The last days of the mighty Slade machine and watching this reminds me of how damned hard they tried to get a single that would sell, even to the point that their very credibility as a writing force has sadly suffered when casual music admirers look back. Most today don't realize that for Slade a hit record was the ONLY way to ensure them ANY bookings of concert halls, unlike today where bands can charge 40 quid having not had a hit in the thirty years since this band called it a day!Sad eh?
Another underrated but great song. A fine Slade anthem in it's own right. Shame that the single never took off, perhaps for the simple reason that the single had little promotion, particularly with the fact that RCA were no longer behind it.
Lawmakers voted late Friday to legalize same-sex marriage, making New York the largest state where gay and lesbian couples can wed, and giving the national gay-rights movement new momentum from the state where it was born.
The same-sex marriage bill was approved on a 33 to 29 vote. The Senate galleries were so packed with supporters and opponents that the fire marshals closed them off.
Don't worry: didn't even read the comment. Can't even see it now. He's been at it a long time and he's mistaken if he thinks I'll waste my time on him.
In the meantime, let's enjoy the vid again!

@teddingtontcu And there you go again, you said comment removed? Where did I remove what?
Sorry Mr. NoNo nobody here is interested in your "commands" or education or any other crap. For education I will turn to the people who know something about music. I rather stick with the opinions of Noel Gallagher, Brian May, Gene Simmons, John Lennon etc. I am sure your Ian Dury and Led Zep also have a higher opinion of Slade, huh?
So don t forget to tell when we meet the 10th of next month O.K.? Hahaha
Here you are again Carlfluck................I feel sorry for you. I can just about understand why brit teens liked this in the 70's it was not something I liked. However you are not a brit and you are 44 GROW UP AND MOVE ON..........................Couldnt you find the windmill!
I really am feeling sorry for you in Amsterdam. Must be cold and damp in your little flat!
Seems a trifle slower than the lp version. Maybe it's my imagination. I still find this song utterly inspiring and play it every time I'm feeling down. It never fails to uplift.
Led Zep never really progressed over time. You can't sound the way you did in 1969 many years later.....Slade's music was constantly evolving, just the way it should've.
@juliedavis64 EXACTLY! Slade is the most developed band of all time with so many great tunes and have played so many popstyles, and yet these 'legends' still outsold Slade big.
Hehe... OK but imagine him or Muddy Waters trying to playing The Song Remains The Same in its entirety, live!!!
Dave could have learned from those old guys then he might have had a more creative role in the band rather than being the goofy sideman :) (Dave, despite beating you up for punching a young girl in the face at a gig, we do aspire to your goofy antics - Kate's Dad)
Dave did just fine in the role he played. And the SRTS was everything that was wrong with rock at the time - bloated, drunken solos that lasted for 30 minutes, and self-indulgent rock movies spliced together from hazy, poor quality video. No thanks, I'll take Slade any day. And I don't see Dave, Noddy or the guys having to rewrite their album liner notes to give long due writing credit to old blues artists, as Led Zep has done.
2 good bands really. Just different backgrounds. Trouble is this particular song I keep hearing doesn't quite rock!!! Led Zep didn't go pop & mime. They did take from what they loved & rocked it up. Not just to have a hit is the big diff!
Never seen this video before,so it was great to see something "new".The song has never been one of my faves, but even though it's what you couldclass as a rock ballad..Mr Memory Man ain't arf thumpin' them drums!

Yes, you're right. Dave didn't steal all his hooks from other bands and old blues players in the US.
