If VH1 ever does another rendition of Behind The Music, Wilson Phillips needs to get on there. They've been through a lot together--from dysfunctional parents (Beach Boys/Mamas & Papas) and their drug problems/abuse, Carnie's weight problems, and Chynna's departure from the group, and the emotional comeback.
To my Dad, there's not a day that goes by that I wish you and I were still in each other's life. We're not perfect. We're both too proud to admit our wrongdoings, and admit that we have hurt each other in the process. We have missed out on so much of our lives. Yet, in my heart, I still long for the day when we can see each other again and just talk to each other, and focus on the here and now. That's what matters. I miss you so much, Dad, and I love you. I'll always be your little buddy
This song made me realize that despite I'd grew up without having my father physically close, he always loved me and he always will! Thank you so much Wilson Phillips for this great song! It means a lot to all those ones who never had not necesarely a father, but maybe someone special.

I had 4 of their Wilson Phillips MVs in a Laser Disc, talking about obsolescent...Sigh ...I wish EMI records will release a DVD of ALL their MVs, including this one...
Wow. Note the watermark at the bottom of the video. That was my website. I guess this was downloaded from there. Sad that it's no longer around. At least Carnie did post on the message board.
You know Chynna was the pretty one but i think if you asked most guys, they would want to be with Wendy. She is a stunning sultry beauty with the most amazing eyes. She really gave me sleepless nights back in those days. Imiss those times!
I love this song to and I understand it I the daughter of an absentee father and when he is here he's very abusive mentally and physically to me, 2 of my older sibilings(brother and sister) and my mom. The only diffence I never heard anything about Brian or John being that way.
these girls grew up with a mentally ill parent......no one ever really knows the pleasure of this unless they have lived it..so don't judge or pretend...........
It's a very emotional song for me, it's so easy to feel the pain in this song!
Twinmom9906, I know where you're coming from, I know a girl, she's 10 now, and her sperm donor has never wanted to have a father/daughter relationship with her, she wasn't a boy. Really sad.
when i was mad at my father for being a asshole i sang this to him music is the only way he understands feelngs he has three daughters and care not for one of us.
OH MY GOD! This song is my favourite! I can't believe I forgot this song and finally hearing it again after all these years!!! thanks for sharing! sigh..the sadness of times past
This song has always touched me, but just in the past seven years that my two older daughters father has completely cut them out of his life, it's really been a heartbreaking song. I had my dad until I was 13 and he died so I know what it's like to grow up without a father, but I don't know what it's like to be rejected by my father. I can only imagine the pain they feel. THey are 9 and are starting to get to the point of wanting to know him. It just breaks my heart.
God do I miss them!!! I love them so much!!! Wish they would have one more concert so me and my mom can see them and sing along...all we have now are albums and memories....where did the 90's go?!
An absolute AMEN to your comment. I would love to see them myself. They wrote such amazing songs and their talents are just wonderful. It's not the 90's going, it's that great songwriters and performers don't get appreciated by the media like they should. It happens in every decade.
i never had a relationship with my father till this day and till this day everytime i hear this song, it makes me cry. this is such a beautiful song and the SHADOWS AND LIGHT album is a very sad cd but very moving and there best cd! :)
Wasn't this around the time that Landy had his meat hooks in Brian's back? That would explain alot of the animosity his daughters felt towards him and (maybe) from him...?
Landy was keeping Brian from seeing Carnie and Wendy.
PS. Should we start calling Wendy "Barbie" or "Blonde Doctor"? Maybe she could hook up with Zach Braff. They definitely need to go out with JD and Eliot together.

That's a very sad song. I'm sure Brian Wilson and John Phillps must have been pissed after seeing this video.

If you know about Brian, then you understnad that Carnie and Wendy were really pissed, and rightly so....
BTW Wendy looks totally like Elliot from "Scrubs"
