Hi James are you going to Northern Luzon for Typhoon Lupit's arrival? I think there is a slight chance for hong kong to get some outer bands from Lupit. But the south china sea is cooling down so it may dissipate.
If the pilot of Virgin Atlantic Sydney to Hong Kong that night is reading this, my sincere thanks and much praise for your textbook landing in those conditions. I was less impressed with the aft hostesses who screached like banshees during the turbulance and until the Exit signs came on whereupon I suspect they were saying prayers like the rest of us.
I would love to be in a typhoon or a hurricane, I almost had a chance to experience hurricane Adrian down here in El Salvador back in 2005. But, the storm fizzled out before landfall.
Waku1976- Hurricanes and typhoons are the same thing, just different names for different areas of the globe. The SuperTyphoon to the east of the phillipines right now is equivalent to a category 4 hurricane, and will intensify to cat 5.
Nice job done, James, you risked your life in doing so, well appreciated, but not another time, okay? I notice that your reporting is great but if you rehearse more to cut off the speech fillers, you could become a great news reporter. Bravo.
Those chasers w/o safety precautions are putting their own lives at risk. There should be some casualties before the public realise that it's rather dangerous to go out "enjoying" the typhoon
Just amazing how you are getting all of this incredible footage this year of typhoons James! The one storm chaser that seems to be getting extreme storm footage this year for 2009! Fantastic Video!!!
great video James...but you sure got wet! We did take a hammering...and this with only a strength of Cat 1, and never closer than 180km. (I didn't think you'd be able to make the Macau ferry.)
2:26 is he trying to make a new dance move or is he a trying to take a piss whats he doing there?

Those signs along the coast are so firmly built. They don't even move a bit under such a strong wind.

cutelilyful 2 years ago
