So much of this is about the retinal bias of AR, but the essence of AR is not about creating new things to see, its about making new and different tools with which to access and develop ideas.
+ an argument about mimetics is hardly something to level at AR (yet)
+ don't see why AR is rooted in emission theory.. surely we can 'receive' virtual layers?
I lol'd at the bit about the terminator having to read from his cyborg-vision.. I was shocked at the absurdity when I first realised this too.
I don't want to misrepresent the presentation -- it wasn't prepared as such, but it wasn't improvised -- most all of this comes from an essay I've been working on for a while. It was a last! minute! decision to turn it into a presentation and indeed, I was thinking as I was talking, but it wasn't improvised as such.
Also, credit to some folks who helped inform these arguments, including my business partner Frank (over the years) and Kenyatta Cheese.
I just like his voice..the tone..the words. I wish I had teachers like that.
