This is a little concerning because next week I am returning to Japan on an American/JAL codehsare and I will also be going through Narita with only an hour and 45 minutes between and I've been kind of concerned about it. :/ If it's too tight, I might just hang around and insist they get me on the next flight, or maybe I'll take a night bus if I can't make my connection back to Osaka...
wow,the EXACT same thing could of happened to me;i was on the exact same flights as you,except mine started in toronto.when i got to lax,i asked to speak with a manager who understood the problem and had someone from jal meet me at narita.the jal rep took me to the front of 3 priority lines;it took all of 13 minutes from when the rep met me to when i was at the jal counter picking my seat for the flight to osaka.
Couldn't you have taken the Delta Airlines' LAX-Haneda service? I absolutely detest having to go through Narita every time I go back to Japan. More US flights should start service to Haneda Intn'l which is in right in the central Tokyo area (unlike Narita.)
@TiramisuHappy That was a possibility except for two problems. 1) My final destination was not Tokyo. If it was, it would have been perfect. 2) Had I gone that route anyway, I would have had an over night layover in Tokyo. I just didn't want to spend the extra money on a hotel at Haneda. They were kind of expensive. I wanted to get to Kyoto as quickly as possible.
@papertiger7 Me too! I don't like doing things at the last minute because it causes me so much stress. I've never almost missed a flight before, so I was a little more than freaked out.
@Degenskonto I'm just visiting until the 13th. I have a meeting at Kyoto University and I'm working on a scholarship application. Other than that, I'm not doing much.
@Gimmeaflakeman When I went to bed about midnight(?), I started the upload. It first said 77 mins, then 89, so I don't know exactly when it finished.
I'm here until the 13th. Let me know if you'll get back in time. I think originally you mentioned you might return on the 9th. Anyway, if you're here, let me know.
