you are so talented! would you mind sending me the sheet music? ive been desperate to learn this since i first heard it! my email is its.morgann@yahoo.com
Does anyone know if Mae has a song book out of sheet music? I looked EVERYWHERE and I've managed to find just "We're so far away." I don't mind paying for it; I'm just having a hard time finding it if it even exists.
You know what? YOu're one of the best musicians who have inspired me to continue playing the piano and put our emotions and soul to its music. kudos to you! I'm also a pianist like you..:D
and your responses to that other comment were amazing...i can tell you really love the music. piano isn't my "instrument" but i'm sort of playing by ear right now....guitar is my main thing. but the same goes with that. you get the basics...the chord progressions and the scales used over them and you can just improvise. it's the best part to just show people how you feel with music.
I am a pretty avid guitar player and i must say you make me wish i had the talent to play piano as well, If you actually read this could you maybe answer one question? What goes through your mind during those quick beatiful note runs and melodic scales? Is it the notes or the tempo or are you just listening to yourself play? I have trouble as a muscian visualizing long extended runs and they seem to flow effortlessly from you, anything you can advise to help with this would be invaluable to me.
Wow. I really appreciate the comment =]. Thank you.
Anyways to answer your (tough) question, whenever I play the piano, I sort of just listen to the music as I play. To me, the music makes me feel or imagine certain things, and I kind of just continue playing from there. Combine that with where my thoughts and feelings are prior to playing the song, and you get something different every time. However, this doesn't just come without practice. (more on the next post).
I'm pretty sure you know that a lot of time and dedication is needed to become great at something. You have to at least be proficient with the basics and be able to apply them effortlessly without thought. Now, when I learn a song, I of course learn its basic notes, melodies, and patterns; but then I also listen for the feeling it creates in me. After playing songs by ear for about 4 years, it's all become a quick process, allowing me to put more emphasis on emotion and creativity.
Well that is the best I could explain my musicianship. It's really hard for me to explain something that to me is based on feeling and emotion.
Now for some quick advice, stay dedicated to your music and have fun. While you do have to put some thought into the notes you play, don't let the thinking part detract from the emotion of the song. (I always have trouble with this when recording myself.)
I hope that helped. That's such a tough question to answer =P.
Thankyou SOO much!! That was a great answer, i definately understand what you mean when you say to listening to the feel of any given piece of music is just as important as being proficient enough to play the notes properly. I thank you for all the music you have posted it all speaks to the soul when i listen to it, I look forward to all your future releases. I hope you consider offering a CD of some sort because i would definately buy one.
I just want to say I cannot BELIEVE you picked this all up by ear. The version you have on your MySpace profile is really excellent. Keep up the excellent work.
heh i got a bit nervous in this video. im surprised i didn't stop myself at the beginning. I honestly just felt like showing off just a little. I did the one hand thing much better in my new recording so give that a listen too =O
sorry i have no sheets. but i think i'll make em soon considering the amount of people asking for them. maybe even by this sunday if I'm lucky enough =D.
This is AMAZING...You are incredibly talented. Is there any way you could send me the video or sound file for this? I would love to have a form of this on my Ipod.
Its called Sun. The intro is my arrangement of the piano intros for the live versions. I made the other parts based on what felt and sounded right. oh and the original music is from a band called Mae. search em up if you haven't heard of em yet =D.
I love Mae and that was amazing!!! i can't even imagine doing that by ear! are you planning on writing sheet music for that? That would be really cool.
I'm pretty sure I'm about 200 of those 9500 views. lol
