scott you are awsome and later in my life i hope i will be abble to donate and the person calling you names has no idea how helpfull you guys are and he has no clue what he is saying
@megatronstars I never said THEY imprison cats, when I said captive animals I meant that the animals they rescue were captive and had grown up on captivity, hence they couldn't simply release them in the wild. Oh and for the record, I was QUOTING a guy who was saying the big cat rescue imprisons cats, you should have read the whole thing and you'd have seen many people quoting this same guy down below before saying that >I< can't read.....
Where do you rescue these big cats from? When I was a kid a guy on my street had a lion cub named Marcus. He wasn't a trainer or anything and I always wondered where he got Marcus and what became of the cub once he reached adulthood.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
@BigCatRescue Well, you take away their option by taking them while being cubs and say that you cant get them back to the wild. STOP MESSING WITH NATURE, assholes
@MADRABBITONRABIES 99% of the cats we rescue are older cats, we very rarely rescue cubs or kittens. All cats that can be rehabbed and released (Florida bobcats) we do this. There are no programs for releasing captive bred big cats, and our cats would not be suitable as they associate people with food, have no fear, lack hunting skills, they would become nuisance animals and would be killed..... even if they could be released which they cannot.
@foxpups1 This is an almost impossible task, plus the above comment would make it a waste of time, what we need to focus on is preserving habitat and educating people to ensure the survival of already wild populations of cats.
@BigCatRescue You still dont take shit from nature its wrong, I saw u had a snow leopard, the most rare of the felines. I still think u deserve to be punished for this.
@MADRABBITONRABIES The rescue aren't the ones that took the cats from the wild. Stupid people buy these cats on the black market and then don't realize that the animals grow and are dangerous. At that point though, the damage has been done and the cats can't be released into the wild due to they don't know how to survive. The rescue then takes these cats and gives them a safe place to live the rest of their lives. The people at the rescue would never take an animal out of it's natural habitat.
@MADRABBITONRABIES Are you dense? They have no choice. These cats were ALREADY captive BEFORE Big Cat Rescue was in the picture. By keeping them in habitats, BCR is giving these cats the closest thing they can possibly have to the wild. If these cats are released at ANY point in their lives, they WILL die.
@MADRABBITONRABIES and you should change your name to FailedEnvironmentalist.....next time get some information on captive animals and how troublesome it is the very thought of returning them to the wild before spitting bs about stuff you don't know, "asshole"
@Bo0skiesz Animal Planet have filmed segments out at the sanctuary before, so they know who we are and what we do and I agree a TV show would help us reach a wider audience about the problems these cats are facing...
@tjk200081 This is a common question. The answer is the black panther is not a species, black panther is what people sometimes call a black leopard or black jaguar. Panthera is part of their scientific name which is where the name comes from, so a black panther is always a black leopard or jaguar, which is a result of melanism, when excess melanin causes a darkening of the body tissues :) Now you know...
Wow, in a lot of videos these cats always seem to keep one eye on the trainer(cameraman?), even when playing with enrichment, etc. I'd be curious to see a video with some of the dangers involved in caring for these animals. For example, when it comes to some of the smaller ones, like Nirvana, do they ever exhibit the same type of aggressive behavior as some of the bigger cats? More than hissing, etc? Would the smallest cat at BCR right now attack humans like a Tiger would if hungry?
@TristanPhoenix Good idea, we've done similar videos in the past but might be time for an updated version about all the ways we work around these animals. A lot of the smaller species can be aggressive towards people especially people they don't really care for, they would attack if they had no other option but would prefer to run away from you.
@BigCatRescue u no even house hold cats can be very nasty they are very territorial i got a new puppy my ginger tom wasnt happy as he thought when he heard her bark it was our old dog come back cause shed had to be put to sleep from tumor when he saw it wast he tried to rip my pups face of i got a broken bone from him biting and stitches for scratches hes run up my bare legs to get dog to there crazy some cats
Do you guys still do this? It would be so cool to do that if we ever go down to Florida again. <3 I simply adore big cats. I'd love to work at a rescue like that, but I think I'm gonna get a job that pays me a lot so I can donate instead, lol.

I have a question. Your guide said the Great Cats are the Lions, Tigers, Leopards and Jaguars, but I've always heard that there were five of the Big Cats, the Lion, Tiger, Leopard, Jaguar, and Cheetah. Can you clarify that for me?
@apharot Hi, I believe there are only four great cats (lion, tiger, leopard and jaguar) these cats can roar but cannot purr. Cheetahs are a lesser cat because they purr also :)
@BigCatRescue i bet that all cats smal and big burr`s andthe have difind roar but its roar ^-^ big cats are not always bad if u rise them as kitten lolz then u can care for it but then the purson how has a wild animal need to have indication my meaning is let wild animals alone the belong in wild not in a human house
We have a few domestic cats that people have dumped over our fence etc... that we take care of. They can wonder around the sanctuary but don't stray too far and know the rules better than anyone!

and that scared me so much due to their roaring and bumping the car that I vowed to watch from at least a couch and tv set, or at least a steel door and window lol
Oh you're in the UK, I'm originally from there - Nottingham. I've never made it to Longleat, it's crazy to see how many people wind down their windows when they're driving through the lion/tiger areas!
wow Nottingham! I plan to visit there too someday lol
I know. Longleat is awful and dangerous, there isn't a lot of security and the lions are on a massive patch of grass with no, branches or anything , it's sad and It's going to take a lion attack to get people to sit up and notice and it's such a shame it has to come to that.
Hi, we have ducks, guinea hens and peacocks on the sanctuary, as well as a few domestic cats. The ducks stay by the lake but the guinea hens and peacocks wander around the sanctuary, the guinea hens are the only birds we actually brought on to BCR, they eat all the bugs and ticks etc.. all others have just made their own way, we feed them of course :) The domestic cats were either feral or abandoned at our gate, we of course get them fixed and look after them too :)
