my uber religious anti-gay friend once told me that the "right" way to show "support" is to demonstrate objection and intolerance to your gay relationship, no matter how much it hurts them, because they see your relationship as a threat to your eternal salvation and they want to make that clear to you, as much as it is painful to them to lose your friendship... that's their POV. you can build a bridge by talking about how faith matters/continues to matter to you,tho probably avoid the gay issue
