TZ is the Best show there is, I saw a really rare episode for the first time and I ended up loving it. I always watch the marathons, its a classic show.
@SomethingReal1119 Me too! I even own some box sets and many episodes i never get tired of watching, tho I guess I annoy people with it.I really feel there's genius or a creativity I don't find anywhere else, well,
I can remember one TZ episode in which a nasty, vindictive (but very rich) man builds a bomb shelter and invites three people over -- a schoolteacher, a priest and a general. They're all people he feels have wrecked his life. He plans to offer them sanctuary from a "nuclear attack" (he's faked the newsreels) if they apologize and basically grovel to him. Anybody know what the title of that was? Thanks!
TZ was/is my favorite TV show of ALL time. I look forward to the marathons every year; and on those days, I just snuggle into the couch with goodies, and watch for HOURS! One of my greatest pleasures in life (I'm a simple gal, what can I say? lol)
@SomethingReal1119 Hi I KNOW you wrote this AGES AGO JUST TO SAY We seem to be a sort of Cult of followers I lurve the Zone too tales of the Unsuspected is soooooo good too Check it out Yeah Rod Serling WAS brilliant humanity creativity not to mention him looking gorgeous The TZ is like when u feel a bit ,maybe, low, the last resort.... If u know what I mean, Girl Ps a yound r Redford made his debut there too Oh well good Bye
the night i watched the fear was at like 10 on a school night so i could only watch half of it. i almost got grounded for sneaking downstairs and trying to watch the rest
I wish they still made shows like this. Why are there so many cop shows on TV and courtroom drama? You see, the government has you trained... through TV they have hypnotized you. You see it on TV so it must be true. But it is not using imagination anymore... it's, in a word..... CRAP. I don't watch it anymore, waste of money.
I still have a VCR recording of the 25th Anniversary special which I've had since the late 80's. It was hosted by Patrick O'Neal who starred as Harmon Gordon in "A Short Drink From a Certain Fountain".
If I remember correctly the 3 episodes they showed were; Person or Persons Unknown, A Short Drink From a Certain Fountain and Miniature.
This can hardly be considered a list of rare "Twilight Zone" episodes, as the first eight episodes on the list are shown quite often in reruns. A list of rare episodes would start with the fifth season episodes "An Occurance At Owl Creek Bridge" and "The Encounter" and would be followed by eight of the fourth season hour episodes, such as "He's Alive", "The Bard", "Mute", "Death Ship" and "The Incredible World Of Horace Ford".
First, you have to throw out the 1 hour episodes because there is less chance for those to be shown, but I am with you.
"The Encounter" may be the rarest and "Sounds & Silences" is also a rare one. Some of the ones he mentioned like "Escape Clause", "Fear", "The Grave", "The Little People", & "And when the sky was opened", have always featured prominently in reruns and I am going back to the mid - late 1960's when they first started showing them as reruns.
"Nothing in the Dark", "Escape Clause", "The Grave" are well liked and common episodes. "An Occurrence at Owl Creek Bridge" the most uncommon not even in the list!
I disagree with this list. The rare episodes would have to be An Occurence at Owl Creek Bridge, The Encounter, Sounds and Silences and A Short Drink From a Certain Fountain.
@jackiemickie An Occurence at Owl Creek Bridge was only aired once. The encounter was also only aired once because some people were offended at the innaccuracy of the statement that a Japanese ex-patriot was on the ground signaling the planes at Pearl Harbor. There are only two episodes that are not in syndication, Miniature and The Sounds and the Silence. Since they aren't in syndication, they are never shown in re-runs. Luckily I got them on VHS a while ago.
Very good The Little People is shown on TV every once in awhile for marathons and Nothing in the Dark is a classic that is shown often. and I believe that its called the 16 millimeter shrine. But good job man you picked some ones that I had never seen Good Job
I'm not familiar with the first two, but some of the others are shown quite often. Some of you mentioned "An Occurrence at Owl Creek Bridge." That was shown at least once on "Twilight Zone" but it was not originally their production. Actually, it won an Oscar for "Best Short Subject." I think it may actually be French.
Mostly the fourth season of Twilight Zone, which was really a half season, because the show was cancelled and renewed, are the less shown ones, because they are an hour long. Also, two episodes from season five, "The Encounter", and "An Occurrance at Owl Creek Bridge" are not shown anymore. The latter two never made it into second run syndication packages.
If you get "The Twilight Zone Complete Definitive Collection" you can watch those rare episodes at your liesure. It's the best purchase I've made in awhile.
I'm sorry, but I have to respectfully disagree. None of those episodes are rare. All of them play regularly on the marathons, The Grave and Nothing in the Dark play more often than that. Those are all fairly popular episodes. I expected to see for rare episodes "Night of the Meek," "An Occurence at Owl Creek Bridge", or "The Encounter." Most people have never even heard of those. BTW: It's "The 16-Millimeter Shrine," not The 16 Miller Shrine.
There's also another rare episode called "Sounds and Silences." I just watched it 30 minutes ago on the SyFy channel :-)

first off the rarest episode is the one they banned.
it features the asian guy from star trek getting trapped in it a attack with a guy. The next 9 would all be hour long episodes.
