that it took forever to master, and don't get me wrong, I GOT FLASHY....but it was too easy. Those epic combos you see of bayonetta are easy to do. Lift an enemy, mash mash, change wep, mash mash, transform to animal and hit, mash mash, use hair. I got flashy, but don't super "amazing" combos were to easy, and I like a challenge being a hardcore hack n slash fan myself

Oh, and because you can't change weps or styles in and out at a menu which made them get some weird mental thought that combos couldn't be done, when in reality, Dante's on the fly styles and items bring out more excessive combos than dmc3. Oh yeah, and it was also because of no virgil. They hated on DMC4 because they didn't want some new character and because they wanted dante as main character. Story reasons really.

compared to the other dmc games, dmc2 sucks. As a game itself, its pretty good. You might want to play it because its the latest dmc, in terms of storyline. Dante is at his oldest. What makes it suck is no Dante humor, worse combo system than dmc1, bad level design, weird dioulogue, and plain story.

I count myself in being an original DMC player. From all the way when it first released. It was the game that got me to buy a PS2. And I have sense played the following three. I like all of them even if they had a weird order and felt different every time. It was a nice change of pace. Still Nero was a horrid cope of Dante, it was fun playing through 4. And I can't wait to play Bayonetta either. Looks beautiful and energizing.
