The package is already installed in Ubuntu by default ... the only thing you need to install is "compiz-settings-manager", a front-end who let you setup and config all the 3D effects you want. After installation you will find in System-->Preferences. Enjoy!!

Deadly soundtrack, i would like to know the title and band. But youtube is infested with these type of videos full of effects that don't prove anything but the power of your machine, not your OS. Windows sucks, but some of us need to use Adobe software and the like, cause it's the standard. Ubuntu it's ok if you do the common stuff.

when i was testing the beta of 8.04 i was shocked. i booted off the disk and i was able to mount my partitions from the hard disk in the live cd WITH OUT THE USE OF ANY OF MY PASSWORDS.the live cd even allowed me to manipulate data on the HD too. has anyone else found any other things that should be addressed?

Oke i made a little reasrch and find out that ubuntu 8.04 can be installand uninstall on windows xp like any other windows software ;P neet .. it is not necesary to create a new particion for it ... im downloading it and give it a try to see how it feels ... :) maby i will be more lucky with drivers compatibiliti with this relese :)

Well is very attracting video , and some time ago i installed the ubuntu 7.10 for the 3d cube , but i spent more time resolving the compatibiliti issues with drivers and other programs ... so i forgot to enjoy the visual effects :) so i switch back to windows after i reinstall ubuntu 5 times in one week because when i tride to install different stuff the os was crahind very badly ... so i think windows will still be the top os for more years , even if it dosen't have the fancy visual effects .

Hey people but there is so much above these visual effects. Ubuntu actually works, and it works very well. Pretty nice and smooth. No crashes, no annoying messages. Just plain function. And Compiz only adds one more dimension.

Yes, when you get down to the code then every MS OS does suck. The only reason any of them are still used is because 90% of software is MS specific. That's why I dual boot XP and Ubuntu. Vista will never have a chance to infect MY computer. XP is really necessary for me because there are many things you can't WINE.

It's also always good to have a backup OS *when* my XP install commits suicide. I don't even have compiz or anything (crap integrated graphics card), but Ubuntu still pwns!!

These features actually exist in 7.10, the newer features of 8.04 are subtle things like the world clock, and the Wubi is now part of the install disk so people can try Ubuntu in windows without repartitioning their hard drives.Of course, it's just bait to get people thinking about moving to Ubuntu. I separate my root and home partitions so I can reinstall Ubuntu without screwing up my wine installs. I've tried gOS, Xubuntu and Ubuntu with the same user account. Cool OS, Windows can't compare.

Get microsoft virtual pc and then install it to test it. Even if it is corrupt, if u run it in virtual pc it won't affect your computer at all.

This way you can have the os you've got now and hardy heron without a dual boot.

What does 8.04 bring to the table? I know from 7.04 to 7.10 you could write to NTFS I belive, but with that came the ATI/Suspend issues. Does 8.04 fix Suspend with ATI? And can you insert the 8.04 Alpha and upgrade from 7.10?
