Hey can you help me with a BIG problem that i have with my firestudio?
when I speak through the mic it sounds fine but when i record it and playthrough cubase there is lots of interference do you know how to stop this please?
hi, i know this video is a bit older now, but i have a few questions i am hoping you can answer. I am contemplating buying a PreSonus FireStudio Project second hand. The seller has lost the software except cubase, which i am not purchasing, as i am using pro tools 9.
I think i can get a current driver from the site, but what i would like to know is:
a) will the driver contain software to make separate personalised headphone mixes?
@soundslykmusic All of your routing for headphone mixes will need to be done in protools, and the universal mixing software which comes with most presonus devices, now.

@Mianmeli25 You could do that. You would need to setup headphone mixes in Cubase from the VST connections section. This is figuring you are using Cubase, of course. let me know what you are using, if not that.
Ok, so I've tried and tried to figure this out, but when I sent the signals for separate mixes to Firecontrol any track I turn up or down affects everyone's mix.
I am using Logic Pro 8 for and my headphone amp is a Behringer HA4700 - Powerplay PRO-XL 4.
For example, i have a drumset with 8 mics.... i connect all of them in the presonus.
Can i capture each mic in a diferent track (everymic at the same time a in diferent tracks) and equalize each track separaretly after recording?. Than you so much
One other question. Do you have a tutorial on how to use multiple drives efficiently in terms of setting up audio to dedicated drives. I hear some even have dedicated drives for pluggins. I know every program is different but the basics are similar.
@flutsh1 Well, yes, but there's two volume levels here; you need to find a good balance between them. To rely solely on Cubase's mixer won't always do all you need.
Im using this firestudio project with Cubase studio 4.. I want to purchase a 4 or 8 channel headphone amp for my live recordings.. i need help on how to set up that headphone amp and how to give each headphone amp user his own mix.. its a little confusing because theres setting to change in cubase AND in the control consol that came with the presonus hardware... ANY help will be appreciated..
FireControl is shown here for the PC, is it safe to assume that identical software is provided for the Mac platform? I would very much like to see how the FireControl software works (is integrated) on a Mac! I am thinking about buying the Project Studio. Does Presonus have a Mac-friendly track history?
Practically the only people i've heard complaining about Presonus are mac users. If I were you, I'd do a lot of research before purchasing the Firestudio.
The answer is yes. I am currently tracking in a studio where the sound engineer has a Presonus FireStudio Project, Two Focusrite OctoPre Platinums, and a MOTU 8pre all integrated together working into Digital Performer 7... using a MacPro.
Here are the specs from PreSonus' website:
Mac OS X 10.4.11 or Mac OS X 10.5.2 or later (10.6 supported driver 3.4.2)
PowerPC G4 1.25 GHz or Intel Core Solo 1.5 GHz processor (2 GHz or faster recommended)

would you be able to do the separate headphone mixes in a live gig situation while recording? if so, how would you do it? thanks

@romans421 This is a more complex routing that you want to do, I'd need to work with you one on one to really take care of the issue.
@Jed9133 You can add VST FX to the instrument track that EZdrummer is on, or add them to your master track in cubase.
Call us if you would like in depth help. We offer a new user singup bonus at our website, obedia.com - or call us at 1-866-847-5686. Thanks!

nice vid!
i got 2 questions..
1. are the general outputs stero or mono?
2. and can u assign anything to any output? - there are no decidicated general outputs for a specific thing?
Thx!
SlashRulesGibson22 1 year ago
@SlashRulesGibson22 Hey there,
The outputs are each mono outs, to create stereo pairs.
You can assign anything to any output, using software routing.
thanks!

why would you adjust the volume of the singers mix on the Presonus mixer?
If you gonna record a singer in Cubase, you can send it right from the cubase sends right?
the latency should be just like a few milli-sec's that way, right?
to me your makeing it harder then it is... or am I so wrong? lol
thnx for the video's tho!
cheers

Hi.
I use the Firestudio Project on my MacBook Pro. It works perfectly, and very similar to the Windows version.

If I were you I would go with mac based hardware like MOTU rack units.
TheFutureLooksGrimm 2 years ago
@TheFutureLooksGrimm MOTU stuff is good, but more expensive. You can get by just fine with Presonus hardware.
