I agree with you about the "Break - In" period. I havent purchased the A8 subwoofer yet because the A2's by themself sound so awesome. I have done a demo for my friends and positioned them about 8 to 10 feet from the speakers pointed at them and they could not believe that., that big of sound was coming from them. They even searched the room for a subwoofer... LOL
Best $200.00 I have spent in a long time. This product is truly under priced.
I just picked up a pair in gloss white. At first I thought i had made a $200.00 mistake. The speakers sounded horrible and I wanted to go back to the Klipsh pro media, After about the 3hrs of tuning and re-tuning my iTune's EQ. The A2's sound "AWESOME.!" As for the Klipsh, they sound phenomenal for a plug-n-play set & well worth $150.00.
I'm now going to purchase the matching subwoofer. The A2's & sub paired up., There wount be anything on the maket that will touch it in it's class.
@jus115 The A2:s need a long break-up time. So after maybe 100 hours music played on the A2's they should sound great without Eq. I have them, i love them :) They also need to ba raised from your table so that the silk tweeters is in the height at your ears. That really helps make they sound better witout an Equalizer! You can use books for that if you don't have anything better :)
The problem I have with product reviews is that they are not always honest. I purchased the A2's based on several Youtube reviews and unless acompanied with a subwoofer, the A2's truly sound just ordinary. First the A2's drivers are too small to produce any midiocure bass. Playing different genre's of music was hard to find a balancing point because I offten had to make EQ adjustments. In my oppinion buy the Klipsch for $150.00. They are worth it and will exceed you expectations.
That may have sounded harsh but I don't mean it as an insult because everybody does it (not realising the futility). Could you please tell me where you bought them (as I can't find any retailers around London).
Very good review but please refrain from demonstrating the sound quality because so much will be lost from recording it then uploading and finally the viewer's speakers. So in the end, it will always sound worse than what is normally produced on a viewer's speakers
@sapwn666 Yes when you listen to this you are not getting the sound they deliver, but keeping that in mind, this still sounds very good! You can imagine how good they really are because even in this recording you can hear how clear it sounds in that room, even the bass is quite good for such small speakers.
Thanks for the review. You didn't really say anything I didn't already read, but for some reason you make me really like the speakers :). I'm looking at getting the A5s, because I'm after a bit more bass.
So after being un-impresed with the sound of Harman Soundsticks, you've helped me make up my mind. My nearest Audioengine source is a 1-hour train ride away, but probably worth the effort. I quite literally registered on here JUST to say "thanks" for posting a coherent review with good info, good visuals and *shock!* ACTUAL sound! Cheers, mate!
Perfect timing posting this vid - Thanks! I've been looking for some Mac speakers for a while & most of the reviews on here are either done by 12-yr old gimps who can't string a sentence together; or shopping channels that over-hype every product with B.S.... and then never play any tunes through them! There *might* be some decent reviews on here, but ****ing YouTube blocks anything with Sony/WMG content in mainland Europe, so I can't get to see them.
@jus115 can you share your eq settings mate?

@TruyC Yeah, I've just ordered the A5's. Apparently those definitely don't need an additional subwoofer.
