IanPostlethwaite, The Dean on the Gallopers, in fact the whole ride is undergoing restoration.
I ran the Gavi with May Queen the whole weekend, All 3 exhibits are owned and run by the same person, a dedicated steam and fairground enthusiast and I can assure you that everything will be carried out to the highest standards.
Berwick is one of the best events of the year, the do not "cut down" on exhibits, everyone is there giving up their own time to a good cause.
Went to the Berwick St John rally this year (2010) for the first time, and after seeing videos like this I was very disappointed, on the organ side of it anyway. There was the wonderful 87 key Gavioli which was superb, but then there was a poorly maintained Dean organ in the gallopers, badly in need of a tune-up!!!
Looks like Berwick St John has gone down the route of many rallies lately, cutting down attendance of organs, either that or there just isnt the support from owners anymore.....
Thats a nice foster 4" traction engine don't you think, I built it ten years ago. @7mins 11sec. Berwick ST John, great rally and good beer. See you there this year 2008.
