he was beautiful human being who lived for a purpose..sadly he was assasinated but with Barack Obama becoming president,Martin Luther King's purpose has been fulfilled millions of times over!
find it so wonderful that we live in these great times when great men like MLK have already changed history and made our lives better in terms of racism, equality, freedom, etc.. but how else can one become a great man now when there seems to be nothing much to be great about? im neither a poet nor a writer nor a good speaker, but i sure want to do something great for humanity even if i dont get famous for it.. I hope MLK will continue to inspire us to be not just a "man" but a "great man"...
I remember each assassination: JFK, MLK Jr. and RFK. With each one we had the wind knocked more and more out of the spiritual gut of the nation, until the power of the anti war movement, the civil rights movement, and the social justice movement all but disappeared.
There is the potential for the peace movement to flower again with the current fledgling anti war mentality that's stirring. I never would have believed that people could become as passive to social injustice as they are today.
Jesus Christ is Love. May He bless all of you, Black, Hispanic, Jewish, Muslim, White, Republicans, Democrats and All Countries people. May He bring us all together in PEACE. God Bless MLK.
it's obvious that he was fearing something and was threatened by some whites. And he knew that he may died. Focus on his face , eyes and the tone of his sound specially when he said"Because I've been to the mountaintop" and when said "And He's allowed me to go up to the mountain" the tone of his sound reveals that he was fearing something.
congratulations martin,The 44th president of united states will be black . The blacks reach the promised land.
don't say "some whites" i do not care what people think but that is just as racist as saying"some blacks" please just say some rednecks or something, because not all white people are rednecks, lol
I was not alive for the assasinations of President Kennedy, his brother Senator Robert Kennedy or Martin Luther King Jr.; their deaths occurred 20+ years before my birth. But, I am sitting here watching videos of their lives and deaths with tears streaming down my face; I am so deeply moved by all of their words and actions not merely by just their tragic, tragic deaths...
A perfect example for everyone. I am not African American, but this fine gentleman has moved me and inspired me to always have faith and be strong. And yes, he is already in the promise land. THE GREAT MR. MARTIN LUTHER KING

Tim Russ. said that the Democratic nominee would be sworn in as their candidate on the 40th anniversary of MLK's I Have a Dream speech.... i know who that man would be, Senator Obama.
A lot of you guys don't realize that there is much more to his 'prediction' than saying "I might not get there with you."
In the bible, God tells Moses that he will not make it to the promised land. So god takes Moses to a mountain top, shows him the promised land, and then Moses dies.
THAT is what is so eery about his prediction. "He's allowed me to go up the mountain top. And i've looked over, and i've seen the promised land. I might not get there with you."
ipwnnewbs50 that was a really good assesment...i'm glad you've picked that up...maybe Martin just like Moses could look into the future...maybe God told them things you know.
...to the history of mankind which can inspire humanity as a whole. The candidacy of Mr. Obama is beyond the individual himself, which can be understood when one's soul & spirit are not clouded by the darkness of society. There are many divine elements about Mr. Obama's candidacy that are ripe for the greater good of humanity. I hope Americans look at this 2008 presidential election on a spiritual level that unifies, instead of on the level of religion, culture or the divisive political dogma.
I hate to disagree with u but I must. Electing a black or female US presisdent is an absolute internal issue for Americans. No difference will be seen. If Mr. Obama is elected, will it stop the killing of millions around the world because of the foriegn US policy? the answer is NO. Will he work to reduce crime and drug usage rates in black communities? the answer again is NO. He is boasting about morals and great achievements and people like u and I don't know that his masters in WDC feed him..
.. all these big words. He is just another corrupted mind.I think we are living the darkest times of mankind history.People are being killed for no reason and at the end they tell us that we r providing people with democracy. I must tell u my friend, it doesnt matter whoever is elected. It'll be just another day in hell. So relax and enjoy the ride.
If you believe we are living in the "darkest times of mankind history" you may wish to learn a bit more about history.
Most now recognize slavery as morally repugnant. Voting is not restricted to white landholders.
In the US, the homicide rate per-capita is considerably higher than other industrial nations, but the rate has been reduced significantly from, say, a century ago.
Moral consciousness, while still consideralby twisted and deficient, has been improving.
The election of a Democrat will not break the military industrial complex, or work to fix a plethora of other substantial issues. It will however, prevent another warhawk from lashing out at whatever seems to be a good [weak] target.
America is not in the darkest times physically, but very much so mentally. The overabundance that was found in the 80s and 90s has corrupted whole generations, to forget the struggle for a better america, and struggle only for personal wealth. This sleeping generation allowed a tyrant AKA Bush and administration gain power and redirect America's direction. It is essential that this be corrected. We must ensure the next generations or intune with reality and societal improvement.
Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. was a brilliant genius. He truly cared about human beings and it is sad that this brutal and hateful country was the death of him.
I was a rascist, but when you see what people like MLK were willing to pu on the line, the sacrifices they have made for their cause, it truly makes you realize what a special man he was, and help me see the coming of the lord and purge my mind of its discrimination
Sheesh it's almost like someone told him he was going to die soon. It's such a wierd coincidence that he would say "I may not get there with ya" in his last speech. O_o
MLK was a man of God, when he says "i've been to the mountain top" he refers to Moses when he whent to the top of the mountain, met God and received the commandments, God told King that his time was short so he knew he was near death, but he lead black people out of adversity into the belief of a better life, and truly it came, i can testify to that, though there was "difficult days ahead" such as aparthied, the promised land is racial equality, then heaven. Now we are on step closer!
After recieving multiple death threats, MLK knew foresaw a time where his enemies will prevail over him. By delivering such stunning speeches, he sought to create an idea greater than the being of him.
My Grandpa's Lucky Because when Martin was Alive he was alive and got to see Martin! I So wanted to Meet him! CURSE YOU JAMES EARL FOR KILLING MARTIN!
MLK is so amazing. He gave up his life- even before his death for the cause. What a sacrifice to be jailed, arrested, away from family life, threatened with death, stabbed, his home bombed, and he kept on. He kept on doing what he knew was right. Doing the work that needed to be done. We are so blessed to have had MLK as a nation. My 5 year old son loves MLK and I plan to take him to the National Civil Rights Museum in Memphis soon!
can't believe his life was taken, less than "24hrs" after this speech. the more things change, the more they stay the same - 40yrs later. if only the assassinations of the 1960's never happened...
he was a great man, a fantastic speech, that "I Have A Dream" one captured many peoples hearts and changed the people's perspective on life and how they treat people from a different race, because he's absolutely right, and slowly, racist people are knowing that its a disgusting insult to do that to someone who is different from you.
I do not believe in the existence of the Abrahamic God. And yet this man speaks to me. Almost makes me want to say, with true conviction that, "mine eyes have seen the glory of the coming of the Lord." If there is a God, I hope he is giving Dr. King eternal peace.
This speech is a true testament to courage.MLK jr knew that his life was in serious danger but he still went on and gave his speech and even shouted at his murders that he was not affraid.
DOES ANYONE KNOW WHERE I CAN OBTAIN ARCHIVE FOOTAGE OF HISTORIES SIGNATURE BLACK ICONS ONLINE? if you do can you msg me, your help is much appreciated.
He stole this "edited" version from an Austrian prisoner during WW1 who wanted Europe to be united as one. It was placed in a museum in the US as artifacts from that war! a few days after king viewed it, it was "miss placed" then he wrote his version filling in places and adding some words! He is a thief and a liar! just like every other Black civil rights leader! He also had an affair the night before he was killed! Look it up, his best friend came out in saying that!
I find the history intresting, and black history is definity a part of history. I have a question about black history that anyone who wants to can awnser it. During black history month I always see quotes from MLK, Malcolm X, Rosa Parks, and other people of that nature. More recently I have been seeing Kanye West quotes post everywere during black history month. Is Kanye West considered to be up there with MLK or is it just a coincidence?
looking in his eyes as he said 'i've seen the promise land and i might night get there with you' sends goosebumps through my body...i think he knew he was going to be murdered soon
i am a 15 year old puerto rican and i appreciate EVERYTHING that this man did, also the people who supported his movement. THANK YOU SO MUCH MARTIN LUTHER KING JR for making america better and im sorry you had to die young
The WORLD not just america but THE WORLD need to have a rememorance of his works. we have gotten so twisted from it that its almost sick. some african americans think they can do as they please because of their ancestor but i doubt their ancestors wanted it the way it is now. Its really sad how far we've gotton from kings dream. Racism is still a hudge problem today and we need to solve it and full fill his dream. Its truely up to us
jesus its almost as if he knew what was going to happen the next morning when he says "i might not get there with you". it sends chills up my spine. i cried.
When he says ' I might not get there with ya...' i got choked up... he knew people wanted him dead, but he did the right thing nonetheless.... now thats a hero
You're right, he faced death without backing down. This is what we need today, fuck Bush and his pansies, where could we ever get another MLK? The man whos hot him was to cowardly to show his face.
not exactly i think that he means that he just thinks that it will take some time before "we get to the promise lands". Which I'm guessing that quote means, where we the people can think we are all equal(white, black,European, so on...). Or something like that.
I wish I'd known him personally(MLK) been a good friend to him. Sad that i couldn't, but at least he gave us his amazing words & speeches.
A great guy indeed. He certainly was the Moses of our time. He did not speak his mind in those last words, but the spirit of God obviously spoke through him to strengthen and inspire the movement when he is gone. And the same spirit sure knew he had come to the end of his life and the work is finished. What a great fellow. I love you MLK, even in death!
Racism isn't caused by any "kind" of people - even if we were all the same color, racism would be based on something, nose size, hair, eye shape, height, weight... even if that was exactly the same, we would find SOMETHING differentiate...
Here's the only COMMON ground there is, and Dr. King knew Him, and is now with Him I'm sure, because of the main statement he says in this speech: "All I wanna do is God's will"!!!
I look forward to hanging with Dr. King in heaven.
It is so incrediably sad that there are video's on this site on "how to perform oral sex" that have received over 12mm hits and this great man has received 670k. Abraham Lincoln qouted "A house divided among itself can not stand" and we as a country are still separated by those vary tenets of life.
Martin Luther King was truly an incredible men...but let us not forget, that these speech were only a tip of the mountain...mountain of pain and suffering...like in Birmingham, when Bull Connor sent dogs on the kids...
He was murdered in Memphis... but many times before there were attempts to murder him...like in new york, when he was selling his book... Rest in Peace...
ok, Im a white catholic from NY. I am not the most religious man but I have to wonder after listening to MLK, did he talk to god? Im not at all beaing sarcastic. Its just that I have seen this speech in its entirty, and It feels like he new what was about to happen to him. He sounded emotional, not because he thought he would die, but because he knew that his work was done.
these were the words that got Martin Luther King murdered.
the white establishment feared that Dr. King was putting himself on a par with God, and that people would see him that way. Such power to move and influence so many people was a major threat to them.
Every great man gives a prophetic last speech, whether it be months or days in advance.
He was "surrending" the movement to God -- plus he was probably having very rewarding dreams of God for all his great work, as it came to a triumphant close.
We witnessed the work now we need to pick up his shovel and his hoe and get to work in this tangled garden....and greater works shall we perform within our own lives.
Christians need to take on the mantle and stop pedalstalling our heroes.
R.I.P.Martin Luther King!

I think Hillary knees to Zionists. Obama is funded by Rockefeller and his organizer is Zbignew Brzinski. McCain is clearly pro-New World Order.
The Zionist control over america is total, they control 96% of the media.
Ariel Sharon once said "I don't care bout the US public opinion, I own the Congress". I know believe him.

I might not get there with you."

...to the history of mankind which can inspire humanity as a whole. The candidacy of Mr. Obama is beyond the individual himself, which can be understood when one's soul & spirit are not clouded by the darkness of society. There are many divine elements about Mr. Obama's candidacy that are ripe for the greater good of humanity. I hope Americans look at this 2008 presidential election on a spiritual level that unifies, instead of on the level of religion, culture or the divisive political dogma.
abdoulaye9 3 years ago 5
I hate to disagree with u but I must. Electing a black or female US presisdent is an absolute internal issue for Americans. No difference will be seen. If Mr. Obama is elected, will it stop the killing of millions around the world because of the foriegn US policy? the answer is NO. Will he work to reduce crime and drug usage rates in black communities? the answer again is NO. He is boasting about morals and great achievements and people like u and I don't know that his masters in WDC feed him..
babychavez82 3 years ago 3
.. all these big words. He is just another corrupted mind.I think we are living the darkest times of mankind history.People are being killed for no reason and at the end they tell us that we r providing people with democracy. I must tell u my friend, it doesnt matter whoever is elected. It'll be just another day in hell. So relax and enjoy the ride.
babychavez82 3 years ago
If you believe we are living in the "darkest times of mankind history" you may wish to learn a bit more about history.
Most now recognize slavery as morally repugnant. Voting is not restricted to white landholders.
In the US, the homicide rate per-capita is considerably higher than other industrial nations, but the rate has been reduced significantly from, say, a century ago.
Moral consciousness, while still consideralby twisted and deficient, has been improving.
ct91rs 3 years ago 69
The election of a Democrat will not break the military industrial complex, or work to fix a plethora of other substantial issues. It will however, prevent another warhawk from lashing out at whatever seems to be a good [weak] target.
ct91rs 3 years ago 52
America is not in the darkest times physically, but very much so mentally. The overabundance that was found in the 80s and 90s has corrupted whole generations, to forget the struggle for a better america, and struggle only for personal wealth. This sleeping generation allowed a tyrant AKA Bush and administration gain power and redirect America's direction. It is essential that this be corrected. We must ensure the next generations or intune with reality and societal improvement.

I don't think that it's a coincidence that he said "I may no get there with ya". I actually think that he knew he was going to die somehow.

Sadly, yes.
But as Shakespeare once said:
"Be aware of death. Then death and life will be easier"
Meaning, MLK Jr did not fear his own death, because it in his meaning was a price he would pay for the cause of freedom.

Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. was a brilliant genius. He truly cared about human beings and it is sad that this brutal and hateful country was the death of him.

My 5 year old son loves MLK and I plan to take him to the National Civil Rights Museum in Memphis soon!

he was a great man, a fantastic speech, that "I Have A Dream" one captured many peoples hearts and changed the people's perspective on life and how they treat people from a different race, because he's absolutely right, and slowly, racist people are knowing that its a disgusting insult to do that to someone who is different from you.
Peace Out Martin.

Is Kanye West considered to be up there with MLK or is it just a coincidence?

not exactly i think that he means that he just thinks that it will take some time before "we get to the promise lands". Which I'm guessing that quote means, where we the people can think we are all equal(white, black,European, so on...). Or something like that.
I wish I'd known him personally(MLK) been a good friend to him. Sad that i couldn't, but at least he gave us his amazing words & speeches.

LONG LIVE MARTIN LUTHER KING JR!!!
YamatoTitanic 3 years ago 7
First of all, I need to say that I am a White, 61-year old Vietnam Veteran. Martin Luther King was a hero of mine, as well as JFK and RFK.
I was in Vietnam in 1968 when "they" (and you know who I am talking about) killed MLK and RFK.
The white Christians of today should follow the examples set by MLK. Instead, they talk of hate and fear.
ytdelong 3 years ago 19

A great guy indeed. He certainly was the Moses of our time. He did not speak his mind in those last words, but the spirit of God obviously spoke through him to strengthen and inspire the movement when he is gone. And the same spirit sure knew he had come to the end of his life and the work is finished. What a great fellow. I love you MLK, even in death!
chymexus 3 years ago 6
I'm watching it over and over and over.
And over and over.
I know his mimics, for how long he says "seeeeeeen" and cold is shivering through me.
Even when I could not understand a word of English felt I the power of his words, that truth is what he says, and nothing but the truth.
His speeches transcend everything, for they came from eternity.

King in heaven.

these were the words that got Martin Luther King murdered.
the white establishment feared that Dr. King was putting himself on a par with God, and that people would see him that way. Such power to move and influence so many people was a major threat to them.
He was murdered the next day.
vincero2006 3 years ago
Every great man gives a prophetic last speech, whether it be months or days in advance.
He was "surrending" the movement to God -- plus he was probably having very rewarding dreams of God for all his great work, as it came to a triumphant close.
We witnessed the work now we need to pick up his shovel and his hoe and get to work in this tangled garden....and greater works shall we perform within our own lives.
Christians need to take on the mantle and stop pedalstalling our heroes.
