  • I'm insane over her solo lp with 'Do your Homework' ect,,,,absolute killer tunes all the way through----am still nutz about her----beautiful lady and voice!

  • Used to see her with the Explosions in the SF clubs... so great to hear she's alive and kickin'!!! Rock on!!!

  • does anyone know where i can dl this song?

  • Pearl could kick ass......

  • Nice tribute to Wanda Jackson! Pearl is featured in Rin Tanaka's new book My Freedamn Vol. 8...killer video!!! Wasn't she married to Paul Simonen?

  • Yes, she was

  • I HAVE VIDEO OF "PEARL HABOR & THE EXPLOSIONS"

    SINGING "DRIVING" fm.JAN.22,1979

ON MY SITE..WILL BE PUTTING MORE UP SOON

  • folks, just to set the record straight...Pearl Harbor is alive and kicking! she's my boyfriend's aunt and we just had her over for dinner, seriously...most amazing lady! :)

  • Whoever thought she was gone? I wish she'd tour!

She played the '98 Hootenanny in Irvine.

  • @wrenlike

I collected everything when she was with the explosions and when she went solo, got the last cd she did, so wish she would give it another shoot in the uk, loved the dont follow me im lost too album, realy hope she would do another like that ;-) love to her from a huge fan in the uk <3

  • omigosh? So it wasn't her??? That makes me soooooooo happy to be wrong, odd that i'd be saying that, but thank heavens...so was that Jane Dorknocker then? or am I a totally unreliable source now? who was it?

Either way Pearl is one of the raddest chick singers EVR!

  • Pearl is so hip - one of the only girls I knew in the 90's to wear a beehive- she is really sweet too!

  • what about cindy wilson and kate pierson?

  • Ah yes........dinner seats at the Old Waldorf with The Greg Kihn Band, circa 1980. Awesome memories!

  • Does anybody know what year this was filmed?

  • I'm not sure, but didn't her solo record (without the Explosions name on the cover) come out in 1982-83?

  • I am so grateful that it wasn't Pearl Harbor that died...even though I am sad about the other woman.

  • Holy shit! I was just wondering why the Explosions haven't got back together...well, I suppose it is because she died??? What a bummer. I wonder why I never heard the news? Sucks, totally sucks.

  • Yeah she totally died live on air in the late 80s when the helicopter she was riding in crashed cuz of some malfuntion, she was giving a traffic report near the Hudson river at that exact time. You can hear her last dying report on this contraption-but be warned it's a total buzzkill to hear such a cool chicks last dying words:(

  • Clearly, an even more tenacious performer than even I knew, to have died in a horrible helicopter accident in 1986 (according to the ever reliable Wikipedia) but to not let it interfere with her recording an Explosions album with East Bay Ray called "Here Comes Trouble" 1995 and to perform shows with that lineup as recently as 1998.

You just can't keep a good woman down.

  • okay so she stopped rocking and tok a position as a radio traffic control operator. You know the person on the radio that say shit like "congestion on the east bound lanes of the 105.two car pile up-blah-blah-blah".

  • it's so sad what happened to her :( totally buzz kill to such a kick ass rocker chick!!!

  • What happened to her?

  • All I can say is, "WOW"! Pearl Rocks. Long live Pearl Harbor and the Clash!

  • Sweet

  • Pearl E. Gates was her name at the time.

  • Eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee! I love this it's so EXCIIIIIITING!! Fujiyama mama!

  • loved seeing her with the explosions years ago in san francisco, thanks for the post!

  • first show i ever ushered for Bill Graham was a two show set with Pearl Harbor and the Explosions leading in for the Talking Heads. this was definitely one of the best shows i ever saw. after sitting people in the upper balcony of the Fox Warfield i was able to sit in the very front row (ushers have privileges!).

i wish i could find her "Shut Up and Dance!" somewhere... let me know if any of you know where it is.

  • Yeah, opening for Greg Kihn at the Old Waldorf, They were GREAT!
