If you lose your job or quit to go into business for yourself and have a pre-existing condition, it is impossible to get insurance coverage for that condition. This isn't about polls but rather people being hurt.

Better yet, those who drink and smoke should pay more towards their medical insurance while those of us who chose a HEALTHY lifestyle should pay less or get a tax break. Pot should be legal and TAXED. Prisoners should have to work in prisons to pay for their incarceration. Just these few steps would reduce our deficite and pay for those uninsured.

Costs have risen because the government fails to pay the cost of treating Medicare patients. These costs are shifted to other patients in terms of higher prices.

This will increase competition, put buying power back to the consumer, and provide portability between jobs through policies we can get outside employers. We dont need a huge govt program when we are FLAT BROKE. We wanted change! CommonSenseJoe, you sound like a puppet of the opponents of health care reform who would rather encourage fear-mongering about what could happen rather than looking at the abysmal state of the current health insurance system.
I am a dual citizen (US and Canada) and appreciate the Canadian health care system. The reason Canada has longer waiting lists for non-emergency surgeries is that EVERYONE, not just those with insurance coverage that agrees to pay or personal deep pockets, is eligible.

And we also don't want the same excessive taxation you have there in Canada!
And the "fear mongering" is mostly from obamer's Congressional Budget Office when they said..."under obamer's H.C. plan, and even after 10 years, there will STILL be 17 Million with NO H.C. coverage!
And they also state the cost incurred would be unsustainable!
And.... it's obamer Democrats that are stopping the bill!

I know that facts are suborn things but you eventually have to deal with them. No one is suggesting that there are NOT problems with our healthcare system. Most of them are CAUSED by the government. There is no reason to believe more government involvement would make the system better.
If you like the Canadian system, good for you. Live in Canada. Our system works when the government does not mess it up. If they would paid the full cost of Medicare patients, that alone would lower costs.

I moved to the US a few years ago, what a great country, until I had to get my health insurance, my premiums and my property tax and income tax are about 15% more than my total tax burden in the UK. The rest of the world doesn't want you to reform your healthcare, it makes all your industries uncompetitive ...Carry on with your good work, sacrificing America to the Chinese!

You cannot stay on topic at all can you? None of this has to do with the lies you have been telling about George Bush. Tax cuts went to EVERYONE who paid taxes. It is the responsibility of the FEDERAL government to protect our country, not run my healthcare.

Insurance premiums should be based on income. If insurance was affordable for everyone then there wouldnt be a dependency on the employer

The fact that we are debating this issue is amazing. It is painfully clear that this country's health care system needs to change. I am amazed that people call this a government takeover of health care. It is by no mean a takeover of anything. The President is simply giving Americans the oppertunity to have access to top of the line health care.

Obama just makes it up as he goes along. He does not even know what is in any of the 4 health care bills. This is not about caring for people, it is about controlling people. I find it amazing that all those otherwise intelligent individuals could fall for his false hope & change.
The only change we have is total destruction of our constitution. It had already begun but Obama is going to make sure it is shredded and gone. Right after he bankrupts our nation.

Your doctor and your insurance company may decide to bail on you. It happens all the time If that does not happen you will be able to keep them as long as you are willing to pay for it like you do now.. except it will be less expensive.
