I'm not a JW but a non-denominational Christian. That means if it's in the Bible (a version accurately translated from the original Greek, Hebrew, and Aramaic) I believe it and if it isn't in there, I don't subscribe to it (ie: Purgatory). Anyway, God doesn't look at death the same way we do. Christ made it possible for us to spend eternity in Heaven with God so taking away the sting of death. I believe in an age of understanding. Death doesn't = murder. I don't fear Heaven. Romans 5:8.

I was raised Jehovah's Witness (though I do not believe in God anymore) I always had a problem with how controlling it all seemed. Like I understand to a degree being told what to do, but I hated being told how to THINK and FEEL. I also didn't like how they discourage pursuing an education.

I am one of Jehovah's Witnesses myself however before I became baptised I took the time to ask questions and do research into the teaching of witnesses and the bible. I was never once told this was wrong or I shouldn't be doing it but was rather encoraged by the elders to shair any doubts I had about any teachings so that they could show me where the beliefs come from within the bible

Jehovah's Witnesses do NOT discourage gathering together or studying the bible. We don't debate the bible because we believe it is the inspired written word of our God, Jehovah. We don't need to debate the bible—as fully explained in Matthew 13:11.

@CSTheApostate The organization doesn't back up a lot of their teachings with scripture - and if they do it's really a stretch where they have to use multiple scriptures and a measure of mental gymnastics just to give some basis for a single teaching. The Society is more based on their own organizational rules then they are on scripture.

Russell & Rutherford both taught that Jesus Christ came to Kingdom rule in 1874, & not in 1914.See Zions Watchtower 1874. When Russell’s prophesy failed in 1874, Zion’s Watchtower of Oct / Nov 1881.said that Christ came invisibly. In His book Salvation written in 1926 Rutherford also said that Christ’s return was in 1874. The date was later changed to 1914.

I'm not a JW but a non-denominational Christian. That means if it's in the Bible (a version accurately translated from the original Greek, Hebrew, and Aramaic) I believe it and if it isn't in there, I don't subscribe to it (ie: Purgatory). Anyway, God doesn't look at death the same way we do. Christ made it possible for us to spend eternity in Heaven with God so taking away the sting of death. I believe in an age of understanding. Death doesn't = murder. I don't fear Heaven. Romans 5:8.

I was raised Jehovah's Witness (though I do not believe in God anymore) I always had a problem with how controlling it all seemed. Like I understand to a degree being told what to do, but I hated being told how to THINK and FEEL. I also didn't like how they discourage pursuing an education.

JWs don't tell you not to do your own research or to ask questions, in fact they encorage the complete opposite. I am one of Jehovah's Witnesses myself however before I became baptised I took the time to ask questions and do research into the teaching of witnesses and the bible. I was never once told this was wrong or I shouldn't be doing it but was rather encoraged by the elders to shair any doubts I had about any teachings so that they could show me where the beliefs come from within the bible

In the Bible, 'Michael' is referred to as the archangel. The only one. He rules over all the other angels. An likewise, it is Jesus who is king and ruler of this new coming paradise and so his 'enemies will be put under his feet' like a foot stool. You're really missing the beauty of Noah's Ark and the correlation with Jesus Christ. Noah warned those around him for nearly 100 years while building the boat. They didn't listen. God provided the ONLY way to be rescued. Noah and his family listened and obeyed. It's the same with Jesus. He is the Way, the Truth, and the Life. @MetalElf You don't have to use scriptures to prove the teachings of the Watchtower - they're two seperate entities. There are TONS of teachings that the Watchtower subscribes to that have absolutely no basis whatsoever in the Bible.
