  • Please will you all join the Aragall Appreciation Association Group on Facebook

  • divine. not from this earth!

  • The most beautiful tenor voice you will ever hear

  • @esclarmonde1 This is truly the most exquisite tenor I've ever heard. All that power, and still the taste and artistry to channel it so exquisitely. What miraculous singing.

  • @ian1856 Are you on facebook as we have an Aragall Appreciation Association on it.

    alexandra. binnie@ntlworld.com

  • @esclarmonde1 I am on FB, Alexandra, but won't be for long. Just too many problems with gettting hacked, etc. Thanks for the invite, though, and for responding.

  • Really beautiful, Aragall is such a tasteful singer, wonderful!

  • In terms of sheer beauty of sound Aragall is at the very top of the heap together with Björling, Wunderlich etc. I heard him in Tosca years ago and the almost liquid resonance of his sound was breathtaking - it was irresistible. Before every high note he would freak out a bit but he more than made up for it through the quality of his voice.

  • So flat!!!

  • It must be my fault, however I can't help to notice some flatness in his high notes. What is it, too much forcing? It could be that the high notes are too dark. Or am I totally wrong?

  • @freirant you are right, he sings flat frequently here

  • @freirant I have never heard of Aragall singing under the notes or singing out of key, forcing? possibly.

  • gorgeous

  • Bravissimo!

  • What a Tenor!! He was a really great tenor but his panic beat him, sadly.

  • for me he is the best in this role scince the olden times no one in the last 1/3 sang this quite like him

Grazie! :-)

  • the man is class, the very best.

  • There will NEVER EVER be another Jaime Aragall!!!!!! ( Jaume is the catalan version of his name by the way!!!)

    J A I M E F O R E V E R !!!!!!!

  • Jaime or Jaume Aragall, is a great tenor with a wonderful and powefull voice, I love this aria from Fedora.

  • the best tenor for this aria!

  • Listen to Aureliano Pertile in this same aria !

  • I'll do so thank you for advise!

  • I think Aragall and Pertile have a lot in common, actually. Class acts both :) I'm not sure this performance shows JA in his best light.

  • Aragall combines the best vocal qualities of Pavarotti and Domingo and sublimates them by his unique sweetness that steals the listener's heart with its sincerity.

  • Questo voce mi fa piangere.........

  • Aragall at his best was splendid, a dark, thrusting, meaty lyric tenor --

  • wow! the best Amor ti vieta so far!

  • the opera is gounod faust, with montserrat caballe,if you can buy this opera,it is absolutely mindblowing,it is the best faust by a long way.

  • I agree that Aragall was the greatest tenor of the 20th C and I,m not alone in my appraisal; it's also Luciano Pavarotti's

  • Une très belle interprétation....

  • yes, jaume is a catalan like carreras and caballe, check him out on cd with montserrat singing the opera, faust, absolutely beautiful, also he is by far the best cavaradossi in tosca, seen him perform this 3 times live, his voice live is amaing.

  • Mille grazie rychehed for the info re:Aragall's Catalan heritage.I am so impressed with his voice from these youtube clips,I intend to buy the Faust cd you suggested. My question to you is which 'Faust' opera,Gounod's or Mefistofele by Boito?By the way, just from these clips,I much prefer the timbre and tone of Aragall's voice to that of Carreras. What's your opinion? Thanks again.

  • Carreras had a chance at becoming a good tenor, never great, but sang too often and in roles that were too heavy . His voice was spent before his awful illness

  • This is not Carreras, this is jaime Aragall... :)

  • Che bella voce! What a wonderful lyric tenor this man is.For reasons unknown to me,he was not recognized that much in America for the great lyric tenor he truly is. By the way,is Aragall a Catalano like Carreras and Caballe?Mille grazie for sharing this beautiful aria with us.

  • aragall, the worlds greatest singer, his latest cds show him to still be in fine form, there will never be another voice like his again.

  • Finally! I was looking for some material about Aragall!. Even though I think this is not his best performance, it remains an icon of bel canto. Bravo Maestro! Y gracias a Onegin65 por el excelente material.

  • He is so modest and disret...Too much !...

  • Yes he is indeed, even now, being older. Even today he never lost his timidness, if you go and meet him, after a performance ( he still is doing wonderful evening of songs), and you just want him to know, how gorgeous he was, he´s so incredibly modest. It´s wonderful when he embraces and kisses you, although being so modest, his eyes show, how glad he is. He really cares for his friends very much. And he still incredibly charismatic!!!

  • If you meet him again tell him please god should bless him all the time!

  • I will certainly. Just imagine he will be 70 this year !!! For me, Jaime Aragall was and will always be the BEST tenor for me. He´s jsut unique!!!!! And a wonderful humang being!!!!

  • Simple and perfect!

  • Short as it is, I think this is my most favoured aria. And, peculiarly, I think Mario Lanza is my preferred singer, even before the younger Pavorotti, De Stefano, Wunderlich and Jussi Bjorling. That said, this rendering is magnificent and I am sure I shall be revisiting it.

    Bravisimo

  • Giacomo was never underrated, his nerves would not have had permitted him to be one of the top 3 even though he deserved one of the top spots. That is why he retired for a while, then reappeared. Nerves are something some singers can never totally control.

  • Una meravella! Aragall was the best of his time! Una veu d'or. Thank you so much, Oneguin65.

  • Sadly he was one of the most underated tenors. He was a wonderful artist in the grand tradition.

  • Bravo!!!

  • This is beautiful!!!!!!!!

  • Saw him in Esclarmond at the Metropolitan Opera House. Would love to see a video of him doing the work. Pure heaven. Thanks for posting "Amor ti vieta."

  • thanks for this video. Aragall moves me the most.

  • Well when one hears him sing this lovely aria, it is no wonder that Pavarotti considered Aragall's voice better than his own.Solid from bottom to top, and the sense of line is unsurpassed.Bravo, and thanks Onegin65-yet another hit!!!

  • such smooth line, and subtlety in his upper notes. Wonderful!
