Ya know, there's no way to prove which is better, ninjas or pirates. Because if the pirate knows the ninja is there, the ninja has lost his most powerful weapon. In a fair fight, the pirate would probably have died from poisoned rum aboard his ship six months after meeting the ninja. If a ninja and a pirate fight, the pirate would probably win just because he doesn't fight fair, and he already has an advantage just knowing the ninja is there.

Pirates have Guns, Cannons, larger ships. Also Pirates often fight ship to ship with boarding actions, something Vikings did not do. The Longboat was used to get to your raiding area, then you kicked the shit out of your enemies and left. You didn't fight there navy.
