This is so sad, I am so sorry for your loss. Was the horse sedated at all or are these the symptoms of Hendra? Thought it would be good to know in case we see any with similar symptoms (although I am sure they would vary and I suppose many other things could cause these symptoms too) but still important for us horse owners to watch and be aware. Thank you for sharing, again sorry for your loss, he looks like a beautiful fella.
@Jessle1000 Cheeky was not sedated or treated and the symptoms are those of Hendra alone. She did not seem in pain or distressed. I thought that it was important to show the symptoms which are unusual, but having only seen the one case i cannot say that they are typical and I would like other comments from vets who have seen Hendra. Are these symptoms similar??
It was not necessarily Hendra even though the symptoms seemed the same. But because it was not tested u can't say yes or no. Where was it? Cases that long ago had severe pneumonia along with CNS symptoms where the more recent cases seem to only have CNS and this change in symptoms delayed the diagnosis at the Redlands Practice a few years ago.
We put down a horse about seven years ago with identical symptoms - the owners assumed the old boy had suffered a stroke and on a Sunday it was going to be many hours before the vet arrived and he was becoming increasingly distressed, so they called us to put him down (neighbours - we have a gun licence). I wonder how many others have had Hendra over past decades and were thought to have had a stroke, spinal damage, brain damage or just found dead in the paddock.
I've been asking denglish0723 to delete this video from youtube ,so many times
however he is not willing to....
I am one of staff in this horsefarm and I loved Cheeky so much
Cheeky was special for me, same as a member of family.
I know its valuable for vet/students though,
Imagine if your mom is suffering from sick, writhing in pain and
somebody uploaded the video on YouTube? is it funny? can you stand with it?
