  • I would hope the srt-4 would win...if the wrx has no muffler its losing power it has no back pressure its just a big air pump...Additionally even if he wasn't a retard and had back pressure he'd only have approx 260 at the crank where as the srt-4 stock is at like 250 I believe with the mods it has its probably decently higher...wait till the wrx goes stage 2 assuming the retard has the sense to do that.

  • backpressure = bad, please speak not of what you know not. Also mufflers have little if nothing to do with backpressure...downpipes/midpi­pes is where more exhaust backpressure is held..

  • Your a fool if you think back pressure = bad...Yes with a turbo charged car it is not as important you can do 3 inch piping with a 4 inch tip and be fine how ever even with a turbo charged car if you open it up to much you will likely lose power, Mostly this applies with N/A cars example a Honda civic take a civic slap on a exhaust with 3 inch piping and a 4 inch tip and your suggesting it will have more power? if that were the case everyone would just rip the exhaust off you damn fool.

  • You my friend are the biggest moron I know, back pressure is less important on a turbo charged car since the turbo produces alot of pressure hence how you can see power gains out of 3 inch piping and a 4 inch tip, how ever on a stock civic if you slap on 3 inch piping with a 4 inch tip it will just make noise and you will lose power, of course you want it more free flowing but if you get rid of all the back pressure it'll just be a giant air pump I've seen it happen many times on the dyno.

  • You need some back pressure if you didn't why don't we all just cut off our entire exhaust headers back or even turbo back run straight turbo? Sure there are laws about that state to state but what about trailer queens you can do w/e you want at the track why don't they do that?

  • you could run open downpipe on a wrx, its a turbo car, it needs NO back pressure, the turbo creates the scavenging effect

  • I hate it when people read the reviews online then talk about the SRT-4 like they've been in one. My brother owns a WRX and it's NOT that serious. "Beat a srt through corners?" Who fucking races on corners? I've never seen a race around corners. "With some well chosen mods" ANYTHING can beat a stock SRT-4 not just a WRX. What guy complains about the interior of a car? Sound like a bitch. All I need is a clutch, steering wheel and brakes!

  • i dont have to read reviews jackass ive driven many of them,and they are pretty fast when modified other than that they are shit,interior sucks but hey its neon right? the transmissions suck, they have little traction from a dig, and at a road course the wrx has better handling hands down and the srt wouldnt have a chance..how do i know, my friend has an srt and takes it to the road course all the time and always gets raped by awd cars with less mods than him

  • if i were to choose between the two based on achievable power on stock turbos, reguardless of engine reliability, i'd choose the srt-4 every time. the stock turbo is much bigger.

    I think WRX or some 4WD cars are faster than any 2WD cars in 0-400m.

  • Yeah, a lot of haters say the Srt-4 is just a Neon. That's because they've never driven the 2. If they have, then they would never compare the 2 cars. If you want to call the Srt-4 a cheap car, the WRX and Evo's are no more expensive inside. All 3 are basic model cars with a turbo or super charger installed.

  • ok, the 3KGT stopped being produced in 99. the car was ahead of its time in looks because it still turns heads when i'm driving, and mine was born 11 years ago. sure, i get excited seeing an srt4, and the 3KGT is heavy, but that's a charactoristic of any touring vehicle. i chose not to get the vr-4 because didn't want to screw around with the only realisticly priced with over 100K miles on them. mine had 41K. heh i bought it from my math teacher.

  • SRT-4's look better than 3000 GT's especially when the SRT's are lowered... and i hate when people say its still a neon... all it has from the neon is the base body style.. and SRT-4's bodies still look better and the have a totally different engine, tranny, interior, rims, exhaust, and more than the regular neon...plus its turbo'd >:)

  • Well said Trent. The only people that say it's still a neon are the ones that know nothing about the SRT-4. And yeah, it does turn heads, I would know cause I have one and people turn. Maybe the reason cause it looks way different than your regular Neon aside from all the other differences.

  • really? an srt-4 package for a standard neaon? wow they ship you a whole new engine, hood, wheels, brakes, suspension, and dashboard? come the f*&ck on dude get a clue as to what the srt-4 is. for around $500 over what you pay for the srt-4 you can get 500 hp with a chip replacement and then you'll have a car that will eat any sti or evo and even most corvettes and mustanges in a straight away.

  • i have a 96 mitsu 3KGT base.. 222 hp, to the 230 stock neon. i've never raced one, but i'm sure it would be close considdering a N/A V6 to a turbocharged inline 4. as more boost is ran under a 4 cylinder, the more improvement there is. considder more boost applied with a new turbo.. the sound of a blow off valve always is so sweet too. it does come from the poor ass neon, but in all reality i would rather have an SRT-4 than a regular neon with a turbo slapped on.

  • Well the SRT-4 without a doubt will eat the 3k even if they do have close hp. You have to also consider the weight differences. A light 230hp car will ofcourse smoke a 222hp heavier car. It's also all about what you put in the car. I've seen some montorous SRT's out there and some slow ones *cough cough :(* lol.

  • Ok I look at it this way SRT-4 Neon top of the line neon base 3Kgt bare bottom and still kinda hangs with the srt but now 3kgtvr4 top model for the 3k's smokes that neon.

  • So here is the deal with the "Just a Neon" comment. What all you SRT punks don't get is no one really cares if your car goes fast is a straight line. What you don't have and may never have for that matter is AWD. Another reason is the resale value. Another reason is the looks! SRT's have that ass in the air look to them that most people with any stlye hate. Check out compairisons with the Saturn Ion Redline. That is a little more your speed.

  • This car isnt only fast in a straight line in fact the SRT-4 has won many competitions beating out hondas/acuras/nissans and the like in the compact racing series. Style? You do realize the new honda civic is almost IDENTICAL to the neon. Its all preference, most people here will tell you import tuners are the ugliest cars on the planet, with their body kits and carbon fiber.

  • I don't understand why everyone says srt-4's are JUST a neon. the srt-4 isn't even remotely a fucking neon retards. It's a 2.4 liter DOHC with a fucking turbo, different chassy, drive train etc. etc. etc,!! They are not even remotely the same engines dumb asses. The only thing it represents from a regular neon is the fucking looks morons, i have a 2000 dodge neon, and trust me, it is not an srt-4 at all!!
