  • I knew none of these people.....but my best friend died in a climbing accident ....nice video.

  • im backing all the mountain climbers in the world with prayers... i know these mountain legends had a happy death. They died doing their sport and passion... thumbs up for all of them.... =)

  • all climber is no nigger. why??

  • And Vitor Negrete from Brazil ???

  • so many deaths, is it worth it? sports should be encouraged but within the limits of safety.

  • kukuczka nie jest najlepszy, a wszystko przez ten tlen.

  • And Wolfgang Gullich ???

  • Great video, would be nice to see some of the great female climbers though: Wanda Rutkiewicz, Alison Hargreaves, Marty Hoey--all died on an 8,000 mountain.

  • Jerzy....the best of the best!!!.

  • What about reinholds brother ?

  • u should put George Mallory, Andrew Irvine, Sir Edmund Hillary and Norgal coz they are the top climber in the world

  • "Was it worth it?" Kind of a dumb question related to these people. You could ask some drunk driver who hits someone while driving, "was it worth it" and that would be valid but these people? They were living their lives challenging themselves. Seeing what their limitations are. Personally, I'm not sure there is any great "meaning" to life from a spiritual sense but I'm old enough to realize that basically you've got to live for yourself. It is your life. These guys were doing what they wanted.

  • well guys

    was it worth it..

    stop at the top

  • Why didn't you include George Mallory and Sandy Irvine?

  • Messner is alive and kickin'

    .

He is the best mountaneer ever!!!!

  • Jerzy Kukuczka - najlepszy z najlepszych. Polska wydała go ziemia.

  • Moral of the story is Annapurna = dangerous as hell

  • I didn't really like osman for his cocky style (no ropes) but that doesn't change the fact that he was a legend, and certainly he was an amazing climber and therefore deserves to be on the list.

  • Kukuczka should have known better than to buy a 2nd hand rope. I mean seriously dude. If you're life is on the line (no pun intended) then cough up the extra few bucks.

  • climbing and exploring is part of life I love it can you imagine it with manilla or hemp roap canvas tents lots of wool clothing as tough as it is now we have it easy ...

  • Hello! I think that Göran Kropp, the Swede who travelled from sweden to nepal and climbed the mount everet on his own the year Fischer and Hall died should also be named in your video. e died in 2002, falling 70 feat.

  • Jerzy Kukuczka The best of alllllll!!!R.I.P Jurek

  • Very nice and proper done film. Good !

  • Someone can tell me wich is the title of the song?

    Thanks a lot

  • this is the main theme of the sylvester stallone movie "Lock up"

  • @marchinomarchino

    running free by christoph spendel

  • A very sentimental video of climber legens! Compliment!

  • Very nice film, properly respectful. I saw the Chortens when I went to Everest Base Camp a few years ago, I remember one to a guy called Peter Ganner, made me very sad. Those of us who don't climb can only wonder at those who do.

    Thanks, nice music too.

  • Edomites love climbing mountains since their home was the caucasus mountains.

  • Dan Osman, Alain Rober, Dean Potter free solo

  • Patrick Berhault

  • No this isn't the guy I heard about but thank you. The one I'm thinking of died this summer.

  • You talk about John Bachar.

  • i think i didnt see Osman?!

  • Thank you very much. I think this is the guy.

  • Osman was master of rock but he had nothing to do with mountaineering

  • I think people that rock climb or mountain climb are the same breed. They have much in common only differing in the type of climbing. It seems crazy to non climbers to partake in such a high risk adventures. Only the climbers really understand what it is that drives them.

Dan Osman certainly deserves to be on the list of legends. It seems that this list is only for a particular type of climber. To me its one in the same, they all died on mountains, Why get lost in the formalities?

  • Can anyone tell me the name of the famed climber who died scaling a cliff behind his home who supposedly used no equip whatsoever ever? He is said to be famous for being so crazy and climbing without any gear and his body alone. It was on national news the other day and he supposedly made a movie about him and his daring style.

  • Dan Osman

  • ...what´s about toni kurz and anderl hinterstoisser (eiger northface 1936)...but thanks for this vid...

  • Dear Gredlok - You can call Reinhold and Krzysztof - if you know their phone numbers. They are here.

    Very nice Vid.

  • You forgot Slovenian Nejc Zaplotnik!

  • and Slovak Jozef Psotka (+ 1984)

  • Wanda Rutkiewicz (Greatest Woman Mountaineers Ever)

Tadeusz Piotrowski (South Face or "Polish Line" (extremely exposed and most dangerous).

  • Now THIS is how to make a video. Bravo! There is taste, delicacay and intelligence here. And real feeling!

Touching choice of photographs, tactful music.

    THANK YOU, FRIEND.

  • reinhold messner?? krzysztof wielicki???

  • are they dead??no, so why should they be in that vid?

  • @Gredlok Messner is alive and very well.

  • nice video man
