  • did he say the handle is very sturdy or isn't? hard to tell.

  • Three weeks ago I posted a response to the video that I would add a H100 with push/pull exhausting out the top. I would now intake with the same, have 2-120 intakes at the bottom, have the two HDD cage fans intaking from the front and exhausting with a 140mm out the rear. In this situation I really could use a mesh along side the PCI slots in the rear for extra ventilation under positive air pressure (a mesh like the HAF 932).

  • The cutest cheeky crooked teeth grin on the tube. Period.

  • For some strange reason I love this case. I was able to do a good hands on at the local store. I really want the windowed one. I expect with the window I will have to intake air from the front and bottom. I will be putting the SSD cage back in which will block some bottom air. CM could modify this case similar to the Silverstone TJ04-e and have a home run.

  • Is this better than Cooler Master HAF X?

  • @MrKarush I would say so. Looks better, I think cooling is better. The compatibility is i think the same along with most of the features.

  • LOL 36 mins exact

  • This or HAF 932 Adv!?

  • @ItsTrailBlazersTime This, definately

  • I'd put my bag of cocaine :D

  • Comment removed

  • definitly this, it has many more features, and blends in way more. plus it has the cool secret drawer

  • Recommend this or the antec lanboy air?

  • you sir really underestimate the power of your mic

  • An exciting case with possibilities. One thing I wish CM would have done with the bottom intake below the SSD cage would have been to attach the cage at the back bottom and the fan location on the front so one would be able to have both (like the Silverstone TJ04-e). If I get this case I will have to put the fan in and then rig a bracket on top of the fan to put the SSD cage back in.

  • Will you be able to put a rx 240 in the top with one set of fans?

  • @goodstufftoyou Apparently you lack the attention span to watch his video in it's entirety. But I will submit to your laziness and say yes.

  • You should totally do a build with this, water cooled obv, i'd love to see the loop with the top and bottom rads

  • So does the Cooling Master come with fans provided

  • @xxdominic1 I believe it comes with the two 120mm's in the front, the rear 140mm, and the top 200mm as standard, although as TTl mentions in the video the 200mm is very loud, and I'm planning to replace it with 2x 120's anyway.

  • omfg is anyone else noticing him swallowing loud as every 3 words, soooo fucking annoying >:(

  • HAAH noob. your psu is upside down :D. Love the case...i have it on my table

  • `dam PC cases are ugly. I want to build a PC for games but I'd like it to have Mac Pro look.

  • @ShutUpAndListen79 That's like saying, I want a Ferrari performance car in a Smart car look. lol.

  • @frankth3frizz I just look like my computers to look classy instead of like a spaceship or robot. lol

  • @ShutUpAndListen79 I'd recomment the Fractal Define XL then. It's very large so you'll be able to fit the biggest of rigs inside it, plus there's lots of cooling options if you want to keep it cool, or you can have it quiet. I also like the look of it, no spikes or plane-wings sticking out of it, just plain and simple stuff that works really well ^_^

  • @ShutUpAndListen79 check out antec's performance one cases, or something like the 800d from corsair. they dont look like macs (God forbid) but they look great.

  • nvm that comment :P he does explain that you can rotate the front fans :P stupid me :D

  • Hows the airflow in this case? I see theres 2 HDD coolers but these are blocked off from the rest of the case *ie, airflow towards the gpu or just clearing up air around the mobo in general*

  • This or the hf x?

  • @Zendicar Depends on what you want to do with it really, mate. I'd recommend this over the HAF X, but that's really only personal preference, along with the ability to put 2x120mm fans on the side panel to cool the gpu's.

  • you can fit 2 120mm fans in the top, right?

  • why does everyone say "if your at a lan...so people dont take your stuff"

why do you go to lans with such shady people all the time?

  • @magicianscratch The world is full of shady ppl.

  • @magicianscratch Do you know everone sitting at Dreakhack? >3000 people go to dreamhack...

  • Very thorough review! If I purchase this case I will likely add a Corsair H100 with push pull with air going out of the case. I will also add 2-120mm fans to the bottom and reinstall the 2.5 inch cage after modifying.

  • dude, this or the haf x?

  • @TheManMetal HAF X all the way! No doubts here!

  • @233kosta no dust filters in haf

    so high dust flow?

  • Is it possible to place a 5.25 hard drive in the 5.25 external drives in the top, or do they have to go in one of the hard drive cages? (yes, im new to pc building)

  • I want one.

  • is you give this a gold what are you gonna give the cm storm striker. XD

white exterior and a side panel window and its have all the cm storm trooper features

except the 2 120mm over the gpu's I'm so excited i might burst XD

  • Same, got my new rig set up in this on Monday and.....she's a beauty. BUY IT NAOW!!!

  • Just bought this motherfucker

  • he looks like baba ali..

  • thanks for the review, couldn't have been any more excited about getting a case and now that I have it I love it, it's amazing!

  • TTL, You didn't really explain the details on the HDD cages and how they work, orientation and such, as well as how you install a HDD in this case. I know you can swap the fan so it's front to back or cross flow, but can you change the orientation of the drives regardless of where the fan is? I'm hoping you can install the HDD like they are in the 600d for example, while still having the fans front to back. Are the HDD on trays, or rails, or screwed to the cages themselves?

  • one other little thing you forgot to mention in your review Tom,

that is the one where you need to remove the little strut in the middle of the case if you want your harddrive bays facing forward, it' s fastened with two screws

otherwise great review, it has been the one review that made me purchase this case, and so far i love it and i do see a lot of modding potential in it, like for example stuffing three rads in there with only two visible from the inside of the case, see other post.

    Thanks

  • would be a great case if it had a side window. that is huge for me, and i dont even have anything amazing to show off lol, i just dont like seeing a completely black panel. and at its price, it should have a side panel window.

  • @hoofhearted44

What is peoples obsession with Side-windows? I don't get it at all.

  • @Mkilbride2599 it just looks nice. bulges and vents and junk on the side, imo, are ugly. id rather have a window. plus its cool to look inside and see everything running seeing all your hardwork and money running smooth. plus if you want LEDs and W/C, then is sweet to be able to see it.

  • @hoofhearted44

That still doesn't make sense to me, why so many people want it. I actually got the Storm Trooper, among other reasons, because it by default does NOT come with a Window. I think Windows look stupid & let the LED light leak out. I try to get as many LED'less products as I can. Sometimes I sleep with my computer on and I don't need a freaking Night-light to shine the entire room. Also, I like to watch movies and stuff on my computer, which LEDs distract from.

  • @Mkilbride2599 you dont need LEDs. and you can always shit them off. youd be stupid to plan a build with LEDs that are constantly on....i just like to be able to peak into my case. and it does make sense, because its my opinion. i like to have a window on the side over a vent or mesh or something. i think mesh is ugly. i dont wanna have a blank boring black panel staring at me. i wanna be able to see my money at work.... and again. if you W/C, you wanna show it off.

  • @Mkilbride2599 those are really good points. id love to see a shutter design so you can have both.

  • You forgot to show the inner workings of the 5,25" bays and the HDD bays (i'm guessing they're 3x 5,25" -> 4x 3,5" cages with 90 degrees rotation)

    Otherwise, great review.

I found Cooler Master HAF-X on sale around christmas, so i bought that at 50% off :D

Unfortunately i forgot to mount the wheels below and orientated my PSU downwards, resulting in it suffocating and dieing from overheating after 10 hours of folding@home... :(

New one in the mail though :)

Did you review HAF-X? Couldn't find it

  • Nice review, really indepth. Tumbs up for it.

  • The handle is soo stupid, see your self walking across the street with a fully loaded case. If you think that the newest gaming gards (like the gtx 590) weigh like 1.5 kilo's and older once well if high end you would be talking around kilo maybe less. The case it self weighs 13.7kg / 30.2 lbs / 30.2 pounds. Do the math youself and give it your own opinion but no I would place this case once and leave it there :']. But nice to use it for the first time.

  • what would you suggest as 120mm intake fans for this case, so that the air still gets pulled through the dust filters?

  • Tom did you have a nerdgasm? ;) Yeah think I'll be getting one of these in the neat future.

  • What is the mobo?

  • Comment removed

  • Weed Stash!

  • Thanks a lot for the warning about the top 200mm fan. My storm trooper and a custom 200mm fan just arrived and i was curious to see how loud the stock 200m fan and my god it was loud even with rubber mounts.

  • If the rest of you are like me whenever you watch a review on a chassis with secret compartment (6:00) first thing you think is "hey that's a good place me to my cannabis ;)"

  • i think with a little bit of modding one could put a rad right under the top of the case, so it would in fact be outside of the case but still invisible, as said before one would need to mod the handle a little bit, something in the line of bending the handle bit and making a new and higher bracket to attach the handle to

  • I'm planning on buying this case very soon, and the review you made was great! I just have a small question...

How/Can you remove the top of the case if you want to swap that outtake fan on the top? Or do you even need to remove the top to swap it?

  • ugly. don't care.

  • you had to take a stab at the engineers. they are the best purpose driven designers. now architects have looks in mind. thus a architect must have designed it.

  • Lambo fins and mesh on top is what you think it is, Tom mate :) Check out the Lambo Reventon, amazing machine!

  • Hey guys, I have a $3,000 budget for a pc. What do you guys think I should do? Please let me know :D

  • @XxAssasin21xX buy a mac, i hear there really good

  • @GormousGorre idk about that.. lmao

  • @GormousGorre macs are trash for the fodder, as far as gaming and doing what you want is concerned. build quality and Photoshop performance I'll admit is better than windows based machines, but hardware wise a hard drive will fail or a CPU will cook itself.

  • @darth62969 My friend has a £3000 mac.. it can do everything better than a pc noob

  • @GormousGorre Yeah, but for the same price as your friends mac you could get a much higher-end spec pc.

  • @potatocats dito, plus you can do any f@%king thing you want to do to it

  • could i fit the Asus Rampage 4 Extreme in this case with 3x6970 in there and maybe a 4th ?

  • I would stick to Coolmaster due to the fact it is a trust worthy and massive assed case :D

    Giga H55M-UD2

    12 gigs of RAM

1 x ATI 6970 (Going to dual boot 2 soon)

    Corsair 800Watt

Coolmaster HAF 932 3 x Fans 1 of which has RED LEDs :3

  • 6.00 "You could have this as a secret hiding place". 10,160 people know where it is.

  • @lewisner parents and GF might not though ;)

  • Tom, should I get this, the HAF X, or wait for the CM Cosmos II? I'm planning a water build so I can fold 24/7 without killing my CPU when I turn the heat on.

  • @MrShyguy0 If you go water get HAF X or better yet the Cosmos 2, the options on this are too limited.

  • hiding spot for porn! i need to get one of those cases!

  • Would this case be enough to cool 2x GTX 580 on SLI without water cooling?

  • @TheStarkify a case wont make that much difference to your GPU's tbh fella. But this is one of the best cases out there :)

  • thanks for the respond guys, so based on a couple of youtube user answer and also from some other review sites, i can conclude that a 4 fan, 2 push, 2 pull h100 on the top placement is impossible because the handlebar support is blocking the top 2 fans placement... but still this is a very good case, and a very good video review :)

  • Dw found it

  • Does this case fit a noctua d14

  • what motherboard are you running in this video? thanks

  • @TimeToLiveCustoms Would you recommend the Fractal Define XL with the NH-D14? Thanks.

  • great review! ordered this case!!! will be with Asus Maximus IV Extreme-Z

  • @angelostefano72 Ugh, I've been debating getting that mobo. It's super expensive, but I was going cheap mobo, but I use mine for 4 years min, so I thought of going for a kick-ass mobo, but in a time where money is tight, tough to say.

  • Yeah, I was going to get a HAF-932 / HAF-X, then saw this, and man, got to love it's style.

  • Just one thing I fail to understand about it:

why is there dust mesh on the side-panel but simple holes just above that?

Is it because the air will be flowing out of there somehow?

Can't really picture that in my tiny mind, it seems to make no sense.

  • I chose this case *because* it hasn't got a window (among all the other reasons) O.o

Still love to watch reviews about it, because it is that friggin good and it still raises my heartbeat realizing I will own one soon.....which must be the saddest consumptionado's admission ever :)

    Thnx for another good review.

  • The FAQ on the Storm Trooper website says the following:

Why is the bottom CM Storm logo plate not attached to the hidden tray?

The plate and tray remain separate to allow users to remove the hidden tray to install various watercooling radiators or intake fans at the bottom of the case. If the two were attached, it would leave an empty space when the hidden tray wasn’t installed.

So I think it is in fact a feature.

Question: Is it actually a good idea to have your intake fans on top?

    Thanks!

  • GAHHHH best reviewer on youtube! Keep it ooooop

  • i have got this case and i think its great however i am having a bizzare problem with the fan speed, if i have it set to anything other than full speed my monitor flickers anyone else having this problem?

  • Comment removed

  • can this fit a corsair h100 in 4 fans in push pull configuration ?

  • @g4r15 why dont you just watch the video :)

  • @TimeToLiveCustoms maybe cuz its way to long ?:P

  • @g4r15 it can't, i tried, tom lied. You can only get a single fan underneath the upper housing as the other one is impeded by the handle's connection to the case. It is still phenomenal and i run 3 fans on my top radiator

  • @g4r15 No. I just purchased this case and rather disappointed that fitting fans Above the case (Under the top panel) Is not an option due to the handles.

Attempted a push and pull config under the case, But the ram gets in the way.

  • Tom, should i get this or HAF X?

  • @Me1kko air or water - if water what rad(s) basically Id say this unless you already have a 360mm rad.

  • 6:30 beast weed stash lol

  • I plan to get this. Would it be worth it to fully load it up to the 9 fans it supports, and if so? What fans.

Really interested in it. Like insanely. But also think the Phantom looks sexy as hell.

  • @Mkilbride2599 more fans doesnt mean it will make it any better mate. Its all about ballence. Its a great case but dont just fill it full of fans for no reason or you will ruin it and earn yourself a massive n000b badge

  • @TimeToLiveCustoms

Alright, I've been building computers for 4-5 years, but I still consider myself a n00b, and don't think of it as to much of an insult.

  • Tom would you say this is the best case for around £150.

  • @crimson177 For gaming yes mate I would.

  • man i want this so bad but honestly.. $200 on a computer case.. i dunno =/ i might as well get a new processor or motherboard with that kind of money

  • 11:00 word looking for is beveled lol, great review trying to decide cm trooper or half x

  • Ive never understood why people stress over wire management in the back panel..a bit anal it seems.

  • Good place to keep your weed at 6:02

  • @uutttg lol thats what I said!

  • @knockdoun - haha..Should call this the CM Smoker.

  • Hi Tom, much appreciation from Denmark! I've looked everywhere on youtube to find a proppa'h review and my G O D - you keep giving the best/most humorous reviews, lots of honesty and personal style... oh and by the way, I'm gonna get myself one those hoodies of yours!

Tusind tak for dine anmeldelser <--- In danish: Thanks a thousand times for your reviews!

  • Excellent review as usual - keep up the good work :-) .

  • another great in depth review... well done!!!!

  • I am thinking of having the corsair h-100 on push/pull. Having seen the review on the Fractal Design Arc Midi I was thoroughly impressed but then we have this. Which one do you think is more value for money as they are both very impressive?

  • cosmos 2 hurry up

  • your mic technique could use a little work lol, but great review as always.

  • "Worst case scenario", I see what u did there hehe

  • Thank you for this extensive review! Hope to receive my trooper next week.

  • lol no offence thermaltake user but its not gonna be long be4 they copy its design. lol

  • ;_;

I'd happily trade all my hardware for a Pentium 4 if it meant I could have this damn case!!!!

  • I WANT THIS CASE!!!!

    But it's £140...

    sad face.

  • @TimeToLiveCustoms Great review, as always of course. I was wondering which do you prefer though, the HAF X or this? Cause when you hesitated by saying it was the best case Cooler Master has ever done, I thought of the HAF X (despite the Cosmos being above it iirc) :/

  • @FUJERE2 i have a haf x, and i can say it's a kick ass case. but if i had the choice between this and the storm trooper, i would go with the trooper. just my 2 cents though.

  • Great review, but when you're doing the runthrough of the case, could you do it with the system on? With it off, it looks a little lifeless, and it'd be nice to see how the light looks.

  • your cable management always kinda gets everyones attention.

  • great review on not only this video but all videos you go above and beyond the needed reviews thank you i am glad i have subscribed to you since you MNR v1.2 build(2 years ago)

  • @angrysake whoa! one of the shed subscribers! Thank you dude ;)

  • you underestimate your mic power :P

  • @infrinous19 you forgot the "mate"

  • weed stash

  • You say anythink?

  • those beeps sound exactly like my microwave

  • @jeanforthewin congratulations!

  • I like your videos as soon as I see your face. Im not gay or anything lol!

  • tom, I want to know what you're hiding from your missus?! you cheeky little muppet!! :D

  • How are the actual temperatures when runnning? You never mention anything abou that. Otherwise great review!

  • i just have one question , can you take the top off , how should you put fans in there ? thanks asome case , a bit expensive but just a bit

  • this case alright for average gameing. but nothing compared to supercomputer that people like einstein use. its ok for average intelektual people. i guess i will buy alienware gameing pc for my scientfiic researchment

  • Great review as always.

    @LKxDESIGN

    Lol.

  • wy theres no starwars, i mean, i check for Storm Trooper and i no see starwars in this video, if this would be starwars compoteu, this would be a supercompoteu by nasa or alienware gameing pc. This compoteu is no good qualiter.

  • You explain everything in a lot of detail which I like.

  • Emailed CM Storm and they confirmed that they will be bringing out a separate windowed side panel :D and their website does state watercooling compatibly on the bottom of the case...maybe they did mean to do it....hello christmas present!

  • @craigreed17 "Yes, the window side panel will be launched in February for order by the CM store." Was the exact response.

  • HAF X owner here. I really, really cant understand why they went with the 2 x 120mm's blowing at the harddrive bay.

They should be located in the middle to blow towards the graphics card and general motherboard area. Cooling harddrives with two 120mm's? Really? So they run at 36c rather than 40?

Its a "gamer" case and gamers dont need HDD cooling. Maybe if this was a server case. Only thing I can think of is that if they had them placed properly it would fight the HAF line for selling points.

  • @Sugarfootti The drive cages can be rotated to have the fans up front blowing into the GPU area as well, he just didn't show it rotated.

  • you can fit a 240mm rad at the bottom as well, if you remove the small storage box!!

  • But its ugly. I want a case with all these features but I also want it to be beautiful. Are these incompatible features? I can't understand why most cases are these god-awful black monstrosities.

  • @nootron It's definitely not the worst case I've seen when it comes to looks.

  • Haha, I'm appearantly not the only one that tought about something else to put in the hidden compartiment then a wallet or screws.

  • HAIRCUT! :DDD

  • Comment removed

  • seriously, why do you have to cover EVERY SINGLE FEATURE????

i really wanted to use that secret compartment to hide my weed^^

    no seriously, awesome review!

  • almost in 10 XD

  • you could also hide your weed in there! ;)
