Fact. Why didnt the PE teacher Mr O"Brien see anything? he was on the oval in charge of the kids. Across the road was Humes pipes that had lots of emplyees. they saw nothing. Go to Phillip Island and start pointing to the top of a gum tree at nothing, in no time at all all the tourists will start taking photos of a Koala Bear that does not exist. Fact... On the day there were more people that saw NOTHING than said they saw something. My mate that was with me saw nothing, but when the TV crews came around he decided to get his head on TV and said he saw it all. He was interviewed and it went to TV that night. We killed ourselves laughing. My dad used to pick me up in his army uniform after school and on the day some kids told him they saw a flying saucer and said dont say that too loud you will locked up.
What were you doing at the school? Were you a student or a visitor or a teacher? It seems like much of the info at the time was due to a Mr. Greenwood, a supposed science teacher. Did you know him? You could be right- it could be a tall tale or mass hysteria or something like that. But is it possible you just didn't know the students who witnessed it. Surely people were talking about the alleged incident soon after it occurred?
But I've read quotes from Greenwood where he is talking about the craft he saw that day. Are you saying the quotes were simply made up? If so, you could be absolutely right. It wouldn't be the first time a paper made up quotes. Do a little research with Google and see what Greenwood had to say.

what a load of crap, I was at the school on that day and nothing happened. The grass pushed down in the Grange was from all the kids running on it .
Back then it was the hang out and everyone mucked around there.
